Why Paige Kirkland chose Whittier

Buying the Simple Times Cabin was a fulfillment of a 'dream' that we have had for years. We had been looking for a place in the mountains for several years. One day we happened to be looking at some property on Dicks Creek Road. Once we saw the property that we originally came to view, we knew that it wasn't for us, but like always we went on up the road to see what else we could find. When we came to the gravel road, we both got interested in what we were seeing. A gravel road, a roaring creek, and a beautiful forest-what more could we ask for. When we pulled over the bridge that leads you onto Choice Place we immediately got out. My husband said that the smile on my face said it all. The sound of the rushing creek and the beautiful woods that surrounded were absolutely amazing.

What makes this cabin unique

Dicks Creek runs in front of our cabin.

Our property backs up to the Nantahala National Forest.

Simply Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from a beautiful weekend stay at Simple Times Cabin. This cabin was super clean, well equipt, cozy, charming and the setting is picturesque. The only thing we had to bring was our belongings and food. Towels, sheets, TP and a hair dryer was available for us to use. The kitchen had everything you could need, plus more. The owners were thoughtful enough to fill a crate full of maps, a phonebook and several brochures to nearby attractions. I, being unfamiliar with the area found this detail most helpful. We will be rent from Paige and Aimee again!

Very nice cabin! Well maintained.

  • 4 of 5

Only thing I would add would be is curtains or blinds on the windows. That's only because I'm a very private person and don't like open view windows that everyone could see into. But if your ok with that it's a perfect place!

Lovely

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is lovely, well appointed with all of the amenities. We enjoyed the babbling brook, fresh air and clean water. The cabin is easily accessible and near many tourist attractions and small towns. We especially enjoyed the Smoky Mt. train ride and riding the rapids on the Nantahala (level l). The only reason this is not rated a 5 is because of the near by cabin. If you prefer solitude, make this trip in the spring/summer when leaves are in full bloom.

Loved the quiet stay

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was clean and ready for us to stay. It was so secluded that we didn't have cell service which was one of the reasons I rated it a 4 out of 5. We also had trouble finding the house number they jumped around a lot on the road. The house was in perfect driving location for both Cherokee and Bryson. Well really enjoyed our stay. Would defiantly go back again.

Clean, Cozy and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I took our 6 month old for her first trip to the area and our first vacation as a family. I lived in Sylva for a few years and come back to visit a few times a year. This was the first time we needed more room than family had to offer. The cabin was very clean and the perfect size for our family. It was nice and quiet and the sound of the trickling creek was so relaxing. My husband would have loved to move in for good, especially if a recliner was added to the living room!

The cabin has limited parking/room to turn around, so I wouldn't recommend multiple vehicles. It's also about a mile up an unpaved road, so don't wash your car beforehand. If you're looking to disconnect, this is your place because the only place I could take a phone call was outside due to very limited cell service. My husband's only issue was the lack of ESPN and ESPN2 as it is college football season and we're big fans. These aren't bad things, just something to be aware of before you go!

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Simple Times and would definitely return!
