Why Candus Suppelsa chose Flathead Lake

We searched all over the state of Montana for property but when we saw the view of this home on the cover of Home Seekers magazine in 1994 we were awestruck. We have loved every minute of every season in this beautiful home while we vacationed with our two children.

Fantastic Montana lake side resort!!

What a fabulous 2 week vacation we have had here with our son, (who moved here 10 years ago) and 2 of our grandchildren (Sadie, 13 and Dylan, 9). The biggest surprise of our life was 2 nights after we got here, about 9 PM, our son said he had to run a quick errand and would be back in about an hr. We couldn't imagine where he was going, and when we heard his truck pull in, our grand daughter said he had a girl with him. Next thing we know, our daughter walked in the door and shocked us totally. (He had gone to the Kalispell airport to pick her up. ) She and Doug had cooked this up as a surprise, and we were totally shocked!! So, we had our two kids and 2 of our grand children here with s for the first week and it couldn't have been more wonderful!! We have had our ski boat here for the entire time and have worn our selves out skiing, wake boarding, knee boarding and tubing. We aso loved the kayaks and canoe, and explored the lake on those.

We've had some really crazy weather while we have been here--you name it, we saw it, including hail stones one night. It made for some amazing sunsets which we enjoyed from both docks. We also had some wonderful sunny warm days, which we thoroughly enjoyed on the lake.

Our grandson loved fishing and was so proud that he caught 14 fish, which he returned to the water.

Some of the fun things we did:

1) Hiked Jewel basin to Twin Lakes

2) Hiked to Strawberry Lake 3.8 miles

3) Went to numerous locations and picked Huckleberries

4) Rode the chair lift up Big Mtn, and hiked the 3.6 "Danny O Trail" down

What a wonderful lake retreat

We loved the Echo Lake retreat. The house is well supplied to make your visit easy. The canoes and kayaks were a big hit with everyone in our party. Candus was easy to work with and this was one of our best vacation rental experiences.

Stunning view, beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

First off, my wife and I could not get over the view of the lake and the mountains right off the deck. It stops you in your tracks. We could have spent half our week just sitting out there staring at the changing scenery as the sun would come up over those mountains in the morning and when the setting sun would change the scenery colors at dusk. (The property also has a second dock on the other side where we sat to watch some stunning sunsets!) The lake was so wonderfully calm and peaceful for kayaking and canoeing. About the only traffic we saw was a fisherman or two. The house at Echo Lake Retreat also had all the conveniences you'd need for a great escape. A clean, comfortable place with a genuine "lake place" kind of feel to it. The owners have a lot of great information about where to eat out and where to venture. We found some amazing hikes not that far from Echo Lake Retreat on the other side of the lake. An amazing stay!

Absolutely Stunning!!

  • 5 of 5

There was nothing about the Echo Lake Retreat we did not like!! A beautiful cabin nestled in the trees surrounded by water. Deer, wild turkeys and bald eagles roam around the cabin. You feel like you are in a painting. So peaceful and beautiful. Stunning views on every side. Everything to make your stay enjoyable was provided. Candus was so wonderful to work with and we felt she was anxious for us to have a good time. The cabin was very well maintained and clean. It is located within striking distance to hiking, fishing, Glacier National Park, water sports, fun unique restaurants and many other activities. The two private docks, canoes and kayaks only added to the enjoyment our family had. It is a wonderful and magical place!! You, like us, will not want to leave!

Missing Echo Lake! Kim I.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Echo Lake Retreat. The location was perfect - amazing views of the lake and Swan Mountain Range, two docks - one facing East to enjoy the morning sun and one West facing for watching the sun set and ideal for swimming in the tranquil bay. The trees surrounding the deck make it nice and private; we spent a lot of time out there - morning coffee; meals; evening board games and star gazing, (we were lucky our week coincided with a meteor shower!) We enjoyed the kayaks and appreciated having access to lifejackets and other water toys. We brought our own paddleboards and really had fun exploring the islands and bays on them. The cabin was very comfortable - clean, with all the amenities yet still maintained a cabin feel. The area had a lot to offer, besides enjoying the lake, we hiked to the summit of Mount Aeneas, (we found it a little strenous but our adult kids had no problem,) and we were thrilled to encounter a Mountain goat and her baby. We followed up on some of the restaurant suggestions - El Topo had great Mexican food and Echo Lake Cafe was yummy. We also took in the Whitefish Farmers Market and brought back a couple of Huckleberry pies that were fantastic. Okay, I'm running out of creative adjectives, so I'll wrap this up by saying Candus was great to deal with and we're hoping to return again some day to Echo Lake Retreat!

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

Perfect place for our family of 5. Daughter and her family used the canoe and laid out on the decks and docks. Water was a little too cold for them. We were visiting family, so we were at the cabin mostly to sleep. Did grill one night and had family over. Was within 10 mins of family's home. So it was very conveniently located for us.
