Centrally located on Comox Rd., considered the ‘Dyke’ road by locals… and connecting Courtenay to Comox, the Waterfront Guesthouse offers a spectacular 280 degree view of the Comox Valley Estuary and the Beaufort Mountains; featuring ‘Queneesh’ the native name given to the valley’s famous Comox Glacier.
… watch in awe as the tides change from a full water landscape… where seals frolic and families of ducklings travel and fish the shores, to a ‘land before time’ where sometimes hundreds of seagulls rest and sun on the mud flats. Eagles, herons and numerous other birds of curiosity make this area a daily stopover…as the Bird Sanctuary is located within walking distance, a few minutes west, toward Courtenay.
… and it’s a kayaker’s paradise…put in right at your doorstep. Explore the Comox Bay, make the trip to Tree Island…or just take a relaxing float up the river. When the tide is up you can travel up through Lewis Park, a local swim hole. Just go a little further and you might spot some eagles patrolling the river for salmon or just sitting in the trees there. On your way back, dock at the Air Park; have an ice cream or a bite to eat at the Park Café. Or you might want to stretch your legs and take in the magnificent views from the walkway; a 1.8 km walk around the Courtenay Airpark. Try an evening walk sometime….you’ll be amazed at the sunsets...
The Waterfront Guest House is the penthouse level of a two level property. Explore an array of color on the ground floor, where you'll find Brenda and her newly ronovated Stained Glass workshop and gallery 'Glass Expressions'. Check out the 'Waterfronts'views from the upper outdoor porch or inside from the sitting and dining areas where you'll find wall to wall windows.
Enjoy a Logfire, (wood supplied), read a book, or play some family board games in a comfortable, easy going atmosphere. The living room has a 36 inch TV, a DVD player with some popular movie selections as well as a cd player. The comfy beds are both queen-size and well appointed. The kitchen has all the pots and utensils available for West Coast cooking, as well as a barbecue on the deck for an outdoor experience. Little extras like spices and condiments and various cooking items are supplied for your convenience and enjoyment.

It was an amazing stay and would recommend staying there we will be back for sure!
Thanks so much for your kind words... we're so happy you enjoyed your stay with us!
5 weeks of tranquility
We had an opportunity to daily enjoy the estuary by having our kayaks with us. From door to water was a treat. The owners were very responsive to any of our needs. We hope to return.
Lovely views and good beds
The month we stayed at the waterfront was interesting given the inclement weather. We saw quite the storms from the windows facing the estuary. The apartment is pleasant and clean and there is a lovely closed in deck of a good size as well. The only negative was the constant traffic noise from the busy street the apartment is on. I would recommend this property for people if they are not after total quiet.
Life on the river....
We are a local couple who were fortunate enough to find and experience Jan's Waterfront Guest House while our house underwent renovations. Having spent most of September and October here we have seen the change of the seasons and the ever fascinating views of life on the estuary. Here you will see wildlife every day of your stay including seals and the many species of birds who inhabit your 'front yard'. We will miss the ocean and mountain views as well as the cozy feel and character of the apartment which is very comfortable and well equipped for short or longer term stays. More than just a vacation rental, this is a place for living while you explore the features and amenities of our beautiful Comox Valley. There is some road noise which you will get used to very quickly. We highly recommend this property as a wonderful option for folks and families of all ages.
Home away from home.
We just returned from our vacation and it was one that we won't soon forget. Our group was two adults, two kids and a dog. This place was extremely comfortable. We had everything we needed and more. The space was large and clean and the patio very inviting for an evening of nature watching and kicking back after a long day of exploring. While we didn't get the opportunity to meet Jan, she was great with communicating and making sure everything was well. The rooftop was great for star gazing and we always had a seal or two pop out of the water to say hi. Even though it's on a busy road, we got used to the traffic because the views made you forget that you were even in a town. Perfect and affordable. We will keep this on our 'return to' list. Thanks for an awesome trip! Great place to travel.
Thank you so much for your review. I really appreciate your kind words. Whenever you are coming back this way, we'd hope to have you stay with us once again .
Thank you again for your review.
With kind regards,
A great place to stay.
Close to lots of local beaches, mount Washington and other nature areas. We had spectacular views of the estuary and Comox glacier. Saw lots of wildlife eg Kingfishers, Bald eagles, Seals and heron. Lots of great photo opportunities everyday. The property was clean and well equipped and the owner, Jan met us when we arrived having flown out of Manchester, UK almost 24 hours earlier. It was also handy for highway 19 so we could explore further afield when we wanted. All in all we had an amazing time and hope to be back in a few years time.
