Kona Coast Condo Rental Photos and Description

This is a perfect 'home base' from which to explore the Island of Hawaii.

We've updated this one-bedroom, two-bath condominium with new carpet and furniture throughout, including a beautifully-restored wicker bedroom set with a new king-sized mattress of advanced foam technology, guaranteed to keep you comfortable and cool all night long. We have added a new washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave, all new smaller appliances, and the kitchen is outfitted with the utensils, dishes, flatware and glassware needed to prepare home-cooked meals. All you need to add are the makings. Dine at the kitchen/living room bar, or do like most do and eat at the 6-place table on the large lanai. Your unit also includes widescreen, flat panel HD television, cable, DVD player, wifi internet service and free phone service to all states and Canada.

After using the new washer and dryer, an ironing board and iron have been provided. There also is a hair dryer. The condo has its own parking space below in the basement garage. Kona Pacific has provided full-sized supermarket type grocery carts to be shared by guests and residents. They are located in the parking garage adjacent to each elevator door. This convenient service comes in handy for carrying luggage, groceries and beach paraphernalia.

We are especially proud of the large lanai. It spans the entire width of the condominium with access from the living room and the bedroom. This is the first choice for dining, or just kicking back and relaxing. The view is of natural tropical trees and plants and the myriad species of birds. A watchful eye might even spot a mongoose scurrying along the lava rock wall below.

About JIM OR BARBARA HOLLON

We are the Hollons -- Barb and Jim -- and our home is in Arizona. Although both of us are of retirement age, we're not ready to kick back and 'take it easy'. Both of us spend many hours a week pursuing artistic interests -- Jim is an artist, working mostly with oil paints. Barbara creates both fine and costume jewelry, most of it made of silver and semi-precious stones. Jim has been painting for years and focuses mainly on painting animals, landscapes and desert flora.

We have developed a keen interest in the islands. Since our first visit to The Big Island, we've thought about how we could be a part of it. It is an amazing place, a microcosm of ethnic diversity and all that goes with that, a splendid range of fruit, vegetable, dairy, meat production, and of fishing and seafood products. There are the fascinating variations in the climates of places just miles apart -- sometimes a snowcapped mountain -- a not-so-distant backdrop to people bathing and relaxing in the balmy sun by the pool or on the beach.

The idea of buying a condo struck us during our first stay at Kona Pacific. During that visit and one later, we searched the island for the perfect place. Kona Pacific was the standard by which we judged all prospects. Of the many we considered, none measured up to Kona Pacific.

What makes this condo unique

First, there is the location. Kona Pacific is close to Kailua Bay and Ali'i Drive with its inviting shops, restaurants, beaches and historical structures -- all within easy walking distance. Then there was the striking appeal of Kona Pacific Condominiums -- the beautifully maintained buildings and the tropical beauty of the pampered landscaped surrounding them. The unit we chose, has the conveniences of a home. We have taken steps to insure that our unit is up to the standards of Kona Pacific and is a great a place to relax. There is a breakfast bar inside, a six-place dining table on the lanai. (Frankly, we, as do most guests, prefer to have all of our meals on the lanai.) The condo also has five ceiling fans, including two on the lanai. The two air conditioning units are seldom used.

Like a home away from home.

My wife and I had a wonderful two week vacation on the big island thanks in large part to accommodations provided by Barbara and Jim’s condo. The property was clean upon our arrival and quite spacious for two people. The condo was centrally located in Kona and with our rental car, we were able to easily explore the western coast of Hawaii. I would readily recommend this condo to friends.

Great Location!

We picked this place because the location was walking distance to all the shops and restaurants on the main strip. We couldn't have been happier with the location. The place is larger in person than it looks in the pictures. Great for the 2 of us. Place is very organized and clean.

Very clean and spacious.

Overall, our entire stay at the condo was pleasant, away from the traffic and we experienced a sense of peace and enjoyed dinner on the balcony. I enjoyed practicing yoga on the balcony in the early mornings. We enjoyed the use of the walk-in shower. The furniture in the living room and lanai was comfortable. The bed was comfortable and we felt rested the following morning. The location is minutes away from the town’s eateries and shops. We’ve rented through VRBO on different occasions and by far this condo tops all of the places we’ve been to. Another highlight, at previous places we’ve stayed the photos were absolutely misleading; however the photos of this condo are a true representation. We highly recommend without hesitation.

Nice condo in a great location!

ENGLISH: This apartment was a great choice! It is very clean and nicely decorated, with all the commodities, even stuff for the beach, which is great because you can travel lighter. Kitchen is completely equipped, it has two bathrooms, a washer, a dried and a dishwasher, and the bed is very comfortable! Location is also great as you can walk to bars, restaurants, shops, etc. It was nice to have some mai tais just 5 minutes away from the apartment and not having to drive. It is not walking distance from the beach, but a few miles away you can find great beaches and it is also next to the airport. I would totally recommend this place.

ESPAÑOL: Este apartamento fue una gran elección. Está muy limpio y bien decorado, y cuenta con todo lo necesario, incluso las cosas para la playa, lo cual viene genial para no tener que cargar con tanto equipaje. La cocina está totalmente equipada, tiene dos baños, lavadora, secadora y lavavajillas, ¡y la cama es muy cómoda! Otra ventaja es la ubicación, al lado de bares, restaurantes, tiendas, etc. Está muy bien porque puedes tomarte unos mai vais y volver a casa andando en cinco minutos, sin preocuparte por el coche. No está cerca de la playa, pero a unos kilómetros hay playas chulas y el aeropuerto está al lado. Recomiendo este apartamento al 100%.

I would stay here again!

This was not an ocean front like we had wanted but to be honest this was much better! It was unbelievably the most quiet condo we have ever stayed in. Really gave me confidence in condos again because this was going to be the last one I ever stay in if it was loud and disruptive. I didnt hear anyone above, below or on the sides of us. I loved the location and all that was provided in the home. I will tell future renters there isnt much in the sense of essentials in this home regarding the kitchen/cooking. You will have to provide all. I have stayed in many VRBO homes and they all have had left over stuff there that we able to use minus actual food. Either folks do not bring/buy anything or the owner/cleaner throws everything away. Another buggah was the parking, wowzers it was tight. We got used to it after a few times. But what was great was we could walk to all the great restaurants and stores on Ali'i Drive. If you stay here I recommend if you are wanting to do a luau, just get your tickets from the Royal Kona Resort. So far I like theirs the best overall and Im a Hula Dancer! And the coolest thing ever is you can walk there!!!! Beyond any negative feedback I left, the home was cute, stylish, comfortable, clean and had a very comfortable bed and lovely shower. When we come back to Kona we will for sure rent here again!!! Mahalo Nui Loa for sharing your home with us!!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your great comments, we really appreciate hearing from our guests. We require the cleaning staff to throw out any open food items. The parking space is tight, as are many of the spaces in the parking garage. Kona Pacific recommends renting compact to midsize cars, which we state in the instructions we send to our guests. I am sorry about those inconveniences, but glad to hear you worked around them. Thanks for the luau tips, I'm sure future guests will appreciate your comments. clean, quiet, great location

The condo was a great home base for everything. It was an easy walk to bars, restaurants, and activities. Had everything we needed. The bed was especially comfortable. We really enjoyed the pool area as well on days where the surf was too high and the beaches were closed. Really great little condo for a great prices. Only drawback is the highway behind the condo is quite busy and the traffic noise does carry to the lanai.
