Home Away from Home
For vacations you'll remember . . . For wiggling your toes in the warm sand and letting your troubles go out with the ebb of the tide . . Nantucket island . . . Even the name sounds romantic. Whether or not you have been here before, once you visit Nantucket, you will come again. Call it charm, call it magic, Nantucket is a vacationer's paradise, thirty miles at sea. Leave your worries and cares behind you and relax, ready to enjoy the miles of beaches, rolling surf, wide open moorlands with unique birds and wildlife. All this, and a small town, brings the pages of American history to life before your eyes. Nantucket is a vacation dream come true. On Nantucket there are activities for every age and talent, from surf and deep-sea fishing to dangling a hook from the town pier; from clamming knee-deep in waters warmed by the gulf stream, to scalloping in October, waist-deep in waders; from tennis to golf, sailing to canoeing, antiquing to biking there is something for everyone.

Management needs to be more organized
The house was nice (although not particularly clean) but I am not happy with some of the check-out procedures, for instance:
"There will be a minimum charge of $120.00 if furniture must be moved back into place or the house is left dirty."
--Since the house hasn't even met my definition of clean to start with, what do they mean by "dirty"? I.e. Spider webs/dead bugs in several places; something dripped down the front of the coffee table by previous guests;
"Upon check-out please start the dishwasher with any dirty dishes."
"Organize the trash and recycling (per instructions on other side of page) and bring bags to the outside bins."
--I don't mind organizing the recycling, but, again, instead of it being the cleaning people's responsibility, the 'guest' is expected to take out the trash...what exactly are these people paid to do???
"Strip all beds of sheets and place the sheets and used towels on the floor of the room they came in."
--And what are the cleaning people for? I realize this is a house, but as I am the guest, should I really be having to strip beds?
Really needed more instructions for appliances and thermostat
One 2-sided sheet of paper, handed out with the keys, about what guests are required to do, but no instructions on how to do them
For instance under "Checkout Procedures:
"Set the heat to 50 degrees..."
--But I couldn't figure out how and no instructions anywhere.
--Washer/dryer are included but they are NOT full size, it is a stacked combo washer/dryer, and AGAIN NO instructions on how to operate! Took us 15 minutes of trying different settings before we learned that the water to the washer wasn't on!
Other than that Nantucket was fun, weather was great for early October, location of the house worked out to get us away from the crowds!
Madaket Beach Retreat
My husband and I had a great time staying at this Madaket house. The property is well-situated with a natural field of Nantucket pines and scrub as its background.
The house has a nice layout with private bedrooms and 2 bathrooms; the kitchen and the living room space were spacious as well as the nice outdoor deck.
The property was very clean and well-maintained . The host, Peter, was communicative and helpful. We are looking forward to staying at the house the future.
Great cottage in Madakat!
Three bedroom home; Master had a queen size bed (very squeaky) with bathroom. The bathroom was pretty small, and only a stand-up shower. The fan in Master Bathroom squeals at such a high pitch, it along with the light, had to stay off. The second room had two twin size beds and was great. The third room had two bunk beds and a window. This room got very hot at night (and it was only 50 degrees outside at night), that we had to make sure the one window was open, fan taken off the floor and plugged in, and door stayed opened so it wasn't so hot in there. Second bathroom was great size with laundry inside, and full size tub. Kitchen / Living area was spacious and had everything. The yard was just what we were looking for... space. Green everywhere, bunnies hoping around, and kids could just go outside and throw the baseball around when we were home. Pick up of the key, and drop of was wonderful, easy to find, and easy to find the house (even in the fog). Ants in the house; they were trying to take care of by some ant traps, probably to be expected of the area. Overall we loved staying here, and working with Peter! He was fabulous!
