A charming 1939 stone cottage, with a delightful kitchen.

Burntshirt Vintner’s Cottage

This charming 1939 stone cottage, with it’s delightful kitchen and enchanting nooks and crannies, is a pleasure to behold. When we renovated the Vintner’s Cottage we were intent on maintaining the vintage charm and warm cozy feeling. The kitchen is decorated in an endearing retro/vintage style. We have decorated the home with antiques, comfortable living room furniture and vintage accent pieces. The fireplace shown in the pictures is decorative only. It has 2 bedrooms (double beds), 1 full bath (bathtub and shower), and living room. The house has front and back porches. The house is located on the grounds of the vineyard and apple orchard, and boasts beautiful gardens,& walking trails. You will truly enjoy relaxing on the covered front porch at sunset with a glass of your favorite wine; the view is nothing short of spectacular as the vineyard is spread out before you! The back porch features a view of our iconic red barn, the apple orchard and flower gardens. At the close of the vineyard in the evening this bountiful expanse of property is yours to explore – enjoy a peaceful evening stroll when all you hear are the chirping of birds, the aroma of the flowers and the cool mountain breezes.

About Burntshirt Vineyards Team

Our family has been a part of the history of Western North Carolina. Grandfather Oates built a waterwheel in the 30's and provided electricity to the surrounding neighbors in a remote area near Chimney Rock. This concern for community has been handed down from generation to generation with pride.

Burntshirt Vineyards Team purchased this Cottage in 2012

Why Burntshirt Vineyards Team chose Edneyville

We owned the land across the street and ventured into growing grapes for wine. The harvest was so excellent, we decided to make the wine ourselves rather than sell the grapes. So voila, we were in the wine making business and in need of a tasting room. We had the opportunity to purchase the apple orchard across the street from the vineyard. The property had nice craftsman style house which we turned into the tasting room and the lovely stone cottage. My wife, Sandra, couldn't wait to renovate and decorate the charming cottage; she kept the retro vintage feel she so dearly loved. She's quite talented as you can see from the pictures. She was intent on respecting the heritage of the family we purchased the property from and kept many items of significance to them and the history of the farm.

What makes this Cottage unique

There is so much to love about staying at Vintner's Cottage, the retro style kitchen is fully equipped and the home is filled with antiques creating a relaxed comfortable atmosphere in the home. It's like being at a lovely bed and breakfast but with privacy! During the day you can take the winery tour, everyone meets at the tasting room at 2, and enjoys an informative tour. If you wish to have a nice picnic lunch, you can place your order the day before and your lunch will be delivered to the tasting room from A Day In The Country's Café on the Veranda around noon. The chicken salad is amazing! And of course you can enjoy a relaxing wine tasting at the tasting room and we even have a little gift shop on the grounds. We invite people to freely stroll about the gardens and enjoy the beauty and discover all the special areas on their own. Hendersonville has lots of really nice restaurants, like Mezzaluna and West First Pizza. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and top notch dishes for dinner. And on Saturday's enjoy the afternoon listening to an entertaining local musician either on the patio or at The Summit event center during inclement weather. Oh and don't forget, on Fridays we serve delightful appetizers with the wine tasting!

Beautiful stay in the vintner's cottage

                                                                  Brie T.

Our family of four stayed for 3 nights in this cozy cottage between Christmas and New Year's. The cottage is rustic but will meet your basic needs. The thing that prevents me from giving it a 4-star rating is mainly the lack of wifi. I contacted the owners before we booked to see if there was wifi in the cottage and was told yes. However, even though there is log-in information in the cottage, the wifi is located in the tasting room (in another building) and doesn't reach the cottage. So we were planning on entertaining our kids with some Netflix but had no wifi access while we were there. Also, we ate all our breakfasts in the cottage, 1 lunch, and made 2 dinners. The kitchen doesn't contain an overabundance of what you need--we had trouble locating coffee cups, enough spoons for breakfast, etc. There are a ton of wine glasses in the cottage, so priorities, right? :) The fridge is also very small and the freezer is tiny. So I wouldn't recommend bringing a lot of foods that need to be chilled. Also, no dishwasher so I probably should have brought a few paper plates so save on all the dish washing I did. But if you go into your visit knowing these things, it'll be great. The cottage is in a great location and the staff at Burntshirt are fantastic. I hope they continue to try and keep up the nice touches that are in the cottage--there was a nice little Christmas tree in the cottage but half the lights were burnt out and there were lots of led light candles around but they had been left on so the batteries were all dead.

One last thing, as mentioned in several other reviews. the cottage is next to a surprisingly busy road (given it's just a 2-lane rural road). Luckily, our kids picked the bedroom next to the busy road but they did say it was pretty loud.

                                                                  Overall, we'd visit again.

                                                                  Amazing property.

                                                                  Stacy R.

Such a cute little cottage with plenty of room. The grounds are fantastic and was great just to be able to walk around the property at our leisure. We so enjoyed the fire pit and sat around it with our bottle of wine and had the most relaxing time. Can't wait to go back!

                                                                  Perfect Thanksgiving Getaway

                                                                  Linda S.

This was a girls getaway vacation and we loved it! The cottage is comfortable and cute as a button. Okay, the kitchen isn't stocked for cooking gourmet dinners. The couch is pretty uncomfortable for movie marathons, but other than that, it's fabulous! Others have mentioned the noisy road, and it is a bit noisy, but it didn't bother us that much. We would definitely go back.

                                                                  Cozy cottage

                                                                  Rick T.Fall Branch

                                                                  Property is beautiful.
