Overview

About the property

2 bed, 1 bath, sleeps 5

With one bedroom plus a sleeping loft and one bathroom, this cabin offers an unparalleled view of the Rainbow River which can be enjoyed from the hammock, the hot tub, the outdoor dining area or the patio area. This family-friendly rental sits at about the midpoint of the river and is bordered by the Florida State Greenway.

The cabin is ideal for the nature lover. Spring brings the blue herons to nest in the cypress in front of the house. You can see the different creatures as the day progresses: ducks in the early morning, blue heron fishing at mid-day, the hummingbird and otters in the evening, and the owl at dusk. Nature provides an ever evolving show right from the comfort of the deck.

Activities include swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, and everyone’s favorite: tubing down the river. The spring water is 73 degrees year round so if that's not to your liking you can enjoy the screen enclosed hot tub overlooking the river.

The cabin has one bedroom and a sleeping loft and is suitable for up to four. Families of more than four are discouraged but may be considered on a case by case basis for an additional charge. Come enjoy the natural beauty of this gem the locals affectionately call the' Blue Run.'

About Dwight

I am about as close to Tom Sawyer as you will find. I grew up running around in the woods along the Rainbow River shirtless and barefoot. We would fish off of anything that would float and we had no qualms about sneaking out and bass fishing off of someone's dock when they left for the supermarket. My first home as an adult was an old cracker style house downstream on the Blue Run. (It was not much of a house). That house is still standing and will for a long time because it stayed in the family and now belongs to one of my closest friends. If you float down you can see the place on the east bank. You can recognize it on weekends because it is the only place with plastic lawn furniture set up out in the river. Give them a shout on the way by. They are fine southern folks. We all remember the river the way it was before it was discovered, but that was a long time ago and we can't undiscover it, so we welcome our visitors. I'm glad I got to see it then in its more natural state. I hope my visitors enjoy the river as much as I have. -Dwight

Blue Run Birthday

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I celebrated her 65th at the Blue Run on the Rainbow. We loved the cabin, the yard, the decks, and the river. An amazing, fun, comfortable place.

Very nice location on the river

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the cabin. It is a cute quaint cabin right on the river with lots of activities to do like canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, etc. The location is great, close to the town but it still feels secluded.

Awesome property, awesome location, awesome owner!

  • 5 of 5

We will definitely return to this property. Its location on the rainbow river is perfect and the owner provides everything you need for a comfortable stay. Both the grounds and home are well cared for and has everything you need for your stay. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen has every cooking utensil you will need, and there are plenty of kayaks, paddle boards, tubes, and life jackets to use --- right out of the backyard. Plenty of space for kids to run around. We recommend you bring beach towels, a bucket and nets (for kids to play at the water), and a fire log for the fireplace and wood for the outdoor fire pit. If you stay here - please be respectful and leave the property in the state you found it as the owner ensures everything is clean and perfect upon arrival. Absolutely zero issues with our stay! Awesome.

Tranquil setting. Will be back.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here fro an extended weekend. Very private and quiet. (Just 1 neighbor who is really nice). We used the kayaks that are available to you along with fishing poles and tackle. My hubby caught a nice size bass.

Kitchen well stocked, even with several seasonings and spices for you to use. Everything clean, and the decor and unique touches were really nice.

The setting on the water, having a hammock and being able to view the water while sitting in Jacuzzi made this for a very much needing relaxing time. We will do it again.

Peace and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

Blue Run Cabin was just the R&R we were looking for, we loved the privacy and peacefulness of the location! Every morning was spent on the deck with our binoculars observing all the wildlife and bird activity. We kayaked every day and relaxed in the hammock. Wonderful house, wonderful location! Rainbow River is a very special place.
