Beautiful Timber-Frame Cottage - Canandaigua Lake

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Come enjoy this beautiful timber-frame cottage built in 2004 on the quiet, dead-end, South Lake Road. The property is approximately 2 acres backing onto South Hill. There are beautiful views of Canandaigua Lake from the vaulted ceiling Great Room and truly spectacular views from the 'Eyebrow' balcony above the front door.

The kitchen is fully equipped and is open to the great room and dining room. The great room has beautiful timberframing, a stone fireplace and couches that are great for napping or enjoying the view of the Lake. There is a screened in porch off the great room to enjoy sunsets over the lake while eating dinner. Completing the main level is a master bedroom and bath (lake views of course), a den/bedroom, full hall bath and mud room. On the lower level there are two more bedrooms; one with 2 sets of bunk beds and the other with a double bed - both bedrooms have lake views. Completing the lower level is a full bath, a family room area with TV, ping pong and games as well as a garage.

You have 150 feet of private lakefront to enjoy including a permanent dock and buoy for your boat. There are about 25 steps down to the lake. The water depth at the end of the dock is about five plus feet dropping off to about 10 feet another 20 feet out. There is a refrigerator, picnic table, chairs and a fire ring for your use Lakeside. Also included are two kayaks and a small rowboat for your fun.

The house is located at 1003 South Lake Road, about 1/2 mile south of Vine Valley (probably 4-5 miles north of the south end of the lake on the east side). The house is located across the road from the lake which is typical on South Lake Road. South Lake road is a narrow, dead-end road with very little traffic. Many people from the neighborhood enjoy walking, biking and jogging along the road as it has great views of the lake and many interesting houses.

What else is there to say... we love it and are sure you will too. Thanks for your interest.

Water issues

  • 4 of 5

Only issue was no running water Monday morning to take showers. Also could not use ensuite showers all because it only had cold water. Not sure why that was but it was somewhat annoying.

Owner's Response: The water filter in the water purification system failed causing the water supply to be diminished. This occurred on the day these guests were scheduled to depart so there was no opportunity to fix it prior them leaving. It has since been repaired. I am puzzled about the comment regarding no hot water in one of the bathrooms since we have had guests stay since this group and no one has mentioned any problems.

Lovely family gathering

  • 5 of 5

What a great spot for our families to meet! With 6 adults and 4 young kids (Ages 1,2,5 &5), we were so thrilled with all that this house had to offer us during our three days there. There were plenty of toys/puzzles/games for the kids, and it was well set up for cooking big meals while enjoying the views of the lake. The kids loved the bunk bed set up in the downstairs bedroom. There were plenty of local farm stands on our drive to the house, and great local wine. We went to Naples for the Grape Festival, which was busy, but fun, but really - the house itself was where we wanted to be. Our kids enjoyed rolling down the hill in the backyard, going for row boat rides, swinging on the hammock by the beach, and throwing rocks into the water. Although it was a bit cold for swimming, we let the kids romp around in the water for a while, as the beach had a nice shallow entry. The big kids took long walks along the road, and cycled the local, but hilly roads. It was really perfect. Just remember to bring your own towels :) - I missed that detail, but fortunately Mark was gracious enough to lend us some. We hope to come back in the future!

Perfect location, superior property

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time back, and I think I've appreciated the house more each time. It really is so well appointed and such a great set-up for accommodating different combinations of people (singles, couples, disparate ages, etc.). The house is also extremely well-equipped, and the owner super responsive for whatever issues may arise. But bottom line, the house makes the beauty and magic of the lake available for full enjoyment. Highly recommend!

Great House on a Beautiful Lake

  • 5 of 5

We completely enjoyed our family vacation at Evergreen on Canandaigua Lake. The house is perfect for a large family. We had 8-10 there during the week. We spent a lot of time on the dock enjoying the water. In the evening there is plenty of room inside for family fun and games. Some of the group went to a concert at the Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center. All of us enjoyed our dinner at Bristol Harbor. We would love to come back.

Could not have been more perfect !!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a week with extended family in early June of 2016 (8 to 10 at times). The house is very comfortably furnished and with plenty of room for that many guests and still some areas to enjoy the quiet even with a full house. Everything functioned perfectly in this well maintained property and the location and view is outstanding. We were able to fish from the dock, rent and easily dock a boat, enjoy the evening camp fires by the lake and get out for a wine tasting tour in close by Naples. The screened porch was perfect for morning coffee and the kitchen had everything we needed to eat in every day. It was a big hit with everyone. Highly recommended !!

Ideal location, excellent amenitites

  • 5 of 5

We used this house for a week-long family reunion, with daytime visits by friends who live in the area. It was perfect. The house was immaculate, and the kitchen was extremely well stocked. The large windows offer spectacular views of the lake; the living area is spacious and comfortable. The modern kitchen and large dining table were also a boon. The owner was very responsive to any questions that arose. The screen-in porch was perfect for working on puzzles; the upstairs loft and balcony excellent for quiet and reading. The desk in the master bedroom came in handy for those who could not completely escape work, and we all enjoyed our campfires in the large fire pit down by the water and playing badmitten on the grassy lawn behind the house. The property is perfectly located on the lake -- a beautiful spot with easy access to local attractions and downtown. The bedroom configurations offered many options for our diverse group.
