We had a great time! The house is comfortable (a little bit dark!) but cosy. The location is great. Also for fly fishing! Kids missed the dishwasher!
We really enjoyed it! Thanks!
wanna get away?
GREAT experience for my family of 8! my kids never even asked for their iPads the entire stay (4 nights and 5 days). We spent the time fishing, inner tubing, and swimming. A bait and bow shop is 5 minutes away and they carry just about everything you need (firewood, camping oil, food items, etc) and all other grocery items can be found 10 minutes away in Elkins. We WILL book again!
Almost heaven West Virginia
it all went really smooth! My wife is from this area in West Virginia, and everything went just as we would have wanted it!
Slice of heaven
Wonderful time at Rivers Edge! Relaxing...quiet..just what the SistAs were needing!
The property was picture perfect! My grandson wanted to have family time and fish after graduation. This property was a wonderful place to stay. Everyone enjoyed their stay by relaxing, playing board games, fishing, sitting in the hot tub, and toasting s’mores over the camp fire. Even our Chessies were welcome and loved swimming in the river. We are looking forward to coming back and having a longer stay.
Thank you for opening your home!
River River River
What a great little River Cabin! Views of river and access to river from rear of home and property are excellent. The master bed was super comfortable; we did not use the others so no opinion....the kitchen was well situated and we had no problems prepping meals etc with available pots/pans/dishes etc.
A couple improvements would be some floor lamps as the cabin is pretty dark and available lighting is poor. Ability to open windows in house proper (not added master suite) and haveing screens in these windows would be a plus as most of the den windows are inoperable or will not stay open. That brings you to the need for instructions for "AC" as I could never figure out where or how that would be operated...it was a cool week so we did not need it and I know Tiffany would have explained had we needed it but having instructions would be better so minimal interactions are needed.
In reference to interactions, I was a little put off by the 'test' of whether we were worthy of renting/using the offered kayaks...if previous experience (which we have A LOT of) or river levels dictate availability that should be stated in offer and they should be readily available. I had asked in my original booking request that we have access and use of these kayaks so we were pretty disappointed that A) they weren't there and B) the hesitancy to make them available.
To be fair, they were offered as available after experience test passed but at that point we had soured on the offer and never got to fish from/on river as we had planned.....we were able to fish from shore but....not the same....
So in conclusion, we enjoyed the house but felt the experience could have been better which is why the 4 stars and not 5.
Nestled among the Appalachian Mountains, this historic log cabin is located at one of West Virginia's most pristine riverside locations.
