Why Candus Suppelsa chose Flathead Lake

We searched all over the state of Montana for property but when we saw the view of this home on the cover of Home Seekers magazine in 1994 we were awestruck. We have loved every minute of every season in this beautiful home while we vacationed with our two children.

Stunning view, beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

First off, my wife and I could not get over the view of the lake and the mountains right off the deck. It stops you in your tracks. We could have spent half our week just sitting out there staring at the changing scenery as the sun would come up over those mountains in the morning and when the setting sun would change the scenery colors at dusk. (The property also has a second dock on the other side where we sat to watch some stunning sunsets!) The lake was so wonderfully calm and peaceful for kayaking and canoeing. About the only traffic we saw was a fisherman or two. The house at Echo Lake Retreat also had all the conveniences you'd need for a great escape. A clean, comfortable place with a genuine "lake place" kind of feel to it. The owners have a lot of great information about where to eat out and where to venture. We found some amazing hikes not that far from Echo Lake Retreat on the other side of the lake. An amazing stay!

Absolutely Stunning!!

  • 5 of 5

There was nothing about the Echo Lake Retreat we did not like!! A beautiful cabin nestled in the trees surrounded by water. Deer, wild turkeys and bald eagles roam around the cabin. You feel like you are in a painting. So peaceful and beautiful. Stunning views on every side. Everything to make your stay enjoyable was provided. Candus was so wonderful to work with and we felt she was anxious for us to have a good time. The cabin was very well maintained and clean. It is located within striking distance to hiking, fishing, Glacier National Park, water sports, fun unique restaurants and many other activities. The two private docks, canoes and kayaks only added to the enjoyment our family had. It is a wonderful and magical place!! You, like us, will not want to leave!

Missing Echo Lake! Kim I.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Echo Lake Retreat. The location was perfect - amazing views of the lake and Swan Mountain Range, two docks - one facing East to enjoy the morning sun and one West facing for watching the sun set and ideal for swimming in the tranquil bay. The trees surrounding the deck make it nice and private; we spent a lot of time out there - morning coffee; meals; evening board games and star gazing, (we were lucky our week coincided with a meteor shower!) We enjoyed the kayaks and appreciated having access to lifejackets and other water toys. We brought our own paddleboards and really had fun exploring the islands and bays on them. The cabin was very comfortable - clean, with all the amenities yet still maintained a cabin feel. The area had a lot to offer, besides enjoying the lake, we hiked to the summit of Mount Aeneas, (we found it a little strenous but our adult kids had no problem,) and we were thrilled to encounter a Mountain goat and her baby. We followed up on some of the restaurant suggestions - El Topo had great Mexican food and Echo Lake Cafe was yummy. We also took in the Whitefish Farmers Market and brought back a couple of Huckleberry pies that were fantastic. Okay, I'm running out of creative adjectives, so I'll wrap this up by saying Candus was great to deal with and we're hoping to return again some day to Echo Lake Retreat!

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

Perfect place for our family of 5. Daughter and her family used the canoe and laid out on the decks and docks. Water was a little too cold for them. We were visiting family, so we were at the cabin mostly to sleep. Did grill one night and had family over. Was within 10 mins of family's home. So it was very conveniently located for us.

Evans' Family

We spent a week in July at Echo Lake Retreat and did NOT want to leave. This home has everything you need and more. We loved the 2 docks with the kayaks and canoes. We flew from Tennessee, and it was wonderful to have all the floats, chairs, life jackets and towels there for our use. The beds are very comfortable, and we enjoyed the many games there to play with our kids. The views are amazing! Candus, the owner, is wonderful to work with. She gave us great recommendations for hiking and restaurants and promptly answered any questions I texted to her.

Best Location on Echo!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED our stay at the Echo Lake Retreat during the week of July 4th. There was plenty of room to spread out in the home - with our 3 children (ages 15, 11, and 7), as well as a visit from my parents for one night.

The home is very clean, nicely decorated with a cozy cabin feel, and well equipped for a weeks stay. The beds were very comfortable and had higher end linens. The washer and dryer were a big plus for taking care of the lake towels and swimming gear. We also liked that the home has two levels with a bedroom, bath, and living area downstairs which allowed for separation/privacy when needed. The only thing we noticed that perhaps could be improved upon, would be the upstairs bathroom shower drain, as it took a very long time to drain.

The location on the lake is second to none! Quiet and with the most beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains (in fact my Instagram photos I took while there have inspired a few friends to visit Echo Lake next summer!) With two docks, one for swimming in the bay, and the other for boating activities, it was perfect. We used the provided canoes and kayaks daily, and rented 2 wave-runners - the large dock easily accommodated everything. The owners provide an entire storage area with tons of life-jackets, floats, deck chairs, etc for your use during your stay- A+. Echo Lake was warm, a lot warmer than the surrounding lakes, and even with our family coming from AZ, we swam and played in the lake all day every day!

The owner, Candus, was a pleasure to work with. She always responded promptly and was very professional - booking was a breeze! Thank you Candus for opening up your home to us and for a week of super fun memories! We hope to return again!

Owner's Response: Nicole, thank you so much for taking the time to write this review and for being such conscientious renters. I'm so happy you and your family had such a wonderful time over the 4th. Thank you also for alerting me to the slow drain in the tub which has now been taken care of for future guests. I sure hope you can return for another visit in the near future! Sincerely, Candus
