The home offers four decks, an outside fire place, two spacious living areas, one with a wood burning fire place, and a large entertaining kitchen with all of the modern amenities. A large dining area with a table which seats six and a screened in porch for outdoor dining. Three bedrooms with double beds and one single pull out coach is located in the lower level. Both lower and upper level have complete bathrooms. Washer and dryer are included in the home. A family pass to the popular Hubbards Beach is also included. Tall Pines is well suited for those looking for tranquility as well as those looking for adventure on the ocean.
I now live in Ottawa with my family; however, my fondest memories are of growing up in Hubbards. Summers were spent on the beach and evenings around the out door fireplace enjoying hot chocolate and roasting marsh mellows and hot dogs on a stick.
This property was built by my parents in 1965 when they fell in love with Hubbards as new immigrants to Canada from Germany. Since that time, many trees and gardens have been planted. The home was suitably called Tall Pines when 80-90 foot majestic trees graced the front lawn. The trees where cut down in 1995 as they were aging and several parts of the trees have been used in the house as siding so they continue to live on. Since then, new trees have been planted and provide plenty of privacy and shelter. The home is family friendly and is minutes away from the ocean, yacht club which offers weekly sailing lessons, Saturday Farmer's Market, Saturday night dances at the Shore Club, grocery and liquor store, doctor, dentist and pharmacy, hiking and bicycle trails. Peggy's Cove and the picturesque town of Chester are 30 minutes away. Golf is a mere 20 minutes and welcomes visitors. Halifax and all its fabulous dining, entertainment, Casino and museums is 40 minutes away.
The home features 3 bedrooms with double beds, two large living areas on separate floors. The upper level has a wood burning fireplace. The dining room has a large table which seats six. The kitchen is an entertaining kitchen with a breakfast nook as well as bar stools and all the modern amenities including dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave, toaster, and coffee machine. The home features a screened in porch for evening dinners and drinks. The house has four decks surrounding the home so you can follow the sun all day long. In the evening, there is a stone patio with a fireplace. The lower living room has a television, Wii, board games and a single pull-out sleeper. Washer and dryer is located on the lower level. The home has two washrooms. The upper level has a bathtub and shower and the lower level washroom has a shower. Given Nova Scotia evenings cool down nicely, the home does not have air conditioning. Explore the coastal wonders on both Queensland and Hubbards beaches. Children can spend the day exploring the hidden treasures in the seaweed along the coast where star fish and fascinating shells can be found.
We booked at short notice for 9 nights, were accommodated and welcomed by Nina and everyone we came into contact with at Tall Pines. We ended up staying on for 4 more nights and could not have wished for an easier option for our needs. Hubbards has a lovely, quiet beach, we ate at the Trellis cafe which was very nice with friendly staff, the farmers market is great! We liked the fisheries museum at Lunenberg, whale watching at Tiverton, Digby, a walk along Martinique Beach in the sun, the bay at Shelburne, organic bread and fresh vegetables from Hubbards Farmers Market. Tall Pines has everything most people need and it has been lovely relaxing inside and outside at the house. Bags of space, friendly people, good value, not sure what else could be expected. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed our time in Tall Pines. We were there for a family wedding and the location was perfect, close to everything we needed! The house is very spacious with lots of outdoor space as well. While it was a hectic week being the parents of the groom, we could always count on coming "home" to peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. We really appreciated the little extras too (e.g, wine left for us). Thank you for a wonderful week.
I have rented through vrbo for many years and this home in Hubbards is at the top of my list now. It felt like home the minute we walked through the door. We loved our ten-day stay here. It was very comfortable, very clean, plenty of space, and everything we needed was already there. This home is the only rental home I have stayed in where I didn't have to immediately go out and get needed supplies such as shampoo, laundry soap, paper products, etc. Everything was there, in ample supply. Also, a very well-stocked kitchen, just as you would have in your own home. Very comfortable beds and we slept well every night. The property is gorgeous and it is very quiet which also promoted great sleep. We loved being in a quiet area when we were home relaxing and yet so close to many other things when we ventured out to explore. We enjoyed coffee on the deck, sitting on the screened-in porch, and the fresh air. The people here are so kind and welcoming that we felt like we were a local. The owners are excellent to deal with, they went out of their way to make my last-minute reservation go smoothly (which it did).
WONDERFUL place and highly recommended! If our travels bring us back to this area, this home will absolutely be our first choice.
While my daughter was home visiting from Georgia, U.S.A. with hubby and 5 yr. old we spent one week at "Tall Pines" and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The house was very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed and then some! The beds were comfy with lots of bedding available. We enjoyed many evenings around the firepit and made good use of the screened porch as well as the deck. Hubbard's was a fun place to be with lots to do including the market on Sat. and dinners at "The Shore Club", all within walking distance. I wouldn't hesitate to suggest this is an excellent rental and I do hope another year our plans may include time at "Tall Pines".
My family and I(total of 6) very much enjoyed our stay. We found the location to be excellent as we saw everything from Lunenburg to Halifax and all the little towns in between. The owner was fabulous to deal with before our vacation and her family, who live at the back of the property, were very friendly during our visit. The house was very clean, and the screened in porch was a favorite of ours as we relaxed in the evenings. Thank you very much to Nina and family for allowing us to use your home.
It's been over 3 months since our golf foursome stayed at Tall Pines for a week in mid September but the memory of our time in Hubbards is still fresh. From our very first contact with the owner to our departure at the end of our stay, this was a most pleasant and completely satisfying experience. We have visited Nova Scotia on many occassions but we usually stay closer to the Fundy shore in and around the Annapolis Valley. This year we decided to stay on the Atlantic side and play the some of the fabulous golf courses southwest of Halifax. We were not disappointed. And the location of Tall Pines in the village of Hubbards was perfectly located close to the centre of everywhere we wanted to be. The house is spacious and welcoming. The amenities left nothing to be desired. We looked forward each day to returning to Hubbards, to relaxing on the front deck or just finding our own space to catch up on world news, anwser mail and do a little business. We had a wonderful dinner at the world famous Shore Club, spent hours touring Lunenburg and Mahone Bay and even ventured in to Halifax for some fun. Since Hubbards is basically adjacent to Hwy 101, everywhere we wanted to go was less than an hour away. Tall Pines delivered on our expectations and was an exceptional value. When we return to Nova Scotia's Atlantic coast, Tall Pines will be the only name on our rental list. Thanks very much to Nina and family.
