We will be back, we had a great time and our children loved the freedom on the property.
This is our second stay at the Spruce compound. We stayed in the one bedroom two story duplex this stay (stayed in a two bedroom unit last time). Love this place - grounds are well kept - nice hot tub (although this time around we had a short visit and were not able to use it); I especially love that we can bring our dog - it's hard to find nice places that allow dogs. It's also a great location.
The place was clean on arrival. My deal breaker was the pullout sofa. It was horrible. The mattress is so old/ thin you can see the springs. There is no way you can sleep on that for a night or more restfully and without a back ache. Moreover, there was no blanket or sheet for that sofa bed. Based on other reviews- you have to wonder if the sheet covering the sofa bed is changed regularly? There was a single tiny travel shampoo/ conditioner but no actual soap. The shower was fine for me, but may be uncomfortable for a larger person as it is very small. It is close to town. I liked the shared hot tub.
When we arrived on property it was relatively clean, but the bed looked unmade and dirty sheets leftover from the previous guests. There were no towels or other toiletries. I called Vacasa immediately and left a message. The only saving grace was that a property manager happened to be onsite shortly after we arrived. I had called the Vacasa phone number provided just 5 minutes before and left a voicemail. He did not announce himself as a property manager and I could have easily assumed he was another guest. I happened to stop and ask him if he was a property manager or knew how to contact one - to complain about the cleanliness of our home. He was very helpful. What shocked me was that around 11AM the day after we checked in I received a call from Vacasa checking in with us about the cleanliness. They never got the message that a cleaning crew had already come by to solve our problem. But was is the worst is that they received my voicemail the evening prior and decided not to call after 9PM. This is an issue I would want to be bothered after 9PM about. What were we supposed to do if the gentlemen was not present on property? Or if had not asked him for help - assumed he was another guest? Would that have meant that Vacasa expected us to sleep on used sheets for our first night? I am so disappointed.
