Sechelt House Rental Photos and Description

Welcome! Casa Serena is a little slice of heaven awaiting you on the Sunshine Coast. It’s a lush, relaxing space where you forget the city, enjoy the peacefulness of the Sechelt Inlet and feel refreshed.

Guests stay in the well-appointed Tree House Suite in our West coast inspired cedar home. It is a charming retreat boasting 700 square feet with its own entrance and a large, private deck surrounded by greenery and spectacular vistas of the sea and mountains.

Unwind in complete privacy, reading on the day bed as you while away the hours on the Coast or soaking up the view from your outdoor claw-foot bathtub. It will surely soothe your senses. A babbling pond with koi fish enhances the peaceful nature of your stay.

The scenery is an extraordinary composition of forested mountains, protected inlet and the open ocean. There are many beaches and parks available for you to explore, and enjoy the unique landscape. The rugged terrain is conducive to many outdoor pursuits: mountain biking, hiking, back road exploring, kayaking and fishing to name a few.

The Suite is delightful, intimate, and has all you need to appreciate your stay.

Come embrace this little oasis!

About Luce Melancon and Eric Gorham

Casa Serena was selected as a name to reflect our love of languages and the serenity the site evokes. In addition to English, we also speak French and Spanish. Eric hails from New York and is now a professor at Quest University Canada. Luce is originally from Quebec and directed the non-credit program at Quest University. She is also a language immersion specialist and artist running workshops from Casa Serena. Our extensive voyages have taught us the value of hospitality. Before settling on the Sunshine Coast in 2006, we lived in the Uptown area of New Orleans. Our careers were satisfying but the embrace of nature and tranquility was missing in our lives. After a sabbatical on Quadra Island in the Georgia Straight, we realized how majestic the region was and felt drawn to live here permanently. Now we want to share the natural wonders of the region with you.

This is a beautiful property that is perfect for a quiet getaway.

  • 4 of 5

This was my first time to visit Canada and I wasn't disappointed. The property was very nice and it was obvious that the owners take pride in it with the lovely details they provided. It is located in a quiet neighborhood a few minutes from town, and is a perfect place to recharge your batteries. It was nice to have the opportunity to be able stay in for meals if desired, and there was ample appliances and dishes. The bed was very comfortable, and there was a great soaking tub inside as well as outside on the deck. The white robes for the guests were a very nice touch.

Eric and Luce were very friendly and accommodating. They are knowledgeable about the area and recommended several great restaurants and options for things to do.

I would highly recommend Casa Serena for anyone that wants a perfect getaway.

A Place of Peace and Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

As I was looking through VRBO for a place to stay in Sechelt I was continuously drawn back to Luce and Eric's property - first for the view which was very significant to me and secondly - it just felt so right. I was truly rewarded in my choice. Luce and Eric are very gracious hosts, the Tree House is quiet, open, peaceful, complete, clean, green and absolutely wonderful. When it was sunny I was out and about, but when it rained I snuggled up on the day bed on the covered deck, enjoyed the fish pond, the birds, watched the rain, read my books and thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility - just what I needed. Thank-you so much for your understanding and compassion. I will return. Jane

A week of quiet beauty and elegant comfort!

  • 5 of 5

What a great pick! I enjoyed a week in the suite, as a solo traveler. Eric and Luce were excellent hosts, checking in on me to ensure that all was going well (including some hot sauce for my seafood😊), while letting the amazing solitude of the suite surround me. This was a great base for my week of exploration of the Sunshine Coast of BC!

The comfortable bed, excellent kitchen, cozy sitting options (inside and on the porch), and lovey view of Porpoise Bay...what a treat!

Traumatizing Experience

  • 1 of 5

Upon arrival the owners showed us around the musty-smelling apartment, all-the-while complaining about the previous renters and how they left messes in the kitchen or left wet things on wood surfaces. Then we were presented with a two-page list of rules that must be obeyed. These rules were extremely petty and arbitrary. We had prepaid for three nights, but on the second day, we were informed by the owners that we had run afoul of one of their rules that didn't even appear on the aforementioned list. In spite of our apologies and the fact that we had caused no harm or damage to the property, they insisted that we leave immediately without a refund for the last night of our stay.

Owner's Response: We have a beautiful cedar home nestled in a woody area north of Sechelt and we have been blessed with many wonderful guests over the years. Robin and Kelly reserved the suite in our home having read the rule on VRBO that the suite was suitable for non-smokers only. They arrived during the worst drought in recent Sunshine Coast history and we explained to them that fire conditions were at their most extreme. Neither of these conditions prevented Robin from smoking cigarettes surreptitiously on our wood porch and flicking his live ashes into our tinder-dry garden. We only discovered this accidentally early one morning when we smelled cigarette smoke from our upper porch and observed him doing so. He may also have been smoking indoors because we noticed an ashtray made out of aluminum foil next to the bed. For the safety of our home and our local community we asked them politely to leave the premises. We hope that they will not repeat this behaviour with other hosts they contact and use on VRBO. We also hope that prospective guests will read the highly complimentary reviews (that is, all the other reviews) on both this site and other travel websites and decide for themselves.

Relaxing and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Luce and Eric were friendly and helpful hosts. The suite is quiet, private and comfortably stocked. It's always nice when a kitchen has the right supplies to make a good meal. We enjoyed the view from our bedroom and the lovely daybed on the patio. Great kayaking up the inlet as well! A very nice stay, thank you so much!
