About gail nagasako
Jordan was born and raised in Lahaina and comes from a well-known and highly respected family. His grandparents immigrated here from Japan. He went to University of Hawaii for 3 and a half years and has traveled extensively in the South Pacific. He and his wife also traveled England, Sweden and Europe and a half-dozen US states. He was owner of a highly successful fish wholesale business and knows just about everything there is to know about the ocean and the things that live there and the things you can do in and on it. He’s a happy-go-lucky guy who is game to do just about anything on a moment’s notice. Gail was born and raised in Michigan. After graduating from the University of Michigan, she fulfilled a childhood dream by moving to Hawaii. She is the founder of H.A.P.P.Y., a social and networking group for homeschoolers. As such, she planned social events, offered crafts and field trips., She still counsels families interested in homeschooling and is the author of "Homeschooling: Why and How" and "Real L.I.F.E. Parenting." She is a writer, speaker, and artist. Both Jordan and Gail are veteran Red Cross volunteers and should anything happen on Maui, you will be in good hands. We have been married for 37 years and have a son, Thumper (Yes, that’s his real name), a retired professional rollerblader, having been in the top ten worldwide his entire career. He competed in such renowned contests as X-Games and Gravity Games. He is the highest rated videographer/editor in Hawaii, having All-Five-Star reviews and participates in a multitude of sports.
gail nagasako purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why gail nagasako chose Wailuku
Before we bought the main house 15 years ago, I asked my family where they most wanted to live and we all said this subdivision. It's like country but not so wet as Haiku, which can be moldy, nor so hot and dusty and crowded as Kihei and Lahaina, and not so far and cold as Makawao and Kula. We love the feel of being private and quiet and yet so close to everything commercial, the parks, the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, the hospital, the YMCA, the malls, good restaurants and our favorite: Iao Valley where we go for short or long hikes and swims in the cool clean river pools. We didn't want to downsize so we built the cottage in 2013 so we'd have a bit of income so we could continue living in this heavenly spot.
What makes this Cottage unique
We pride ourselves in giving the personal touch. We offer our guests a chance to mix with locals at our BBQs, or to join us for a swim in our favorite spots. And if they want to remain totally on their own we respect that as well. Fresh air, beach ambiance, not touristy, views of sunrises and moon rises and whales playing (December through March) and surfers, stand up paddlers, and an endless source of driftwood for our fire pits.

Coming Home to Maui
Arriving at Gail and Jordan’s beach house was like coming home again! We lived in Maui many years ago. We are on Maui to look for our own home and staying here confirmed that living in this amazing community is the right decision for us.
Gail and Jordan opened their beach house to us with an amazing spirit of Aloha. We literally should have listened to Gail and just brought our clothes!
For future guests!!! Get your car and go straight to the beach house!! Do not stop at Costco or Foodland, etc... Look at the groceries in the cabinets, freezer and refrigerator before you head to the grocery store. There are several groceries just down the street! We bought butter, rice, bread etc...just to find it was already there. Stop in, make a list and then head to the store! We found Costco had the best price on fresh fish! We did see a vendor selling fish down the road but Geste Shrimp truck was recommended by my son for our last night. Great stop!
The water is terrific at the house and they provided huge insulated cups to use! Beer koozies, re-usable shopping bags, a cooler and ice packs, books, videos, binoculars, laundry soap, bath amenities in case you forget something! It is literally all there!
The beach is right across the street and was very busy with surfers the entire time due to a storm surge. We loved watching the surfers and we were shocked at the respectful nature of the community using the beach. The noise level never rose. Our entrance was never blocked by a vehicle. Dogs were kept on leashes or close to their owners :-)
We were sad to leave and would have stayed the full 2 weeks but I did not book soon enough so we moved to a Wailea condo. Nice condo but noisy and no beach views!
We drove to most areas in 30-40 minutes AND listen to the warming about Lahaina traffic between 3:30 and 5:30. We got stuck coming back!
Mahalo Gail and Jordan, we will be back!
Amazing cottage on the beach
What a great getaway! Super quiet, private home steps from the beach. Gail was a perfect owner! I highly recommend this property.
Loved our stay
So nice not to deal with crowds and experience local life. Wake up to a beautiful view and meet some of the most amazing people that embrace the aloha spirit.
Thank you so much
We sure did enjoy you, too, and would love to have you as neighbors! Have a wonderful rest of your summer. Aloha nui!

Excellant 40th Anniversary at the Maui Beach Cottage
One of our best vacations ever. Gail and Jordan have thought of everything possible to make your stay easy and pleasant. The location is perfect. Beautiful sunrises every morning from the deck. A short drive to whatever you are looking for on Maui. You will not find better accomidations or more thoughtful hosts anywhere.
Thanks, Gary & Suzanna, We thoroughly enjoyed hosting you and thanks for your patience and help on getting the internet working again! With the new modem and router, everything should be good for a few years!
Thanks for your anniversary wishes. I think we might go camp in Hana for our 40th.

Our wonderful stay in Maui
The beach house was wonderful - just right for the two of us. We enjoyed ourselves and liked the security of a keyed gate for entry and another keyed entry for the beach house. The owners live right above the beach house and are there if you need anything. They give advise about where to go and where NOT to go - local knowledge is SOOOO important. Thanks Gail and Jordan!
Enjoy peace, quiet and privacy when home, yet have an easy drive to all the wonders of Maui. What I love is being able to watch sunrises and then go to Kihei (20 minutes) or Lahaina (35 minutes) for a sunset picnic and come home again to our country-feel area. We almost always have Tradewinds coming right off the ocean so the air is some of the cleanest on the planet.
