We take your connectivity very seriously. We know that taking the time to break away from home and work is not always easy and that maintaining a reliable internet connection is sometimes vital. To make sure that you are protected from any unlikely connection breakdowns while staying at Stunning Penthouse, we have added a back-up fibre optical network.

The flat is located a stroll away from the Louvre (500 meters to be precise) and the river Seine, the historic Opera Garnier, the place Vendome, rue Saint-Honoré (the most exclusive high-end shopping street), rue de la Paix (the epicentre of exclusive Jewellers) the Royal Tuileries Gardens and the hidden gem of the first and most secluded landscaped shopping-arcade-encased garden of the Palais-Royal, a creation of the Cardinal Richelieu. It is also adjacent to the grid formed by Paris' 4 most exclusive, desirable and enchanting Palaces. The mythical Ritz, the Meurice, new home to France's most acclaimed chef (with a combined 9 Michelin stars, the highest distinction ever achieved), the Hyatt with arguably one of the most exciting bars in Paris, serving possibly the best mojitos in town and last but not least the Costes where the desirable crowd of fashion and modelling gathers every night for drinks and stylish dining.

The penthouse sits on the fourth floor of an exquisite 17th century building where Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet, bishop, theologian and Court preacher to Louis XIV of France, spent the last years of his life. The monumental stairway fully restored to its previous glory and a commemorative plaque are present day witness of the building's stately past.

In an understated contrast with the rigorous classicism of the 24-hours concierged building, is the interior fully designed by an architect in a quirky understated luxury style. Despite the very high standards and the meticulous care in the choice of fabrics, carpets and signature vintage furniture, we placed an emphasis on having relaxed, functional and easy interiors.

The apartment is arranged around the terrace with a welcoming burgundy-tiled entrance, complete with coat hangers, a fully equipped Italian designer kitchen with brand new appliances, leading to a breakfast area with its Swedish 18th century sculptured table and matching chairs. From there you can access the terrace directly, or if the weather is more rigorous, enjoy the open views towards an olive tree and Montmartre from the warmth of your interior. The kitchen has all modern appliances, including a state-of-the art espresso machine for your morning coffee and a wine fridge. The entrance also leads to a separate toilet. The living area is a semi-open large 500 sq ft space where you can dine around a Danish 1960 Palissandre table with its unique set of matching chairs, work on an iconic early 20th century Czech desk while connected to the internet through our free WiFi, enjoy a read from a vastly supplied library with books in both English and French, rehearse your piano classics, idle on an English coach listening to one of over 400 CDs on our Cyrus+Wharefedale professional HiFi system, call charge free from our phone or watch one of our 500 DVD films at your disposal. Three large French windows open directly from the living area into the terrace.

The sleeping area is separate by two gliding Japanese wild cherry wood doors and is composed of two bedrooms, one being a large 250 sq ft en-suite with a dressing attached and early 20th century English Arts Décoratifs double-bed together with a best-money-can buy mattress, and the other a kids room sleeping two in bunk beds. Both rooms share the same bathroom. Each room has separate direct access to the roof terrace through its its own French window.

Finally the terrace has been designed to reflect the interior living space starting with a dining table for 4, a lounge area with seating for 5, a sun bed and lots of skies.

Here are the characteristics of the flat:

- Central: the flat is located in the geographic epicenter of Paris; if you are found of walking, there is no major area, site or attraction that you cannot reach by foot; else, there are 5 Metro and 8 bus stations all within 5 minutes serving 5 underground lines, and a network of a dozen bus lines;

- Stylish: the flat is exclusively vintage furnished

- Unique: the terrace has been designed and fully furnished to a hotel standard by Unopiu, from the teak wooden floors to the lighting system and sun bed;

great stay with Alex

We stayed at Alex's apartment for 4 days is early July 2016. 2 adults and 2 teens aged 18 and 16. We had a positive experience.

First, all business with Alex was seemless. He communicated by email and text promptly and provided great assistance. Meet us at check in to ensure we were taken care of and sent follow up messages to make sure everything was going well during our stay. Outstanding communication across the board so you can trust he will be engaged fully in your stay. That is always important to me and Alex was very good.

Second, the apartment is very nice and is as represented in the photos. Well done in all respects, books, dvd's, wifi, plenty of linens, Paris information - everything you need. Good and well stocked kitchen, and properly cleaned upon arrival.

Third, the apartment location is outstanding - good bakeries and restaurants nearby and easy walk to several key sites and metro stations (although we used uber several times upon Alex's recommendation, which is the way to go in Paris).

I would recommend this to anyone going to Paris, especailly a family of 4 - but you do need to have decent heatlh since you have to climb the stairs. Not a problem for our group but this is not a place for people with health/stamina issues.

The apartment was amazing. So close to everything including metro, groceries, restaurants, shopping and attractions.

Alex's cyber attention was incredible. I never hesitated to call if we couldn't find something or was concerned about anything in the apartment. He always answered his phone (even on his own vacation) which was nice when you feel a bit lost.

The apartment is beautiful and spacious, our kids could have their own down time while we relaxed with a glass of wine on the beautiful terrace listening to the buzzing sounds below.

I wouldn't hesitate to book this apartment again. Everything was perfect.

great location and charming balcony!

The location of this flat is a great asset. We walked everywhere we wished to go (except for the bois de bologne!), with an occasional taxi due to rain. Reviewers mention Alex repeatedly and we are sorry that our paths did not cross directly. Yet, he was extremely responsive via email to a couple of small requests we had and we deeply appreciated his attentiveness. The flat is very comfortable. Each room has french doors that open on to a 5th floor long balcony as seen in the photos. This apartment is best for a couple or a family with children (though not too young due to the balcony! ;-) since the shower can only be accessed by walking through the master bedroom, and the master bedroom occupants must walk through the second bedroom to get to the main living spaces. Luckily, the balcony can serve as a hallway should you not wish to intrude on anyone in the second bedroom, which is what we did so as not to disturb our aunt who accompanied us. Overall the apartment is charming, clean, well equipped, and in a beautiful historic building situated on a lovely street with plenty of shopping. The neighborhood feels authentically parisian. If you've had too many croissants, there are also terrific japanese restaurants nearby!

Perfect location, outstanding specifications

I booked this rental unit as a surprise 40th birthday present to my husband. We brought along our two kids, age 13 and 8. This was our first trip to Paris. The unit is so central, that if you look at a Paris map and pin a needle in the middle, that would be where the flat is located. What we appreciated was the fact that centrality didn't equate to touristy, quite the opposite actually, as the neighborhood had a very vibrant typical Parisian life to it. Over the short 6 days, we developed a daily routine with morning fresh breads and croissants from three wonderful boulangeries scattered steps away, great wine from the wine shop located downstairs, daily strolls in the Palais-Royal garden, which was literally our backyard. It all felt very upscale and safe too, especially the gated building itself and the fact that it has a 24 hours resident concierge. Given the location, most of our sightseeing was done on foot, whether the museums, all scattered around, the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain, on the other side of the river or the Marais which is equidistant to the flat from the Pompidou museum. The only downside to the location is that it is bang at the cross-roads of the three most upscale shopping axis in Paris, so if you are inclined, that could be quite a ruinous experience...Anyhow, the owner has a really handy and chunky guide to the area and Paris that saved us a lot of time. He emailed this well ahead of arrival. We tried most of his restaurant recommendations and none was a miss.

The flat is really exquisite, and as pictured. It is the perfect set-up for a family of 4 with a lot of space, both indoors and outdoors. The kids loved their room and ours was quite, well, romantic...There was evidently a lot of attention paid to decoration and everything is well kept. The flat is very well equipped although we didn't really take advantage of any of it. It is perfect for guests who enjoy indoor cooking and chilling. We are more of the active sort, but absolutely loved going back after our long days.

The owner is very communicative, caring and informative and he helped us through with many small details that made the stay quite an unforgettable experience. One special mention for his total flexibility when it comes to check-in and check-out times. He really went far and above to accomodate us.

For the last 15 years, my wife and I came to Paris once every two years. So far, we have only stayed in Saint-Germain and the Marais, either in hotels or vacation rentals. This was our first stay in the Palais-Royal area, next to Place Vendome and Opera, and by far our best. The flat was simply amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed the neighborhood. The Paris experience we got was delightful and very authentic, and we owe most of this to the wonderful host who is extremely generous in sharing a very seasoned wealth of local knowledge. In all honesty, the mass of information he gracefully shared with us ahead of arrival amounted to a pre-trip planning service, totally complimentary...Thanks to him, we had our best meal ever in Paris, and we thought we knew the restaurant scene quite well over there.... Also worth mentioning that the unit is managed very professionally: while there, we had a minor plumbing issue that was fixed on the same day, and while we didn't need it, there is a cable internet back-up connection.

The flat is exactly as pictured (if anything the pictures don't do it total justice) and is loaded with very impressive works of art. We were blessed with the weather, so our daily dilemma when we got back from sightseeing was whether we stayed indoors to enjoy the art or outdoors to enjoy the great views of the Sacré-Coeur!!

Soooo much better than staying in a Parisian Hotel!!!

My husband and I have visited Paris numerous times, but this was our first in an apartment rental. We traveled with our 14 year old niece (her first time to Paris) and decided that an apartment would give us the luxury of space. At Alex's penthouse, we found plenty of room to relax and enjoy ourselves. My husband could read peacefully in the master bedroom while my niece and I enjoyed the huge DVD collection in the spacious living room. We enjoyed eating and planning our daily adventures at the dining table. It really is a treat to have so much space!

The apartment was identical to the pictures Alex has provided. Because we had rain EVERY DAY, we were not able to enjoy the gorgeous terrace. :( The apartment was quiet at night and it was very pleasant to open the terrace doors a bit to enjoy a cool breeze.

The location is terrific! So great to have the choice of a handful of metro stations in planning our adventures out into the city. We are also big on walking, as Paris is the most stunning city in the world, and the location could not be better for access to the Opera, Louvre, restaurants and shopping. And with the four flights of stairs, you don't need to feel guilty about enjoying a croissant!

As so many reviewers have noted, Alex is a kind, generous and informative host. He emailed us several days prior to our trip to provide his guide, confirm our arrival time and welcome us. He was especially helpful in providing recommendations for shopping for our niece. He is genuinely interested in helping his guests enjoy their stay. I would not hesitate in renting an apartment from Alex in the future. I truly hope that our paths will cross again!
