The cottage situated at the end of a quiet country road is in a beautiful elevated setting commanding amazing views of Clew Bay., Croagh Patrick, Mweelrea Mts, and the village of Louisburgh, making this a wonderful holiday destination. A holiday home with well co-ordinated colour schemes, bright windows to enjoy the views and a very nice conservatory leading to an enclosed patio adjoining a large lawned garden. The tranquillity of the setting and the everchanging landscape makes this a landscape artists dream. This is a wonderful base from which to enjoy the delights of Connemara, Louisburgh, Westport, and Achill Island, which are designated as areas of outstanding natural beauty.

An outstanding property with breath taking views

Myself, my partner and 2 children (15 & 10) stayed here for a week at the end of July 2016. The property itself it absolutely beautiful, a real home from home. The owner John is a gentleman, he provides everything you will need for your stay. All you would really need to bring is your food. The house is immaculately clean, very well maintained and equipped with all modern appliances and of course free wifi that we were delighted about. There is lots to do within the Westport area and if you have children Westport House is a must and for the more adventurous Croagh Patrick which is a very difficult mountain climb but well worth it for the views. There is a petrol station 5 mins drive from the property which is really well stocked for all your day to day needs.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to family and friends and would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Outstanding accommodation

We stayed here for a week and are just back home. The house is absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean. The owner John is a lovely gentleman and he provides everything that you will need. Literally all you need to bring is your food. It is just a home from home. The views from the house are breathtaking and local shops and amenities are only a 5 min drive away. It is by far the nicest, most comfortable and well furnished holiday home we have stayed in. Would highly recommend .. 5* without a doubt!

fantastische locatie

Wij hebben het enorm naar ons zin gehad. De ligging van dit huis is ongelooflijk mooi je hebt aan alle kanten uitzicht. Het huis zelf geeft je meteen het gevoel van thuis. De eigenaar is ook heel aardig. Wij raden het van harte aan.

Highly recommended

We decided to visit Co. Mayo for the October half term school holiday and stayed for a week with 2 kids (6 and 4). The house is super, lots of space and extremely clean. The views are amazing and will live long in the memory - mountains, sea or Croagh Patrick, take your pick depending on which room you’re in. The location is ideal for exploring the coast with 6 blue flag/Green Award beaches within 20 minutes drive. The village of Louisburgh is about 15 minutes walk away with a good few pubs to visit. The town of Westport is about half an hour drive away with more to do and see (including a big Tesco to stock up on supplies and a newish leisure centre with pool and cinema).

We flew into Knock and hired a car, transfer time to house not bad at 1.5 hours.

Over the years we've stayed in quite a few rental properties - John's house is probably the best value for money we've found!

An outstanding property in a stunning location

This is a beautiful property with 360 degree awesome views. It is located a little outside Louisburgh on the brow of a hill down a little country lane and the views are simply stunning from all angles. There is another property alongside it but at the time we rented there was no-one in the other property so this was a very private site for us. The house is very nicely decorated, comfortable, and has most facilities that you need. It doesn't have a barbecue so you would need to take your own if you are into that. There is a good patch of grass both front and back of the property so plenty of space for children to play.

Louisburgh itself is very small although it does have everything you need such as a small supermarket, a pharmacy, a butcher, a cafe and a petrol station. Westport is about a 25 minute drive away and is a lovely little town. It has a lovely range of shops and supermarkets so you can get everything here if not available in Louisburgh.

A good place to eat is the Tavern at Murrisk - good portions at reasonable prices. We went on a Sunday and it was exceptionally busy which is a good indication of the quality of the food. Excellent menu choice. A recommended drive is to Leenane from Louisburgh as it takes you through breathtaking scenery. If you feel inclined continue to Cliffden and on round the Connemara National Park - you will not be disappointed.

Overall this is a wonderful place. John, the owner, is a charming, welcoming and friendly man, and showed us around on our arrival to explain how everything worked. He is only minutes away if you should need anything. We loved everything about this house and location and are looking forward to going back just as soon as we can.

The perfect getaway!

having been to ireland many times this was our first time in louisburgh. The house was indeed to a very high standard, lovely and cosy with stunning views over clare island.The high light of the visit was taking the children down to the beach where we spotted seals swimming!. Another trip worthwhile is the killary cruise. What a fab boat ride the landscape was breathtaking i would recommend this to anybody. louisburgh town itself was a lovely little place with a good few restaurants. Westport view hotel had a excellent menu also the owners were very friendly. overall this was a fantastic break away the owner of the house john was very helpful and made us very welcome, so welcome that we are going back next year! hopefully to climb croagh patrick.

Louisburgh is a small town on the southern shore of Clew Bay standing at the mouth of the Bunowen river approx 20 km West of Westport. It is the focal point of a region designated by Mayo Co Council as an Area of Great Natural Beauty. It boasts fine sandy beaches, three of which are Blue Flag beaches, three others are regarded as some of the best in Europe. Scenic drives abound and the journey south to Connemara is particularly beautiful. Louisburgh is a notable district for fishing, surfing, and mountain climbing. Of particular interest is Croagh Patrick which hosts an annual pilgrimage, the view from the summit of Clew Bays 365 islands is breathtaking.
