Fenced Property-Outdoor Hot/Cold Shower-Partial Oceanview-2 TV's-Sleeps 4
Aloha, I'm a husband, father, jack of all trades, coach of all sports and owner/manager of 5 vacation rentals in Hawaii. I was raised in Hawaii from the age of 8 years old after my family moved here from the USA mainland. Hawaii has so much to offer and I hope you get the chance to visit and explore this amazing state.
Greg purchased this House in 2003
Why Greg chose Hauula
We love this beach property. It's so close to the beach, restaurants and grocery stores. The small town feeling and tight community on this beach lane is familiar since I grew up in a small town, on a cul-d-sac on Oahu.
What makes this House unique
The beach is great, the waves are always gentle, even in the winter when other North Shore surf spots are reaching 25 feet. A perfect beach for swimming and boogie boarding. The deck of the Beach Lane View rental is my favorite. Up high with a partial water view and those grand Koolau mountains on the other side. We love to cook and eat outside on the deck and relax.

Good Place to Stay
It was a good place to stay that is not in a super busy area. There’s covered parking which was great and AC inside, which was also really great. The DVD player is broken and the mattress and couch leave something to be desired in terms of comfort, but overall it was a nice stay. No stove, but a microwave, toaster oven, and refrigerator which come in handy if you don’t want to eat put for every meal. Overall it was a good experience!
Aloha Sam and mahalo for letting me know about the broken DVD player, I will replace it. The bedroom mattress is fairly new. I try to purchase mattresses that are in the middle on the firmness scale but as you can imagine, everybody is use to their own preferred firmness.
First time in Hawaii and will definitely stay here again. If you like checking out more of the local flavors instead of the commercialized areas I would highly recommend this place. It is next to a busy street but it was quiet in the property with Windows closed. Greg was easy to get a hold of and had no issues at all .
Nice location and thoroughly prepared with everything you'll need
The description of the place is accurate and the location is very good.. close to a couple of the better local places to eat, 3 minutes from Laie and the Polynesian Cultural Center and a brief stroll down the lane to enjoy the beach.
The owner has prepared it well with cooking supplies, beach towels and toys and a full laundry.
House smelled very musty
Bad communication with owner, we are still waiting for a refund as 1 of our people didn’t have a blanket for 3 days. This house was not a pleasurable experience.
We take our guests' comfort very seriously and even gave this guest a partial refund due to their complaint. However, this party of three really required three beds, but choose to rent a 1 bedroom rental with only two beds. There were enough linens and comforters for the queen bed in the bedroom and the full-size convertible futon in the living room. These two beds are clearly seen and detailed on our VRBO page and we feel this is an unfair review since there were adequate bed linens for the two sleeping beds advertised. This guest could have easily walked 5 minutes to the nearby shopping center and bought a third blanket for their extra guest who was without a bed, instead they complained and asked for a refund, then after getting a refund, posted an unflattering & unfair review. Pro tip: next time...try making your guests comfortable by renting a place with enough beds or, at the very least, ask the owners if they have an air bed for the extra guest - we have one & would have been happy to provide that to you along with appropriate linens before your arrival. But we didn't know you needed a third bed. As far as the "musty smell," all the windows were closed when you arrived due to high winds prior to your arrival. All you needed to do was open the windows or turn on the air conditioning and the air would have cleared.
Enjoyed the stay
We really enjoyed the stay. But right off the bat one complain. When we checked in we found a dead gecko and a lot of droppings. Looked like the property was not cleaned before our arrival. The owner responded to our request for cleaning right away but the cleaning itself took another day to be done. Owner, please stay on top of such things; the first impression is always lasting and very important. The property has easy access to a nice secluded beach. It is also close to other very nice (but some of them very crowded) beaches. It is very close to Polynesian Culture Center (a must visit place). Drivinng distance to Waimea Valley and Falls (don't follow Google map directions for the Waimea falls), Dole plantation (would not recommend, it is a rip off), Giovannin's Shrimp truck (do this at least once), Ted's bakery (have a good breakfast here at least once).
I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay and sorry that the cleaning was not to your liking. I can assure you that the rental was cleaned after the prior guest checked out. But it was vacant for longer than the normal vacancy period between guests which allowed our tropical friend, the gecko, to enjoy the vacant period. There is a periodic pest control treatment at the property which mostly keeps the tropical critters away but it's not 100%. I would assume that this treatment caused the demise of the gecko.
Greg the owner was very responsive and friendly. The place had a nice deck and good access to the beach. We loved that snorkel equipment and coolers were available for our use. The bed was comfortable. Overall the place was adequate. A couple of draw backs for us was the property was located right on a fairly busy road and you could hear traffic noise all day/night and the place smelled a bit musty.
A beautiful, uncrowded beach with restrooms and showers at Kokololio Beach Park are steps away, as well as the bus stop, a grocery store, a drug store and restaurants are within walking distance, the Polynesian Cultural Center, LDS Temple and BYU start about a mile away, visit North Shore for Big Surf viewing, Haleiwa Town for charters or tours, Shopping and Fine Dining, Turtle Bay Resort for Golf, Tennis, Fine Dining and Dancing, Kualoa Ranch for Guided Tours, Horseback, Jet Ski and ATV riding.
