Our house on Brooks is the ideal location to experience all Venice has to offer. A short two block walk to the bustling Abbott Kinney Blvd, five blocks to the famous Venice Beach boardwalk and a 5 minute walk to the new super-hip shops, cafes and restaurants on Rose Avenue.
We haven't listed our house since 2014 because we live here but we're taking a month long trip and are offering our house. One bedroom with a King sized bed, the 2nd bedroom set up for kids with a toddler bed and crib. If you don't have kids you can still use the room with an air mattress.
The tranquil bedrooms each have high ceilings. There’s also a sleep sofa in the living room. The bathroom has a humongous claw-foot tub you'll love. Since our house is newly remodeled it is highly insulated and very quiet inside.
We have a 45” flat screen TV equipped with an Apple TV box loaded with Netflix as well as a DVD Player, Hi-speed WiFi. There's also a gorgeous antique piano for you musicians to play!
The kitchen is fully stocked with a professional restaurant stove, all glass, dish and silverware, dishwasher, pots and pans as well any appliance you would need to cook (blender, food processor, hand mixer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster).
The enchanted yard is the perfect place for a festive, daytime barbeque or a romantic, candlelit dinner. Even our summer nights can get a little chilly so we have a restaurant quality heat lamp to keep you warm outside.
There’s so much to do in Venice during the day- The beach, play tennis, cycle on the boardwalk, take a stroll on Abbott Kinney, take a yoga class! We provide beach towels and chairs, boogie boards, a beach cruiser bike (no additional charge). Let us know if there’s something else you need and we’ll do our best to provide it. A crib? A stroller? Yoga mats? Just let us know how we can help make your Venice vacation awesome.
We are Molly and Alan. We are both Los Angeles natives which seems to be rare! Molly grew up in the Valley in Toluca Lake where her family still lives, while Alan spent his childhood in Santa Monica Canyon.
Molly went to Skidmore College in upstate NY and lived in NYC as a modern dancer and Pilates teacher for 10 years after that. Alan went to Reed College in Oregon before graduating from UC Berkeley. He is a computer consultant, builder, landlord and painter.
We are both passionate animal lovers, cooks, artists and parents. We're thrilled to share our beloved home with you.
Molly and Alan Renshaw purchased this house in 2000
Location location location! You can't beat it - such an easy walk to Abbot Kinney, Rose Ave, the beach as well a giant Whole Foods Market. It's such a cool, quirky gem of a house in such a great neighborhood. Venice is so special with its diverse population and the combination of beach town and hip urban mecca.
Alan bought the house in 2000 and completely remodeled it himself in 2007 keeping the charm and feel of the original structure (like the original hardwood floors). Instead of a bunch of tiny, low ceiling rooms, he made an airy, open floor plan. He raised the ceilings 5 feet, put in a brand new kitchen and cool architectural quirks to make the house very unique, like sky lights, asymmetrical windows and the best claw-foot bathtub ever!
The property is unique because from the street it looks like nothing but behind the fortress walls is a private, bamboo lined, hidden oasis. It's very cozy and quiet at night despite the bustling neighborhood. However, on Sunday mornings if you open the front door and windows, as an added perk you’ll hear the beautiful gospel choir belting out hymns from the Baptist church across the street. You’ll also get an energetic sermon from Pastor Davis for free!
Had a really great time at Molly and Allan's place -- very comfy and has a great vibe! It was lovely sitting out in the yard. Lots of great restaurants nearby on Rose Ave and Abbot Kinney. Biking to the beach was a breeze! Great kitchen. Street parking was not a problem. Highly recommended!
We had a great week in this 2 BR cottage in a great location, just a few blocks from Abbot Kinney (rich hipster central) and a few blocks more to the beach. There is a full kitchen including a restaurant-style gas stove, and a gas grill outside. (We ended up not using the kitchen at all because of the great food choices nearby!) The enclosed yard is private and there is even a patio heater for the cooler evenings. It's not plush, but it has lots of Venice character, it's very clean and functional, it's safe, you have everything you need and more. The owners are extremely responsive and helpful, and their recommendations for food, drink, and activities were spot on. We would definitely stay here again.
Our family spent a week inthis cute house and enjoyed every minute of it. Alan and Molly were very hospitable, leaving toys and a high chair for our small children. There is a cute little courtyard to relax in, and the house is stocked with everything you might need for cooking and grilling. The location is great, close to stores, Abbott Kinney, and a short walk to the beach. One thing that I can say that is unusual for many rental houses, is that the beds were very comfortable.
The only slightly negative thing I can say is that the house does not have air conditioning and the week we spent in Venice was unusually warm. The days were mildly uncomfortable but nights were fine. The house could use more fans. Otherwise I highly recommend it to anyone looking to have a nice holiday!
It was our second trip to Venice beach...the first Time we were at the hôtel and we much prefer to stay in a house...the localisation is amazing...the house is charming...my daughter loved to play with the piano....the Outdoor Space is very great....Well we loved everything about this house....we were supposed to stay four nights and we decide to stay one more night...if we go back to Venice we Will rent this house again!!! Thanks Molly and Allan!!
We stayed 3 nights in this perfectly appointed house and the 4 of us (two moms and two daughters) had plenty of room. Although the square footage is small this house doesn't feel small. The two bedrooms had were large enough to comfortable spread out luggage and the beds were super comfy. The girls slept on the fold out couch/futon in the living room and us moms had a room each. The kitchen had everything you could want - although we wound up eating out most of the time. And yes, loved the claw foot tub as well as the suprisingly expansive bathroom. The owners, Molly and Alan were very responsive and helpful. If you are looking for a cute safe spot in Venice Beach this place is a very good option.
They say 'Nobody walks in LA,' but we walk or ride bikes everywhere. Five blocks (ten minute walk) to the famous Venice Beach Boardwalk, two blocks to Abbot Kinney boulevard ('The Coolest Block in America' according to GQ magazine) and five minute walk to the newest collection of restaurants and shops on Rose Avenue. There's also an mind-blowing Whole Foods Market on Rose with a wide variety of prepared foods and a hot food bar and juice bar.
We're also a short bus ride or 7 minute drive to Downtown Santa Monica and the Third Street Promenade. And for more fun, we're 13 miles to Hollywood and Vine and 16 miles to Downtown LA. The new Metro Expo Train will take you to Downtown LA.
Coming and going, we have easy access to LAX International Airport (15 to 20 minute drive depending on traffic).
