About Eric Wyatt
The Belle Baldwin House at Fern Cove is owned by Vashon Park District and maintained as a vacation rental to help preserve its historical significance.
Why Eric Wyatt chose Vashon
This property is a world (and 30 minutes) away from the Emerald City of Seattle. Relax on the beach. Read a book. Kayak. Bird. Babble with the brook. Fern Cove is a pocket gem on Vashon Island.
What makes this Bungalow unique
If you like cozy, this is the house for you. It has fine wood throughout and a modern gas fireplace and comfy chairs and overstuffed leather couch.

The Belle Baldwin house is a great property and a real treasure on Vashon Island - it is incredible that this was donated to the public. The house exudes an authentic charm while having all the modern conveniences.
The location of the property is great, at the basin of fern cove and short walk to the shingle mill trail. I don't know many places that are as easily accessible to the northern ferries and town while affording the opportunity to sit along the water and watch as bald eagles pass by.
The park service does a great job of managing this property. Not only is the house in good working order, the logistics around access, entry and clean up are a breeze.
While we only rented here for three nights, we will definitely be back every time we come back to the island - which is frequent.
Thank you for making such a wonderful property available for us all to share.
Thank you for a wonderful long weekend getaway. A very reasonable price for such a beautiful natural escape. Eric and Marshall ensured our stay was comfortable and we had everything we needed, even finding a highchair and pack-n-play for us to use while we stayed. Above and beyond -- in all regards! Thank you!
tranquility and reflection 2018-2019
This historical home has so much character. Peaceful surroundings on the entire property, including an amazing cove to explore. Spending the last week of 2018 and bringing in the New Year the first couple of days of 2019 in this home was just what "the Doctor" ordered. (Belle in spirit). Spending most of my time staring at the tide out the wood pane wavy glass windows while working on a 1500 piece puzzle was the best way to relax. Sunsets were spectacular and standing far out during the low tide with the seagulls singing in the evening as the sun goes down is such a treat. Deer roaming thru the yard in the mornings. The "old house" smell sets you back in time and you are drawn into the lifestyle of the early 1900's. The furniture, the old wood floors, the hats and the old books on the book shelves....... You never want to leave
We loved our stay at Fern Cove. Everything was well taken care of and plenty of dishes, linens, etc.
We enjoyed the house and estuary Fern Cove
The Park District has done a wonderful job keeping up the landscape and histroical home at Fern Cove.
Nice but not easy to get into
The house is situated in the middle of a state park and the view of the sound is great. It’s very quite. It’s an old home so the musty smell was expected but if you are sensitive to smells it might not be your happy place. It was well stocked but the quality of the towels was not great. They are like hand me downs. I like a nice plush white towel so you don’t have to wonder if it’s really clean. The fact that there is only one bathroom is a bummer. If you have more than 3 people, it could be a problem when everyone is trying to ready at once. The biggest drawback is related to the gate. You have to unlock an entry gate to get it and lock it behind you. Not a big deal except the chain is pretty heavy and rusty/dirty so expect to get a little dirty EVERYTIME you leave and come back. It’s VERY dark so leave lights on in the house when you leave in the evening or else you might not find it. You can not park close to the house so If you have a lot of stuff to carry into the house, they offer a wheelbarrow. The heater works great, all the appliances and plumbing are in order.
Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay at The Belle Baldwin House. It is only through feedback such as yours that we are able to maintain and improve upon the service that we provide to our valued guests.
We were disappointed to read of the noted shortcomings you found at the property during your stay with us. We will be replacing the linens and will remind housekeeping to notify us when items appear at the end of their usefulness. Our maintenance department is looking into adding more lighting along the path to the house. We will also instruct them to make sure the chain is clean at the gate. We are due for our cleaning of the duct-work so that will be addressed shortly.
We want to provide a pleasant and comfortable experience for all our renters and hope you will consider staying with us again.
Thank you for helping us improve our vacation rental for others.
