Peace and quiet are the hallmarks of this home.

Ancient farm of XVIII, forming a small hamlet that you are fully reserved. Recently restored, it offers an ideal location for 2 families or a family with older children. Open view on the valley of Laurence descending to Montignac (Lascaux). In the middle of 9 hectares of meadows and woods available to tenants, it enjoys tranquility. The heated pool (11 x 5 salt hydrolysis) is secure. Many terraces are output to all buildings; some are shaded by large trees. Many garden equipment (tables and chairs, armchairs, chairs, parasols, barbecue) are available.

Situated at the edge of the 'human Valley' and has been named the Vézère valley flowing nearby, Fontpoutreau offers a quiet place to tackle the famous sites of the Périgord. Lascaux is a few kilometers to the city of Montignac directly located on the Vézère. The famous town of Sarlat is a little beyond within 40 km and the many castles of the Dordogne valley are at your door. Between Vézère and Dordogne, you can also choose between different sites or prehistoric caves with paintings. The National Museum of Prehistory is available at Eyzies de Tayac you to trace these main steps of the past.

Many terraces are available, equipped with tables, chairs and garden chairs. they are either shaded (large trees) is largely sunny. One located at the pool level has sun loungers. The pool is treated by salt hydrolysis. The kitchen is equipped with a large format cooker with 5 burners (gas). Note for athletes of any level, a course 'acro-branches is in close proximity (1 km).

A lovely place for a family holiday

The property was beautiful and everything we could have wished for. The rooms were comfortable the bathrooms plentiful, it was well equipped and plenty of places to sit outside to eat or read. Mostly we loved the pool where we spent the best part of the week. We had a wonderful family holiday thank you so much. Sue Colquhoun

Beautiful house, excellent facilities, lovely view

We loved this beautiful farmhouse, the website photos look stunning and the reality is even better! The interior is beautifully designed and definitely has the “wow factor” as you walk in.

The house is perfect for large groups of family or friends. We were 12 adults and found plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, and yet with dining and sitting areas able to accommodate the whole party, inside or outside.

Everything is neat and clean on arrival, and the kitchen, bathrooms and other facilities all work well, especially the two new bathrooms and their attached bedrooms. Furnishings are comfortable, although the white coverings and linen might be challenging for those with young families! The house is well equipped with enough of everything to cater for 12 people, with the oven, fridge and dishwasher all up to the task.

Outside, there is a variety of sitting places for sunshine and shade, the pool is lovely; very clean and with a “refreshing” temperature during our stay. The location is quiet and peaceful, and the views over the valley are lovely at all times of day, but most especially when helped by a glass or two of wine in the evening!

Thenon is a nice village, with an excellent Carrefour – especially the butcher – and the nearby historic village of Ajat offers a wonderful Auberge for drinks or dinner. Further afield, Montignac’s Wednesday market is well worth a visit.

The owner, who lives away, and his local representative were very friendly and helpful, and overall we would happily recommend Fontpoutreau as a great holiday location.

Magnifique demeure !

La maison est splendide: un "cachet" ancien tout en étant très lumineuse. Sa taille est très adaptée à un grand groupe (nous étions 9), permettant grâce à son architecture et à ses nombreuses terrasses de ne pas être "les uns sur les autres". De plus elle est située dans un havre de paix, bref ce fut un séjour parfait !

Superbe maison avec une vue magnifique

Une maison très bien restaurée avec une pièce à vivre très agréable et offrant une belle vue sur les collines, dans un environnement très calme et reposant.

Prestations tout à fait conforme à la description, et une disposition qui permet même si l'on est nombreux que chacun ait son intimité. La petite maison de la piscine est parfaite pour les ados! La piscine chauffée est très agréable.

La localisation est très pratique : commerces proches et beaucoup de visites dans un rayon de 30 km, ainsi que des activités (l'accrobranche à 10mn de la maison, canoe à Montignac...).

Nous avons passé d'excellentes vacances dans cette belle maison!

.Excellent house, pool and garden

.The house was perfect, spacious, well-furnished and interior-designed, contemporary bathrooms, large comfortable beds and the living room/kitchen was very great for our large extended family. There were lots of comfortable seating, indoors and out and places to eat, with big and small tables and a good movable BBQ. The salt water pool was most inviting, safe with easy access steps and quality loungers; our 5year old grandson learned to swim the 11m length. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, with a huge fridge-freezer and cooker and lots of equipment including 3 sizes of cafetieres!

The property was easy to find and located within minutes of a choice of boulangeries and a more than adequate Carrefour Compact so no need to drive miles to a hypermarket. We were greeted by a friendly Mme who explained all we needed to know; the house was spotless and the grounds and pool area well maintained. We all loved being in the house, pool and garden, and we know the area, such that we didn't feel the need to explore much except to canoe down the river from Montignac and to visit nearby caves. Nor did we eat in local restaurants as the facilities and view provided were enough to satisfy us all, with the cooking being shared.

Having rented several large houses with pools in SW France in recent years we found this easily the best. The photos on the website suggested it was special but the reality far surpassed the modest description and picture. This property has the ultimate WOW factor and the owners deserve credit for their taste and the quality of their property.
