A stay to remember
Peace and tranquility after our long journey from Australia, the houseboat was just what we needed. Comfortable and spacious, containing everything we needed.
Lovely to sit on the upper deck for morning coffee or evening drinks.
The friendly local boat folks invited us to their evening campfire.
A short taxi ride into St Paul, which is a beautiful city, or you could walk to public transport only a couple of blocks away..
We enjoyed a paddle steamer cruise along the upper Mississippi from Harriet Island.
The cathedral and Capital building are also great to see.
Would definitely stay here again. The owners were helpful during the booking process and during our stay.
A "peace" of history.
The houseboat is a lovely home away from home! Spacious and comfy. Peace and quiet each evening after exploring. Enjoyed the company of local boating folk around the campfire. Would recommend this stay"
Amazing Time in St. Paul and Minneapolis
I flew to Minneapolis for a work conference being held at the convention center. I wanted to extend my stay while I was already there and explore some other parts of Minnesota after the conference ended. I read some articles about locals living on houseboats along the Mississippi River and I was intrigued. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to experience the Mississippi myself just like a local :-) The houseboat was so cute and quaint and the perfect base camp for my adventures. It's just minutes from the airport and very easy to find. It's only about 15 minutes from downtown Minneapolis so you can easily experience Minneapolis and St. Paul both while staying here. I even drove to Chanhassen to see Prince's Paisley Park and that was only about 20 minutes away too so it was the perfect location. Chris sent a great recap email the week of my arrival to let me know how to get there, how to access the houseboat and marina and gave me some suggestions of things to do in the area. There is a great hiking trail right next to the marina called Crosby Farm Regional Park. Definitely check out Indian Mounds Park. It's very cool with Native American heritage ties. If you go, make sure you go to the overlook, kneel in the cement circle and talk towards the sign at the overlook. You'll be surprised at what you hear :-) A local was there and walked us through it or we would've never known about it. Pazzaluna downtown St. Paul had the best pizza ever. And definitely go to downtown St. Paul and walk along the Mississippi and check out Harriet Island Park and Raspberry Island. If you can fit it in, check out the Chain of Lakes in the area as well and the Lake Harriet band shell concert performances. And Minnehaha Falls was great for hiking as well. If you go to downtown Minneapolis and love live music, check out First Avenue and Dakota's Jazz Club. Had an amazing time everywhere. Minneapolis/St. Paul was such an undiscovered gem for me. I'll definitely be back!
Really great place to stay.
All and all it was nice. Quiet marina. Lights on upper deck would have been much appreciated.
It was good. Quaint and quiet.
Overall it was a very nice stay. The only reason it did not get 5 stars was the noisy air conditioner. Very relaxing on both decks with coffee and drinks. Great hiking areas!!!
