About Joyce Klees
I fell in love with the north shore when I moved here in my twenties. The landscape, definitely harsh at times, with it's seasonal drama and beauty continues to grip me and hold me in awe. I love to travel, but I continue to call this place home. Presently my work is as an RN at the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic in Grand Marais. Hopefully you will not need to visit here, but if you do you will realize why we feel so lucky to have this Community Health Clinic as our health care facility. I am also known for my landscape work and ceramic art. A work of note is the Angry Trout Bathroom. Enjoy a yummy meal and then take a side trip to the bathroom to check out my work. I also have an adventurous side and have put in many miles on the trails and waterways of this area as well as elsewhere.
Joyce Klees purchased this House in 2012
Why Joyce Klees chose Grand Marais
A beautiful house with a stunning interior: richly painted walls and lot's of art , property that is centrally located and accessible. This is a winner! I instantly felt at home here and I hope you will too.

Short but sweet stay
We were only able to get away for a few days, but really loved this cabin in the woods. It's actually larger than it looks in the pictures, but is very cozy and well built. Unfortunately for us, the weather while we were here wasn't great, which impacted our ability to do any significant hiking or outdoor stuff. But we did visit the local brewery, and winery, which were both awesome. But it was always nice to just relax at the cabin. So quiet and comfortable. We hung out and read, and just recharged our batteries. Awesome place!
Thanks Jeff, for the nice review. I am glad that you found my place to be a cozy space to relax and recharge your batteries. You did have some stormy weather, but you certainly made the best of it by exploring the area and by taking time to relax and read. Sounds like a lovely trip! Next trip, I hope you can get away for a longer time so you have more time to explore and relax.
Everything about this home was perfect! The kitchen has everything you could need, beds and furniture is very comfortable. The house is very clean and beautifully decorated. The property makes you feel secluded yet a short drive from Lutsen or Grand Marais. My kids feel in love with the home the second we walked in and my son begged to stay longer. We will be back!!
Kate, I love that your son begged to stay longer : )
I am always happy to hear that my place worked, that you had everything that you needed during your stay, and that you want to return. Hurry back!
Clean, beautifully decorated, quiet.
Loved the fully stocked kitchen. We were able to entertain our friends for dinner. The high ceilings, artwork, and light streaming in made it so pleasant and welcoming.
Thanks Ellen for the review.

The house was more beautiful than expected. Extremely cozy and has everything you need. Very welcoming with adorable accents. We saw a 8pt buck in the yard the first day. Everyone slept and fit comfortably. I would definitely recommend. My only issue was not having a curtain in the bathroom.
Thanks Joshua, I appreciate your review, " a hidden gem" : ) and feedback. I will work on getting a curtain for that upstairs bathroom. I am glad that my place worked well for your time on the North Shore. It is great that you that you saw an eight point buck, lucky you!
