The neighborhood where the house is located is called James Bay and it is the oldest residential neighborhood in Victoria, and is just south of downtown. Many of Victoria's key tourism attractions in this area - including Parliament Buildings, Royal BC Museum, Beacon Hill Park, Fisherman's Wharf, horse-drawn carriages and waterfront walkways. The neighborhood has many heritage homes, including the home of artist Emily Carr. There are many interesting heritage walks that can be done in the area.
Because of the location, it is very easy to get around on foot to most areas of the city. There is also access to many bus routes and bus stops within a couple blocks from the house.
The house was exactly as was shown on VRBO. We loved the fact that we were within a five minute walk of the grocery store, coffee shop, liquor store, bookstore and many other amenities. We were also able to walk to downtown Victoria within ten minutes. The house was super clean and the kitchen was very well stocked. There was even a little first aid shelf in the cupboard that I really appreciated when I woke up one night with a killer headache. Dustin was around lots and was able to help us with any questions we had and even recommended an excellent restaurant (Ferris' Oyster Bar and Grill) that we enjoyed so much, we went twice. We would highly recommend this property as a great place to stay when visiting Victoria.
We were welcomed to Casa Sol by our very gracious hosts and provided with a handy off-street parking spot. A quick tour of the property left us very favourably impressed. The accomodations are very comfortable and we felt right at home immediately. The bedrooms are nicely appointed and the beds were comfortable. The modern kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals.
Many of the harbour area attractions are within a half hour walk. We did not even use our vehicle during our stay. Closer to the house there are many intriguing shops, including cafes, coffee shops (indepedents and Starbucks) and a 24 hour supermarket. There is a also pub nearby.
Horse-drawn carriages tour the streets near the residence which definitely compliment the turn of the century houses of the James Bay area. If you enjoy early 1900s architecture, you will enjoy strolling the neighbourhood. The Emily Carr residence is just down the road from the house.
All in all, a great place to stay during a visit to Victoria.
Our 9 night stay was wonderful. The home is spacious and tastfully decorated. The paintings on the walls captured the esscence of the home - warm and welcoming. The kitchen is a cook's delight as it is well equiped. Everything was well maintained and all our questions were answered. It was just the 2 of us so I can't say how the futon in the living room would be for sleeping. It was great to have an assigned off street parking space - a necessity in James Bay. It is truely in walking distance to all the main attractions near the inner harbor in Victoria and Beacon Hill park. A variety of resturants are near by as well as a grocery store. Strolling around all the historical homes and their lovely gardens was great. I would certainly recommend this loctation to friends and we would definately stay there again.
Ah, the house with the green table - I really thought this place was what a vacation rental should be. Warm and welcoming hosts, everything we needed for a great week in Victoria. James Bay is a very nice neighborhood - super convenient. Check out Niagra Grocery and Heron Rock Bistro - both just a short walk. Excellent parking space..so convenient to a grocery store and all the major attractions... Couldn't have asked for a better location, they also had quite the educational book selection, loved it!
Tatjana and Dustin are terrific hosts. Their place is lovely and clean and has everything one could possibly need. The location is perfect. The ocean, the Harbour, Beacon Hill Park, little corner stores and a grocery store, as well as restaurants are all within walking distance. Can't wait to go back. I have booked this place again at the end of August for an even longer stay.
My husband and spent a wonderful 4 night here. The home was very clean, the kitchen is exceptionally well stocked. We ate in every night because the grocery store is so close and we really enjoyed the kitchen and the quiet, coziness of the house. Now let me tell you how conviently located this home is. Not to speak of the fact that it has its own off street parking which is huge in Victoria. Yes, we had a great time and throughly enjoyed this home. Thank you!!
