Newly Renovated Ocean View - 3 Bedroom / 2 Bath. Main level had 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The first bedroom has a queen bed and the second had two twins or can be used as a King. The master suite is on the second level with a private 1/2 bath. Great porch with ocean view and lots of outdoor seating. All new appliances, and outdoor Napolean gas grill. Outdoor shower and ice machine are located under the main level. Pet friendly home with no carpet anywhere.
My friends and I stayed here back in May and had an absolute blast. The house was only a 2 minute walk from the beach and we sat out on the front porch every morning to drink our coffee and could hear the waves. The house isn't a 5 star hotel by any means. But come on....it's an island with only boats for transportation. It probably wouldn't be easy to haul brand new furniture over. If you're looking for a simple place to just relax and be stress-free, this is the place for you! The house comes with kayaks so we took those out every day. We went for long walks on the beach a couple of times a day. We even got to see a sea turtle come ashore and lay her eggs! That was amazing! And on our third night there, I got engaged on the beach at sunset. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect vacation. I have zero complaints about the island or the house even. I know most people want a five star hotel with WiFi and how many other amenities to keep them happy, but when you're on an island with a roof over your head at night and surrounded by your loved ones, complaining about an outdated couch seems kind of silly to me. I will most definItaly be returning to Little Gasparilla as it holds a special place in my heart :)
The Thompson's from Missouri LOVED our vacation from May 23-30th, 2016!!!!!!!!!!! We had an AMAZING time! Everything we needed was there except for the food. The beach is absolutely perfect!!! This is the place to go for seclusion and relaxation! There were a few families here and there, but we felt like we had our own private beach! This made the seashells and creature hunting so much more fun as we didn't have to fight for space! Snorkeling was awesome!!! We came at the perfect time- the water was calm all except for one day. If you are looking for luxury, this place isn't for you. If you're looking for a nice place to sleep with the essentials so you can be at the beach every day--HAVE NO FEAR AND BOOK IT NOW! If we get the chance to return to the Island, I would book this house again. The house is literally just a few steps to the beach. I always wonder if people were exaggerating or not when they say that---->> this property is like walking from your car in the parking lot of Wal-Mart to the front door. It is right there! the only thing I would do differently next time is have a boat rented ahead of time. I would have liked to go exploring. When we went, all of the boat rentals were taken for the holiday weekend. We appreciate being able to use this house and can't wait to go back! Thank- you so much for letting us stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The comparatively large house is located in the northern part of this remote, unique island, close to the public beach; its just a 3 minute walk on a sandy path. Don't expect five-star amenities, however everything 'to survive' is available. Furniture is a mismatch of different styles, fabrics and vintages, not really attractive nor typical for a scenic sub-tropical beach house. Floors a faux-wood rolled vinyl. The bathroom was clean, the kitchen wasn't. The outdoor grill was filthy; before we used it we gave it a good half-hour scrub. Contrary to the ad Wifi wasn't provided (we were alerted to this by the owner prior to our arrival) and the dishwasher was unusable. The location is good for a relaxed, rustic vacation; price is too high for what you get.
Would rate 2.5 out of 5 stars. While dealing with the owners was easy and I found Danielle willing to assist when asked, the property itself was, in my opinion not as advertised. The location is very close to the beach (close enough that from the porch you can hear the waves most of the time) and the bay but the Ocean View is through thick foliage and minimal at best. I would describe the house as recently partially renovated rather than newly renovated. While it was obvious the doors had all been replaced, there were newer appliances, the kitchen cabinets had been refinished, the bathrooms had been updated, and the flooring had been replaced there were issues. There was an odor when we first entered the house. I don't know if this was from previous pets or other possible causes. There were exposed wires in the first floor bathroom above the vanity and the entire outlet box pulled partially out of the wall when removing a plug, the paneling and ceiling in one of the first floor bedrooms showed signs of water damage, the window above the kitchen sink was cracked (though it did not appear to be missing any of the glass), and the general quality of the finish work was poor (mismatched/missing trim, paint that did not cover entirely/at all etc.). The flooring was very inexpensive vinyl over a very uneven sub-floor. I might have thought this was standard for the island rentals but I had two other family members staying the during our stay and while one of the properties was not significantly better, it was in better shape, was three bedrooms, two baths, nearly the same location as ours and it included a golf cart and was $45 less per night. The other property was at the South end of the island and while not as close to the beach it was considerably larger, 4 bedrooms 2 full & 2 half baths, front and rear deck, was VERY NICELY renovated and was the exact same money as our rental. I was also disappointed that Internet access was cancelled only two weeks prior to our arrival. Everyone does not use their cell service for a large amount of Internet access and many people do not have large data plans. Internet access was provided according to the contract and that should have been honored.
First, I have to say this was the best family vacation in years--it reminded me of mine growing up. The house has everything you need and a bit more: the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking meals (a good thing because there is no restaurant or food store on the island) and there are plenty of linens for beds and beaches. There's great shelling and swimming literally a 200 feet away at the beach where we spent most of our time. We kayaked, they're included with the house, walked the beaches and explored the free lending library. It was a great, old-style family vacation together. Would do it again in a heart beat!
I don't really know where to begin. Neither my husband nor I (or the dog) knew what to expect when we booked the 2 weeks in Feb. We knew that we were to bring whatever we needed in the way of food and drink but that was about it. We loaded up at Publix, brought more books than changes of clothing, threw in some card games and remembered treats (and waste bags) for the dog.
From the moment the 3 of us arrived it was like stepping onto paradise. No traffic, no schedules-except for sunset-and no worries. The only activity is hunting for sharks teeth. Perfect! Outside of turtle egg -laying months, well-behaved dogs greet each other off leash. That's pretty perfect for them, too.
Sandy Cheeks has a clean well-stocked kitchen of different sized pots and pans, and certainly enough beds and dining chairs to accommodate 6 comfortably. The verandah is fabulous for just doing nothing. Our only drawback was in the sitting area where only a futon and one easy chair were available. That was not an inviting layout. Also, our stay being in sync with some of the primaries, it would have been nice to have had just one local station. Fortunately, our neighbors did, so we had our fill of the craziness of this pre-election time. Other than that, the lack of television didn't bother us, though It might matter to the next person. (If none of the rentals had access, I wouldn't even be mentioning it. After all, you don't go to L.G.I to watch TV)
All in all, I just about had to be carried off of there. Even the dog was depressed upon leaving. We all definitely want to return, and hopefully we shall!
