About Mike and Kathi Cook
Mike and Kathi Cook, Hanky-Panky's owners, live locally here in Sevierville,Tennessee having migrated from the North to experience more moderate weather. Mike retired from a 36 year YMCA career as President/CEO of the Jackson Family YMCA in 2010 to chase his dream of performing music professionally; he has performed as lead singer and played acoustic guitar and harmonica for the past ten years in BoomerNation, a popular classic rock duet, popular all across West Tennessee, and in Kentucky and Missouri. Kathi is also retired and in retirement has worked in women's fashion retail; she has also managed the office for a local catering business, drawing on her almost 10 years of business experience with the Bank of America up in NY State where she rose to manager in the tax processing division. Kathi is also a retired YMCA Director, having worked at multiple YMCAs over a twenty year career. Our son Jason has completed a 20 year career in the US Army, and lives with Steffi, our daughter-in-law from the Bavaria region in Germany, and our two wonderful grandchildren Jonathan and Lilly.... the family resides here locally near us. Mike and Kathi spend their retired time traveling and enjoying the beautiful horse country in Lexington Kentucky when not at their cabin in the Smoky Mountains. We both hope you enjoy Hanky-Panky as much as we did on our visits there! We consider providing an accommodating and attractive, private, cabin for everyone's use regardless of any person's physical limitations as a service to all who wish to enjoy the splendor and peace of the Great Smoky Mountains!
Mike and Kathi Cook purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Mike and Kathi Cook chose Pigeon Forge
We had our first rustic Smoky Mountain cabin experience celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary high on a mountain in Gatlinburg in 2013. There is a definite trade-off to having mountain views ....the roads were so steep and treacherous getting to/from the cabin, we felt captive at night, and unable to enjoy the night life and attractions that the area provides. When we decided to purchase our own rental cabin, we chose Hanky-Panky for many reasons, the top of which was it's easy travel accessibility at night with flat paved country roads and within 10 minutes of some major Smoky Mountain attractions. The original owner who built the cabin in 2005, was wheelchair bound, and designed the cabin to be as handicapped-friendly as one can find anywhere in the Smokies. It is artistically spectacular inside and out, surrounded by trees, with great parking and modern cabin amenities...we have added ultra high-speed wireless internet, constructed a privacy screen adjacent to the outdoor hot tub, and installed the highest quality water purification system available, because mountain water quality at many cabins is not very good in the Smokies. In February 2014, we personally stayed at Hanky-Panky during the coldest four days of the past two decades and the cabin was toasty warm, the gas fired propane burner quite inviting. We trust you will find the cabin quite comfortable regardless of the season that you visit it. The unique rock-work mantle place in the living room, (a theme carried over to the bathroom area), will capture your attention when you first enter the cabin, and was constructed from real Smoky Mountain river bedrock harvested locally, rounded and smoothed by years of flowing water, creating additional mountain ambiance for your cabin living environment!
What makes this Cabin unique
Hanky-Panky is located on an acre of woods, overlooking a deep wooded ravine and offering outstanding privacy. The cabin was designed and constructed to be special needs friendly by an owner who was himself wheelchair bound. It is a spacious one bedroom log cabin with all amenities located on a single level and void of any stairs. The wheelchair front porch ramp directly contacts cement/blacktop level parking. Just 10 minutes from area restaurants and attractions, the drive is easy on all paved county roads which allows guests to enjoy the attractions that the area has to offer after dark. Please understand that our homeowners insurance requires that our renters be at least 25 years of age!

Great little retreat location!
Cabin was just as described. Absolutely beautiful. Could not have been more perfect for my anniversary weekend. Kathi was great as well. Made us feel right at home. Could not have asked for a better PM. And she suggested the best restaurant we have had in a while. Already talking about another visit in the future! Perfect 5 out of 5!
Thank you both so much for your amazing review-so glad you enjoyed your time here! we'd love to have you as returning guests! Be sure to contact us before booking so we can offer you a returning guest discount!
Very nice place to get away to. Everything was as listed of not better. Would definitely go back.
All the conveniences of modern life, but rustic enough for a very relaxing stay. We love the gas stove in living room and jacuzzi tub. My only suggestion would be to add a vertical grab bar on the left wall of shower or near it. My disabled husband couldn’t reach the grab bar to stand. He also couldn’t stay on bench but we purchased a folding one and it working perfectly. With the grab bar, he’d be able to shower in his own. We will definitely be back. Mike and Kathi are great!
Like A Home Away From Home
The owner was extremely helpful in the booking process. She also went above and beyond by leaving a gift for us and even a birthday gift for me. We will definitely go back!
Wanted to get away for Christmas. Was decorated beautifully. Had great time .
Very quiet neighborhood. Beautiful and decorated home for Christmas. Kathi and Mike very informative about restaurants and local attractions. We’ll return for a second visit. Cleanliness cabin we have stayed in. It was spotlessly cleaned.
Dollywood is about eight miles from Hanky-Panky's door; the cabin is ten minutes from the giant Ferris Wheel and other attractions in Sevierville, as well as a local Kroger and other commercial amenities and restaurants.
