Enjoy this newly constructed dovetail log home during your stay in beautiful Homer. This customized home was built from spruce trees collected and milled in the Homer area. The rocks were mined in Hope, Alaska and artfully placed. This is truly an Alaskan home.
Most rooms have large picture windows where you can enjoy the breathtaking views of Kachemak Bay, the Kenai Mountains, Grewingk Glacier, and the famous Homer Spit. This 2000 square foot home has three floors including a very large loft and offers three bedrooms and three baths. Meals can be prepared in the full kitchen that is equipped with all the necessary amenities or you can eat at any of Homer's excellent restaurants.
The owners, Jerry and Lou, are world travelers and are nearby if assistance is needed during your stay. We are familiar with the Homer area and willing to help make your stay more comfortable. We are very proud of the log home since we did most of the construction. Someday we will retire in this home.

Jerry & Lou purchased this house in 2000
We love Homer and would love to tell you about it.
My sister and I rented Lou & Jerry's house as part of a milestone birthday trip to Alaska. We stayed 9 nights. The house felt quite spacious. The view is beautiful. The location is great. The home was clean and nicely furnished and really felt like home to us. We appreciated having wi-fi and all the books and games ... and wild raspberries and Lou's raspberry jam (thanks, Lou!). We would have spent lots of time on the deck had the weather permitted. If we get back to Homer, our first rental choice would again be this house!
Favorite restaurant: The Little Mermaid
Favorite carry out: Two Sisters Bakery
Awesome activities: Bear watching in Lake Clark National Park (travel to/from by helicopter), guided kayaking in Peterson Bay with St. Augustine's, and, for free, watching huge numbers of sea otters near the Spit on the incoming tide.
Favorite shopping: Fireweed Gallery
Be sure to visit Halibut Cove during your stay! It is worth it!
We (me, husband, our 2 girls ages 16 and 12) really enjoyed our time at this home. We had wonderful weather during our stay, which allowed us to see the gorgeous view of the bay the entire time. The house is about 10-15 minutes drive from the Spit. Very quiet and serene location. Jerry and Lou live nearby and were there to greet us upon arrival and departure. They're a very nice couple and gave helpful information when asked.
The 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms gave us plenty of space to relax! The upstairs bedroom is a loft and there are 2 large windows across from it that don't have window coverings, if that's an issue for you. The other 2 bedrooms had window coverings. Our 12 year-old didn't mind a bit and enjoyed staying in the loft. All of the beds were so comfortable.
*Make reservations to dine at The Little Mermaid on the Spit. The food is so amazing, we ate there twice. It's pricey, but delicious. There are only 5 tables for dinner, so you have to make a reservation.
*Bring laundry detergent, shampoo/conditioner, and any spices you want with you to this VRBO site. There's a Safeway in Homer to pick up needed food/supplies.
*We had a great 1/2 day kayak tour with Kelsey from True North Adventures. Highly recommend.
*If you're looking for a hike but don't want to pay the $80 to take a boat to the other side of the bay, go to the Wynn Nature Center. For a small price, they have beautiful grounds to hike around. We even saw a moose! Do the entire trail--it's gorgeous.
*Smoothies from the COOL Juicy Bus are delicious! Perfect for after a long hike.
*Get a sticky bun or two(!) from the Two Sisters Bakery after visiting the Islands & Oceans Visitor Center (free admission).
Our family of 4 enjoyed a wonderful 4-night stay in the log home. It was clean, well-stocked, and well-maintained. The views are spectacular. Jerry and Lou are warm gracious hosts. We will definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
This home had everything you could want, beautiful, Clean, lots of space for kids and the most beautiful views of glaciers and Kachemak Bay. My 2 boys had a blast playing outside on the beautiful big lawn and my mother in law took a bunch of beautiful flowers on property. It is away from town but only about 5min drive to get there. We woke up first morning to Mama Moose and her 2 baby's. The host Jerry was super helpful and nice. He have us a recommendation for a Halibut charter Captain Pete, that was a blast awesome day. We can't wait to go back to Homer and stay at this house again.
This Alaskan Log Home was exactly what we wanted, stunning views, peace and quiet and a stocked house. The house had even little things stocked like tissues, toilet paper, napkins, paper towels, trash bags, etc. so I didn't have to buy/bring those items with me. The freezer had plenty of space for the fish that we caught and the owner provided us with a charcoal grill and all the supplies necessary to cook up our fresh catch. The winery down the road had wonderful local berry-wines which topped off the perfect peaceful retreat. We fell in love with both Homer and this house.
Nice "out of town" quiet location with great views, great cabin, wonderful owners! No TV reception (or TV didn't work) but who needs a TV in a place like that!
