This fantastic San Francisco apartment is currently the owner's private residence but is being made available to rent for certain occasions and is located in a beautiful 1920s style building with Mediterranean influences. Top floor garden-facing unit has been extensively renovated, featuring remodeled kitchen, refinished hardwood floors, updated bathroom, new carpet, all new furniture, all new dining ware. The location is in the San Francisco village of West Portal which features an abundance of international restaurants (Peruvian, Chinese, Sushi, Indian, Mexican, American, Turkish, Italian and many more). Close to Cine Arts movie house and public library. The property is just steps away from the Metro line and is a half block from West Portal light rail station. Access to downtown SF, Financial District, the Mission, The Castro, South of Market and the Embarcadero Ferry Building is a short 15-20 minute trip. 94 Walk Score.

Beautiful and well-located, probably best for two

We recently stayed three nights in this apartment with our teenage daughter. It is a beautiful space, nicely renovated but with lots of character. The space was very clean and bright, and we appreciated the thoughtfulness of little extra conveniences, like having shampoo, conditioner, and a hair dryer available. The location is excellent, just a half block from a Metro station, upstairs from a row of shops and restaurants. We enjoyed eating at Mozzarella di Bufala, which was very friendly and delicious, and also had a pleasant brunch at Cafe Rain Tree. There were lots of other spots that looked good too, and anything you needed in terms of groceries or toiletries was easy to come by. Directions for entry and check-out were clear and helpful, and the binder provided information about laundry (very usefully located right next to the unit) and the television (although we were out and about too much to use it much).

Just a couple of suggestions. First, we did initially feel a little lost as we hadn't been to San Francisco before and it was a running visit. In some previous places I've visited, the welcome binder has included a little map or other orientation to the area, e.g. 'to get to this nearby attraction, just do this.' Obviously it's not a necessity at all, but it can be very handy! The other suggestion is regarding the sofa bed. The mattress is very thin and has a lot of springs. In fact, our daughter couldn't sleep on it in the end and spent three nights on the floor with some cushions and blankets instead. I would probably only stay there again on a trip with just my spouse, as it's a great space for two people. To make it work better for a larger party I'd suggest either replacing the sofa bed - although it's a very nice sofa, as such - or else with the bedding also provide a comfortable mattress topper that guests can unroll and put on top of the sofa bed mattress so they don't feel the springs so much.

Very welcoming and very nice

This is our first experience with VRBO. We were very happy even though my mom had to navigate steps. She did it well with no problems. Our daughter lives 3 blocks away on Wawona so I could not have asked for a better location. Water pressure in the shower at times was a challenge because the knob to turn on the shower would never divert all the way to the shower. Minor issue but it would had been nice to have more water pressure from the shower head.

We will be back frequently, and if all of us can not be accommodated at our daughter's home we will immediately see if you have availability. We may be back as early as the end of the month. Now that we know the place and the surroundings we plan on stocking up the refrigerator a little bit, etc .

I would rent this unit in a heart beat again. We need to learn more about it, ( we never went to the back or the washer/dryers) and this could easily be our home away from home in SF.

Lovely Accommodation in Great Location

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at this property and both times it has exceeded our expectations. The apartment is quiet, modern, and clean and provides all the household essentials for a comfortable stay. The location is a wonderful mixture of small-town atmosphere with heart of the city just a 3 minute walk to the train for a 15 minute commute to downtown.
