There are many places to curl up with a book or a glass of wine, and a lovely beacon hill style backyard with BBQ grill and firepit. The backyard includes a propane BBQ grill, outdoor fire pit, and plenty of seating flowing out from the kitchen. The house sleeps 7 people in beds and can accommodate 2 additional on the pull-out sofa in the TV room if desired. Sleeping spaces include:
- 2 upstairs master bedroom suites with en-suite full bathrooms and Queen beds
- Connected to each upstairs suite is an additional small bedroom with a Twin bed in each. Perfect for kids!
- Smaller main floor bedroom with Twin sized day bed that can be converted to a King sized bed if desired
- Living room couch that pulls out to a Queen bed
- We’ve also been known to doze off on the loungers out back and the various couches
On the ground floor of the house there is a separate "in-law" apartment with queen sized bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom. This space is not rented out separately and will be empty during your stay, however, if you are a large group and would like the extra space, it can be booked as well by request.
We spent a wonderful week in Rockport in this charming Colonial! The location was perfect...walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach. Erin was very helpful in providing tips about the area, and giving us the details of the local activities. The house is certainly charming, and quite beautiful and interesting to look through, given its age. My children enjoyed exploring all of the rooms and staircases! We hope to be back to visit again.
We enjoyed our stay very much in this adorable, clean, well-taken-care-of home. Beds were firm, furniture in good repair, and it had everything we needed, including bottle openers, backyard toys, linens, etc. It was truly a joy. The only suggestion I would give is that the owner try to increase the number of garbage cans; we were staying for 9 days and the garbage cans were full after day 3-4 (we brought a lot of paper plates and cups, and ordered pizza). We had to leave the bags in the back yard, where one of them was torn open by an animal. Not fun to clean it up! Also: the free parking that the town provides is not open at night, or on the weekends; so if you have more than one car, you need to park up the street, where there are no meters.
We loved our stay in this beautiful house. We have 3 teenage boys so were very happy to have 3 full bathrooms and a seperate living room for them to hang out in. Plus the washer and dryer was a life saver with all the beach towels and sandy clothes. We were here for the 4th of July and it was amazing to see the parade go by right in front of the house and then to walk to the big bonfire on the beach. Next Summer we will also rent the first floor "in-law" apartment which is empty so that we can spread out even more. Love every minute. Thanks Erin!
My family and I spent a most glorious vacation last summer at this beautiful home that is right in the heart of Rockport Village. We are making plans to return this summer. We love all of the period features of this home, and you can't beat its convenient location.
I did contact the owner (Erin) regarding a few concerns that were mentioned in another review. First, not having AC in the full house is really not a problem. We go to the ocean and love having all the windows open so that we can enjoy the ocean breezes that we came here to enjoy. We would not close up to run AC's, we can do that at home. No full size refrigerator/freezer; the European style is great for us as we go out to so many of the fabulous local restaurants anyway. They are all within short walking distance!!!! The counter temperature above fridge has been repaired; it was a minor issue anyway and is not convenient to guests having repairmen in to disrupt their vacation. I did ask about the comments about the neighbor and the smoke as we had no problems whatsoever. We had many fires in the fire pit and so enjoyed the back yard. Also, this elderly neighbor has since moved into a different living situation. All other neighbors are great; we met some of them. They are very friendly and nice. As to providing firewood; a quick trip to Cumberland Farms got us all the bundles we needed. It seems that providing firewood for the summer would cause multiple problems. Sounds like a nice idea--replace what you use, but as we all know, that would not happen.
Anyway, this is a lovely house in a super convenient location. I thought some review readers would like to know of my follow up with Erin on some of the concerns that were noted in a previous review, and that all have been addressed. I just reserved a week for this summer and can't wait for another vacation at this fabulous house!
We just left this gorgeous house! It was so comfy and spacious with all the amenities we could possibly have needed. We loved strolling across the street to all the shops. We ate breakfast almost every day at the Skiff restaurant right across the street! We loved BBQing at night and made s'mores often on the fire pit. My kids loved snuggling in at night with the endless supply of movies on Streaming Netflix and HBO-Go. Wow, amazing spot we didn't want to leave! We hope to be back again soon. Thanks Erin!
We had such a fantastic stay at Erin's house in Rockport. The location was amazing. Right across the street from all the action along the harbor and on Bearskin neck. We had a hot and sunny week so walked to the beach almost every day which is an easy 5 minute walk along the beautiful harbor-front. Our group was large with 10 people so we opted to rent both this house and the first floor apartment so we could all stay together. We really enjoyed our evenings in the backyard and grilled almost every night (when we weren't getting lobsters right off the boat across the street! There is a fantastic new big gas grill and plenty of chairs for a large group. We were pleasantly surprised to find a small backyard fireplace and asked Erin if we could have small fires and she was fine with us using it as long as the fires were small safe and wasn't too windy. The house itself is old and charming. It has been nicely renovated and is very homey. We found absolutely everything we could ever imagine needing for our stay. There is a TV room, in addition to the living room in the kitchen, with a big TV with all the channels including Hulu Plus and Netflix. Our kids loved relaxing in there with movies. We even found a puzzle of the New England Lighthouses and had a big puzzle board setup in the living room. With a big group we were also very thankful for the full size washer and dryer and used these often with all our sandy beach clothes. Erin was extremely responsive and every question/concern we had we just texted her and she responded right away. The week went too quickly! We will be back!
