THIS IS A NON SMOKING APARTMENT
We're a french family who's been living in this apartment for several years. We moved to allow our children to have their own room but we now live at a 10 minutes walking distance from the apartment.
Christophe purchased this apartment in 2000
We stayed (family of 4 with teenage boys) in the apartment over Christmas break. Communication with the owner was very easy and effective. Location is convenient, safe and quiet. The apartment is true to the information provided, clean and well maintained. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to our friends.
The apartment was exactly as shown in the pictures; in addition, it was very well equipped (not least the very detailed information about everything). Also we appreciated a lot the easy and straightforward communication before the trip and the warm welcome.
The neighborhood is very nice, lots of restaurants, boulangeries, supermarkets.
We would definitely come back and recommend the apartment to anyone who is able and willing to climb four stairs :-).
Christophe greeted us at 8:00 am with a platter of croissants. This was a welcomed treat after our long overseas flight. The apartment was very clean and well equipped for our family of five. The bathroom is tiny but we managed for almost 2 weeks. There is no lift so be prepared to climb four flights of stairs. When we had questions regarding the washing machine our host immediately came over to help us. There is also a book with suggested places to eat and shop in the area. Even though the 11th is a bit removed from the major sites, we preferred the location. It is close to the metro, a fabulous open market with fantastic prices on produce, cheeses and meats. There are numerous bars and pastry shops close by as well as grocery stores. Our children enjoyed the small park by our house. It is a great space to unwind after a long day of site seeing. The only downside to the apartment was it did not have air conditioning. While we were in Paris they hit the 2nd hottest day on record. The heat was brutal. But we kept the windows open and listened to the noises of the neighbor around us which made us feel more like locals. It would have been nice to have had fans at least for the bedrooms. Also the pillows are down, which I'm allergic to. Thankfully I brought my own pillows but the hubby had not so he had to sleep in a different room. Hypoallergenic pillows should be standard in a rental. I would highly recommend this apartment. We enjoyed our stay and loved the hospitality of Christophe.
Very nice apartment...clean and well equipped...wonderful and warm host...everything was just as advertised. Location is fabulous...close to Metro (we used Ledru Rollin)...street fair on Allegre Street...restaurants, bars, and shops...very quiet site right in the heart of a vibrant neighborhood. Christophe was very helpful and quick to reply to questions...he met us at the apartment, as agreed, and reviewed everything we needed to know to have a good stay...and was quick to follow up after our trip to gauge our satisfaction, and ensure we received our deposit back. His neighborhood information packet and map were outstanding! We found his recommendations for dining and drinks to be very accurate...this a neighborhood loaded with good patisseries...don't miss the fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers at the Allegre Market...and don't be shy about bargaining...it was a great way to laugh and learn a few new French words.
The bedrooms and living area are good sized with tall ceilings and bright paint, and huge windows and gauze covers to enjoy the breeze while excluding insects...we left them wide open all night and woke to cool mornings. The kitchen and bathroom are quite small, but well equipped. We had no problem cooking complex meals using the stove top and oven microwave...everything else we needed but food was in the cabinets. The bathroom was very tight but in very good condition....it took a bit of care to position the shower curtain just right to keep the floor dry...for a Paris apartment, we think it was probably pretty typical...by Day Two we had no problem adapting to the tight size.
The stairs were a great way to warm up for the day walking around Paris...though steep, they were doable for anyone in reasonable shape...the building itself was very charming and reflected a sense of style not seen in American apartments. Just remember, on arrival, take the left set of steps from the lobby (the ones by the mailboxes)...we took the right side, only to discover we had to retreat five floors down with our suitcases and repeat the climb...Christophe's warm welcome soon had us back on track.
We would stay here again if we return to Paris...proximity to Gare de Lyon made arrival via the Air France Le Bus easy and quick...the walk to the apartment through a great shopping district took about 15 minutes and was very welcome after sitting on a plane for twelve hours. At the end of every incredible day, it felt like coming home.

Aligre is a typical Parisian district, appreciated and demanded.
Le marché Aligre is very close to the apartment (200 meters). It is one of the oldest and most famous markets in Paris. It takes place everyday (except on mondays) and provides a very charming and animated life to the area.
Many cafés, restaurants and all kinds of shops (food & clothes) are at your doorstep or within a very short walking distance.
There's always people in the street, you can walk around at any time of the day or night very safely.
La place de la Bastille is within walking distance (10 minutes) and so is the Gare de Lyon station with its direct access to Eurodisney.
Public transportation is also available in the quarter which makes it the ideal place to discover Paris and its suburbs.
