Newly remodeled and completely updated, yet retaining all the Colonial charm of high wood beamed ceilings and pasta tiled floors, Casa Aguacate is Merida's newest and best rental option.
When location is important (and when isn't location important?!) this is the perfect house for your Merida vacation or long term stay. Only steps from Parque Santa Ana and a block from the famous Paseo de Montejo, close to restaurants, galleries and all the culture of this great city. Rent by the night, by the week or by the month.
Perfect for one or two couples, as both bedrooms are masters, with wonderful light and roomy bathrooms, rent Casa Aguacate and enjoy your visit to our Colonial city from the comfort of this wonderful home.
For all you chefs, there is no finer home kitchen in Merida than this one. Double sink plus prep sink, extra large side-by-side refrigerator, granite counter tops, great stove and oven, lots of counter space, open to dining, living and outdoor areas.
You'll find the home is very roomy with a large entry hall, an open concept living and dining room area (fully air conditioned) and also a large studio with a sofa bed for extra guests. All the rooms have 25 foot ceilings with fans plus air conditioning.
The outdoor spaces are well designed to maximize their comfort and usefulness. Enjoy the view and breeze from under the covered terrace directly off the main living areas, lay back in a comfy hammock or try out the sparkling pool for a refreshing swim any time of day or night. The garden, terrace and pool areas are all perfectly private.

This house is spectacular and the photos are accurate. Helene and Thomas were perfect hosts. The bedrooms are separate and very private. The pool and outside living area are perfect for relaxing and a cool retreat during the hot days. The air conditioning works great as do the ceiling fans which are located in every room and outdoors. There is a slight downside in that the house is on a busy street with buses but off-setting that is its proximity to Santa Ana with some of the best food vendors in the city, open all hours, early to late. Buses are also a great way to get around in Merida. We would gladly stay in this house again.
We could not recommend Casa Aguacate enough. This is a spacious, beautifully remodeled colonial house in one of the original founded neighborhoods in Merida. This gorgeous house is centrally located, close to downtown, to Paseo de Montejo, and next to the Santa Ana plaza and church.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay at this house which had all the amenities we needed. The owners, Thomas and Helen, were very gracious and tended to our needs.
Thomas liked to water the plants and clean the courtyard and pool to ensure that we could fully enjoy being outdoors where we spent a lot of time. Oh... and the pool was simply divine particularly with the Merida heat which was in the 90's. It was great to be able to jump in the pool to cool off, anytime, and have complete privacy. There was also a hammock above the pool which was perfect to take a nap or while reading a book. It was very hard to leave Casa Aguacate and we look forward to returning.
It is hard to think of anything that could have made our stay more perfect. The house is in a great location for walking around Merida; our only problem was finding the will to leave the house and garden and pool, as we loved being there so much. Our hosts could not have been more personable and attentive to our needs before and during our stay - we got locked out of our hire car and they arrived within minutes to help us try to solve the problem. We can't recommend this place highly enough. Enjoy!
We had an awesome time staying at Helene and Thomas' beautiful Colonial Villa. It is in an ideal location, walking distance to everywhere and very quiet inside and out by the pool.
The place has been totally refurbished with high end finishes and great facilities for entertaining, cooking, or just relaxing, the pool is small but the perfect size for cooling off in the heat.
Helene and Thomas were super helpful with recommendations for nearly everything, and even came round to help us when we locked our keys in our car.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Merida and it really is a great price for what you are getting.
Casa Aguacate is the perfect crash pad for those people that want to stay in the historic center of Merida but still be in walking distance to paseo de montejo and have easy access outside of the city as well. The property is incredibly well renovated and has absolutely everything you need. In addition, the courtyard and pool are spectacular and extremely private. We honestly couldn't say a bad thing about this property or its owners…they took great care of us while we were in Merida, the property is just as you see it in the photos and we thought it was a great value for the price. You have plenty of space for 4 people and walking to dinner and the sites couldn't be easier.
