About the property

Stately antique Colonial facing the village green and harbor-front shops; period charm fully intact while updated with modern amenities. There are many places to curl up with a book or a glass of wine, and a lovely beacon hill style backyard with BBQ grill and firepit. The house includes 4 fireplaces, wide pine floors, large TV with access to our Netflix, HBO GO and Hulu Plus accounts, DVD player, high-speed wireless internet, and washer/dryer. The backyard includes a propane BBQ grill, outdoor fire pit, and plenty of seating flowing out from the kitchen. Walk just a few minutes to Front Beach or just across the street to all the harbor-front shops, restaurants, and Bearskin Neck! Enjoy true Rockport village and beach life right out your front door.

Off-street parking for one vehicle. We can help you to arrange off-site parking for an additional car if necessary.

The house sleeps 7 people in beds and can accommodate 2 additional on the pull-out sofa in the TV room if desired. Sleeping spaces include:

- 2 upstairs master bedroom suites with en-suite full bathrooms and Queen beds

- Connected to each upstairs suite is an additional small bedroom with a Twin bed in each. Perfect for kids!

- Smaller main floor bedroom with Twin sized day bed that can be converted to a King sized bed if desired

- Living room couch that pulls out to a Queen bed

- We’ve also been known to doze off on the loungers out back and the various couches

On the ground floor of the house there is a separate "in-law" apartment with queen sized bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom. This space is not included in this rental, but can be by request if you are a large group and would like the extra space.

Wonderful vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Loved our vacation here in this great property. Perfect location, and more than enough room for our family of 5 and two small dogs. Enjoyed every second!

Not as advertised

  • 2 of 5

The owner was very accommodating with our early arrival. The rear yard patio and fire pit were nice. However, there did not appear to be any smoke detectors (a serious safety issue ) especially in a home which is this old. The hardwood floors were sagging and hidden by some area rugs. The lower level apartment ceilings were so low - don't rent this space if you are tall. The advertised king pull out bed in the first floor bedroom couldn't be pulled out unless the bedroom door was left wide open into the only room in the house which had a TV. The kitchen was not well equipped (understatement). Didn't use it at all except to boil some water for tea. No storage for food (the pantry was taken up by "owner's items - please respect"). The refrigerator was dormitory sized. The boxes of ant traps in the pantry did not give us a warm feeling - hire an exterminator. No A/C on the first floor - very uncomfortable. No exterior hose for washing up after the beach. Landscaping was overgrown and not well maintained. The family photos throughout the house made it feel like we were staying with strangers.

Owner's Response: Hi Davis, given your comments are so vastly different from everyone else, combined with your many many phone calls to complain about the town of Rockport in general, I think you may have chosen the wrong vacation spot. Next time you visit New England I’d recommend a modern hotel in the bustling city of Boston. Where there are big grocery stores and more restaurants (to alleviate those complaints from you) , and the hotels don’t have historic king pine flooring nor any family photos on the walls. To address one of your incorrect comments regarding smoke detectors – our house is equipped with a state of the art, integrated Fire and Break-in alarm system. It will automatically contact the Rockport fire station with an alert to heat or smoke. I’m sorry you were looking for the old style battery operated ones fastened onto ceilings. I wish you had asked us about this during one of your phone calls and we would have happily pointed you to the system. We advertise our house as an “antique colonial” and have included over 15 photos of the house and patio. The many other reviews describe our house as cozy, charming and amazing. In fact we tell you in the house details, that it was built in 1790 and is one of the original iconic houses on the village square. So I don’t believe anything we advertise is false. I’m sorry to hear you don’t appreciate historic character in a house or town.

Charming home!!! Lots of character! Very convenient to everything!!

  • 5 of 5

This house was amazing! The 1700s charm was so cool, the location was incredible, easy walk to all the shops, beaches and farmers Market. We enjoyed the backyard, great walks and cool breezes through the window. If you're looking for charm and location, this is the place!!!

Cozy historic home in the heart of Rockport, MA

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property in July of 2015 and rebooked for this summer. It's a wonderful historic house within walking distance to everything in town. There is room to spread out, enough baths, a small backyard, and a dedicated parking space (that fit our big Honda Odyssey). The house is very cozy. We've been going to Rockport every summer since my son was a baby and he's declared this his favorite, thanks to the books, nooks, and proximity to ice cream. There are no ocean views, but the sea is right down the street. My kids have especially enjoyed evening strolls. Very serviceable kitchen (we cook in a lot). Overall, a great space.

Stunning house, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week in Rockport in this charming Colonial! The location was perfect...walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach. Erin was very helpful in providing tips about the area, and giving us the details of the local activities. The house is certainly charming, and quite beautiful and interesting to look through, given its age. My children enjoyed exploring all of the rooms and staircases! We hope to be back to visit again.
