With one bedroom plus a sleeping loft and one bathroom, this cabin offers an unparalleled view of the Rainbow River which can be enjoyed from the hammock, the hot tub, the outdoor dining area or the patio area. This family-friendly rental sits at about the midpoint of the river and is bordered by the Florida State Greenway.
The cabin is ideal for the nature lover. Spring brings the blue herons to nest in the cypress in front of the house. You can see the different creatures as the day progresses: ducks in the early morning, blue heron fishing at mid-day, the hummingbird and otters in the evening, and the owl at dusk. Nature provides an ever evolving show right from the comfort of the deck.
Activities include swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, and everyone’s favorite: tubing down the river. The spring water is 73 degrees year round so if that's not to your liking you can enjoy the screen enclosed hot tub overlooking the river.
The cabin has one bedroom and a sleeping loft and is suitable for up to four. Families of more than four are discouraged but may be considered on a case by case basis for an additional charge. Come enjoy the natural beauty of this gem the locals affectionately call the' Blue Run.'
I am about as close to Tom Sawyer as you will find. I grew up running around in the woods along the Rainbow River shirtless and barefoot. We would fish off of anything that would float and we had no qualms about sneaking out and bass fishing off of someone's dock when they left for the supermarket. My first home as an adult was an old cracker style house downstream on the Blue Run. (It was not much of a house). That house is still standing and will for a long time because it stayed in the family and now belongs to one of my closest friends. If you float down you can see the place on the east bank. You can recognize it on weekends because it is the only place with plastic lawn furniture set up out in the river. Give them a shout on the way by. They are fine southern folks. We all remember the river the way it was before it was discovered, but that was a long time ago and we can't undiscover it, so we welcome our visitors. I'm glad I got to see it then in its more natural state. I hope my visitors enjoy the river as much as I have. -Dwight
Dwight purchased this cabin in 2012
Come visit. You'll see.
I stated with my husband and my two small dogs. *We* had a great time!! Enjoyed the water and kyaks every day!!. Small place, perfect for two. Very clean with all amnenities, including washer and dryer. For sure, we will be back.
My husband and I enjoyed our second visit to the Rainbow River while staying at the Blue Run Cabin. The cabin was quite comfortable and had all the comforts of home. Situated in a small neighborhood but was very private and quiet. We enjoyed the natural setting right on the river. There are lots of trees in the large yard that provides shade and welcomes many birds to watch. Plenty of water toys was provided and we enjoyed the two green kayaks the most. They are super quick and easy to navigate the river. Would suggest a storage rack for them though to better accommodate..when we arrived we found them up on the deck close to the cabin and we had to carry them back & forth when using. We experienced hurricane Hermine come though while staying at the cabin. It rolled through in the middle of the night on 9/1 and when we awoke on the 2nd we found the cabin to be in great shape. No damage just lots of broken tree limbs and fallen moss. Didn't stop us from enjoying another day of the river and we felt safe the entire time we knew it was coming. You have a good sturdy cabin Dwight! We really enjoyed sitting on the deck in the evenings and watching the wildlife swim by. We watched cormorants hunting for fish in the river right off the deck. Enjoyed the wood ducks and saw a really cool alligator snapping turtle too! And the spa was quite wonderful too!
Such a beautiful little cabin on the Rainbow River that is secluded and very private. Perfect for family of 4. Very clean and lots of great water toys and everything you would need for a week stay or longer. Really enjoyed our time here and will recommend to all our family & friends. Can't wait for another long weekend off so we can visit again...
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a beautiful cabin and has everything you may need. Having the equipment to experience the river was great. The private setting is well maintained. Dwight made himself available if needed. We will stay again when we are in the area.
My family had a great time at the cabin. It was my wife and I and 4 kids ages 11,10,6 and 4. The kids fit just right in the loft area.
The kids spent all day fishing from the dock, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and swimming. We were there for 4 weeks and never grew tired of playing on the river.
Nature was amazing seeing river otters literally running through the back yard, falcons, owls, fish, spiders, frogs and even a small gator.
Dwight provides all the water toys and fishing gear you need. Just come and enjoy the outdoors.
