Charming old log cabin with bedroom; kitchen-dining area, bathroom added. Away from the noise and traffic of Bar Harbor, yet 30 minutes from Mount Desert Island and 30 minutes from Schoodic Point. View of the ocean, with an unforgettable view of island and mountains from the beach. Beach access; swimming and boating possible. It's small (220 sq. ft.) but has 2-burner stove, microwave oven, toaster oven, compact frig, shower. Ceramic heaters and AC. WiFi. Bedroom has 1 double, 1 single bed. All linen and bedding supplied. Sorry, no pets (due to wildlife) and no smoking. Artists, musicians, and painters especially have been happy here.
The cabin is very quiet and with a view of the sea. Very clean and comfortable. I enjoyed coffee each morning on the rocky beach with a lovely view of Cadillac Mountain. The owner made me feel very welcome and respected my privacy. Easy drive to Acadia's MDI and Schoodic. Plenty of restaurants in the area. I hope to go back next year.
My husband and I just returned from a week stay. We found the cabin to be very clean, and adorable! All the amenities one needs for a week long vacation on the coast. We were able to spend each day visiting Acadia NP (35 minute drive), and loved that we were only 25-30 minutes from the Schoodic Peninsula part of Acadia, simply beautiful, and much less crowded. We found the cottage to be the perfect little retreat after our adventures in the park. It was nice to have a hot shower and warm comfy bed each night. Beautiful location, a little off the beaten path, but lots of treasures nereby to be discovered (the tidal falls preserve is a wonderful picnic area, and the Frenchman Bay Conservatory maintains several short hiking trails close by). Not far from tasty dining options (highly recommend Ironbound, just a 10 minute drive), both in Hancock, and nereby Ellsworth. We would definatly recommend staying at Anne's log home, she is a kind and lovely host.
We had such an amazing stay here! It's a great cabin for an adventurous couple's romantic getaway. We loved having our coffee on the rocks by the breezy ocean in the morning. The sky was so incredibly clear at night and there were so few bugs (hooray!)--we saw sooo many shooting stars and the hazy Milky Way. This cabin was perfect for explorers, amateur wild blueberry pickers, and people who love to make the most of every moment of your stay--us! It served as a great base camp for us during all of our comings and goings to the national parks all up an down the coast. Complex cooking can be a little challenging here, but who wants to cook on vacation? There are plenty of places around the area (Tracey's Seafood!) where you can get your lobster fix. Anne was so accommodating and resourceful, a picture perfect host.
The log cabin was very cosy and we had everything we needed. We enjoyed the occasional sight of deer wandering by in front of the cabin. On the other side of the road, there are steps down to the beach and it was lovely to sit down there and look at the view. The owner, Anne, was very helpful and we really enjoyed our stay.
