About the property

This is a perfect 'home base' from which to explore the Island of Hawaii.

We've updated this one-bedroom, two-bath condominium with new carpet and furniture throughout, including a beautifully-restored wicker bedroom set with a new king-sized mattress of advanced foam technology, guaranteed to keep you comfortable and cool all night long. We have added a new washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave, all new smaller appliances, and the kitchen is outfitted with the utensils, dishes, flatware and glassware needed to prepare home-cooked meals. All you need to add are the makings. Dine at the kitchen/living room bar, or do like most do and eat at the 6-place table on the large lanai. Your unit also includes widescreen, flat panel HD television, cable, DVD player, wifi internet service and free phone service to all states and Canada.

After using the new washer and dryer, an ironing board and iron have been provided. There also is a hair dryer. The condo has its own parking space below in the basement garage. Kona Pacific has provided full-sized supermarket type grocery carts to be shared by guests and residents. They are located in the parking garage adjacent to each elevator door. This convenient service comes in handy for carrying luggage, groceries and beach paraphernalia.

We are especially proud of the large lanai. It spans the entire width of the condominium with access from the living room and the bedroom. This is the first choice for dining, or just kicking back and relaxing. The view is of natural tropical trees and plants and the myriad species of birds. A watchful eye might even spot a mongoose scurrying along the lava rock wall below.

About JIM OR BARBARA HOLLON

We are the Hollons -- Barb and Jim -- and our home is in Arizona. Although both of us are of retirement age, we're not ready to kick back and 'take it easy'. Both of us spend many hours a week pursuing artistic interests -- Jim is an artist, working mostly with oil paints. Barbara creates both fine and costume jewelry, most of it made of silver and semi-precious stones. Jim has been painting for years and focuses mainly on painting animals, landscapes and desert flora.

We have developed a keen interest in the islands. Since our first visit to The Big Island, we've thought about how we could be a part of it. It is an amazing place, a microcosm of ethnic diversity and all that goes with that, a splendid range of fruit, vegetable, dairy, meat production, and of fishing and seafood products. There are the fascinating variations in the climates of places just miles apart -- sometimes a snowcapped mountain -- a not-so-distant backdrop to people bathing and relaxing in the balmy sun by the pool or on the beach.

The idea of buying a condo struck us during our first stay at Kona Pacific. During that visit and one later, we searched the island for the perfect place. Kona Pacific was the standard by which we judged all prospects. Of the many we considered, none measured up to Kona Pacific.

What makes this condo unique

First, there is the location. Kona Pacific is close to Kailua Bay and Ali'i Drive with its inviting shops, restaurants, beaches and historical structures -- all within easy walking distance. Then there was the striking appeal of Kona Pacific Condominiums -- the beautifully maintained buildings and the tropical beauty of the pampered landscaped surrounding them. The unit we chose, has the conveniences of a home. We have taken steps to insure that our unit is up to the standards of Kona Pacific and is a great a place to relax. There is a breakfast bar inside, a six-place dining table on the lanai. (Frankly, we, as do most guests, prefer to have all of our meals on the lanai.) The condo also has five ceiling fans, including two on the lanai. The two air conditioning units are seldom used.

Extremely clean and updated condo!

We have previously stayed at the Kona Pacific two times before but never this condo. We knew how close it was to the waterfront and market and the great pool. The condo itself was very clean and well equipped with everything for day to day living. We cooked often in the condo as well as used the bbq by the pool. Previous people had also left a few things behind like extra suntan lotion, shampoo etc, as we did when we left, so it always seemed fully stocked. The only downside to this condo is that the sofa is not a pull out so it only has the king size bed. I highly recommend this condo. Lani, the Condo Rep was always available and helped us with all of our needs which we really appreciated. We would definitely rent this condo again. Thank you for everything!

Excellent stay

Wonderful experience! This condo was just as was depicted in the pictures. Very clean with all we needed during our stay. Furniture was comfortable and the bed VERY comfortable. Kitchen had all we needed for meal preparation. Barbara was excellent to communicate with, from booking this condo to checking out.The phone wasn't working when we first arrived. A text to Barbara letting her know this, and she had it fixed right away. Helpful information was left regarding the condo, the complex as well as the island. The lanai is very comfortable with shade and privacy. There is some traffic noise heard from the lanai, but it's easy to adapt to considering how enjoyable the lanai is. The occasional day, you can hear some noise from a private university across the street. If you're out exploring the island for the day, it's no problem. The fans in this condo are quite effective, and kept us comfortable both day and night. (Air conditioners are also an option in this condo)Kona Pacific is a well maintained complex with very nice grounds. We found the manager to be both approachable and helpful during our stay. The owners are very easy to work with. We received our deposit back right away. Regarding parking, listen to the advice of the owners re renting a compact/smaller vehicle. We did, and had no problems parking. Overall, our time here in this condo was excellent!

Great location!!

My husband and I stayed for a week in the condo and it was wonderful. Condo floor plan is great and is bigger than the photos make it look. Location is the best you can walk downtown and eat at all the water front restaurants. Barbara was great to work with always responded right away. Parking space seems like a tight fit but if u know how to park a car you will be just fine we parked a mustang in it with no problem.

Great Place to stay

Loved staying in this condo, it had everything we needed to make our stay in Kona complete. Owners are wonderful to work with. Would definitely stay there again if we return to Kona. Restaurants are close, across the street or a short walk to your right. Enjoyed the pool after a long day of touring.

Clean and comfortable condo

The Condo was great for our recent vacation to the Big Island. The pictures that are posted on VRBO our accurate on what the condo looks like. The place was very clean, had a nice homey feeling to it and the kitchen was well equipped. This may sound silly, but it was nice that the kitchen had a crock pot making it easy to prepare some meals. The owner Barbara was very nice, accommodating and provided excellent customer service. I would recommend this condo to anyone that was looking for a place in Kona to stay. It was nice that the Condo was close to Ali'i drive. Which is on the waterfront and has lots of shops and restaurants on it. The Condo stay was a great experience overall.
