House of two halves.

  • 3 of 5

Upon arriving we were shown around by Lydie and discovered that we had to make up the beds ourselves. We had to ask for linen for one room. After she had left I discovered that my bed had no duvet cover and that whilst upstairs was cleaned to a good standard down stairs wasn't. I emailed the owner who asked Lydie to come back. (Not til Monday) It was important to have it cleaned as there was mouse droppings on one of the work surfaces and you could write your name in the dust on the sideboards in the lounge. (Mum has as asmtha) She didn't bring the key for the linen cupboard so I still had no duvet cover. The house upstairs has been recently renovated and is super with very modern and clean. The beds were comfy with the exception of the two singles which to be fair would be perfect for children but not good for adults or teenagers. The pool area was well maintained and nicely done. Safe as well as lockable gate. The cover for the pool however is broken which means a lot of cleaning as the leaves from the trees fall in plus a toad! The gardens are wonderful and well done and completely secure for children. They are much larger than shown in the info. Downstairs could do with a renovation too and the kitchen is tired and the tiles are hard to keep clean. The fridge is a great size if there is a full house. The downstairs bedroom is grotty and damp. There is a lamp and stand that are broken, it's dark and needs a good clean and to be repainted. As does the downstairs bathroom. Two sides have been tiled but the one that is left is already showing signs of going mouldy. It's a shame as the shower is new and super.

We paid just under 2000 euros for a week and having rented for nearly 25 yrs I was disappointed to have no welcome pack esp as the supermarket (just a few basic is always good after a long journey) (this is the first time we didn't have one) we were informed was closed (in fact it wasn't thank goodness) At this level I don't want to have to make beds!! Also there is NO information pack at all with any details if recycling, emergencies etc (again first time not to have one!) The area is great and lots to see and do. Le Croytoy and St Valary are beautiful. My personal oppinion is that this could be a stunning house with a bit more work and would return if the downstairs was updated and the additional points were changed.

Fabulous location with the charm of rural France!

  • 4 of 5

Having arrived in Vaucelles les Domart we found the property as described in the listing, but you get lots more too!

The location is fabulous, set in mature well cared for grounds. Having entered through the electric gates you only see part of the property and each aspect is different.

The layout of the property suited our party of 4 adults and 2 children, especially the ground floor bedroom for people with reduced mobility.

Other facilities in the property were as you expect in rural France. There are large ground floor living areas containing grand pieces of furniture. The décor is in keeping with this, whereas the first floor bed and bath rooms are of a modern style.

Outside the heated pool area is secluded and well maintained, many a happy hour can be spent eating, drinking and just relaxing.

The owner is a very nice lady called Florence who was not seen, but kept in contact to check we were having a good stay.

We would definitely stay here again and would happily recommend to others looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

Absolutely Lovely

  • 5 of 5

Our group of two families - 4 adults, 3 children, and a baby had an absolutely lovely time here in Vauchelles. The house was a perfect getaway. We made use of the pool everyday (sometimes so hot we had all the umbrellas up around the pool), the children really enjoyed the games room, and spent hours in the pool. The gardens are lovely and made for great fun playing Boules, badminton and treasure hunts! The nearest supermarkets and shops are a five minute drive away in Flixecourt and had everything we could need, we went out most days for fresh bread from the Boulangerie.

The house was lovely and we made use of the log fire in the evenings as the grown ups played games. Upstairs rooms were ideal and allowed us to shift beds around to suit families so that the middle bedroom was accessed without disturbing others. We had a lovely day trip to nearby Amiens, although missed the market day.

The house is ideal if you just want to get away from it all and enjoy a peaceful time, but also close enough to the main routes if you prefer day trips.

Vauchelles les Domart

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The swimming pool was fantastic and the equipment which came with it provided hours of enjoyment. The garden was also very good - lots of space for running around. We also enjoyed exploring Amiens and Abbeville nearby - very impressed with the play facilities for kids.

Vacances en famille

  • 5 of 5
