This home sleeps 6-8. Full kitchen, very comfortable queen and king-sized beds. 2 baths. Washer/dryer. 3 flat screen televisions, Blu-Ray DVD, and internet. Large screened in gazebo with couch and dining table to seat 8 is 14X24' with ceiling mounted heating for a cooler night and two fans for warmer days. Internet is accessible in the gazebo. Have a winter bonfire in our fire pit. Peaceful and lovely!

Geothermal centralized heating and air conditioning and solar hot water heating.

We are an active Black Angus beef cattle farm so enjoy the scenic mornings of the fog lifting and black cattle dotting the green pastures--serene. The home is located on a mountain nestled in a valley. The view of the local mountain range on a clear day can be up to 50 miles even being able to see a Pennsylvania ski resort all lit up in the winter months.

Our stone patio has rocking chairs facing our peaceful mountain so sit with your morning cup of coffee and watch the wildlife and cattle--the best of all worlds! A large playground with sandbox, swings, slides and playhouse with rubber flooring.

It is a lovely well appointed house that you will be very pleased with. Each bed is very comfortable and sure beats having to sleep on a hard motel mattress. You deserve the best!

We can also offer daily maid service and food preparation 'country style' for an extra fee. Flat land to land your helicopter if you wish.

About Jennifer Ellison

We are fifth generation owners of our farm. I, along with my brother Virgil own and operate the farm. It is a quite lovely and quite comfortable. It is modern, rustic, family-oriented, and ecologically-sustainable all wrapped up into one.

Jennifer Ellison purchased this farmhouse in 1831

Why Jennifer Ellison chose Delaware River Valley

This property rocks. You are minutes from the West Branch of the Upper Delaware River where some of the world's best fly fishing happens. Why stay at a stale cabin when you can have a real home with beautiful views, central air, lawns, and very comfortable beds to stay in. We are also close to many of the summer camps near Hancock, NY. when you want to come up for visitor's weekend. Hunting is abundant in the area.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Close to every location you might want to go to. 2.5 miles to the river for fishing. 5 minutes to town for a bite to eat, pharmacy or grocery store. Hunting on state land is minutes away. It is a historic farm house with modern conveniences. Be a part of the our story that began in 1831 when our ancestors established this farm for our family and generations to come. Paved parking, stone patio, 24X14 foot gazebo with heating for chillier nights and fans for the day. Geothermal central heating and air conditioning in the house--no cramped rooms with noisy drippy air conditioners you find at other local establishments. Solar hot water. Large lawns, beautiful views. Gosh, why wouldn't you consider staying here! Bonus: Help save a family farm so it is a true feel-good experience!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We really enjoyed our time at Briggs Heritage Farm. The house is very comfortable and had everything we needed. We were able to relax and enjoy our time during the holiday weekend with close friends. We chose Briggs Heritage Farm because it was easy to get to traveling from the city. Thank you!

Spacious, relaxing family gathering place 

  • 5 of 5

For the 5 adults and 2 children in our party, this was a totally suitable gathering place, even on what turned out to be a cold rainy weekend.

The Briggs Farm offers spacious accommodations and a comfortable, homey environment. From the moment of setting foot into the spacious entry, with large closet and bathroom immediately at your left and right, moving into the open plan great room and large den, and finally to discovering 2nd floor bedrooms and choosing which to use, the welcome was delightful.

In addition to the marvelous outdoor play yard, where our grandchildren spent hours playing undaunted by cold and damp, there is a children’s corner in the den filled with lots of books, stuffed animals, toys and appropriately-sized furniture. This was a hit!

Beds are cozy with bountiful accessories for however you desire to be supported and/or covered. There are plenty of towels (even a towel warmer - how often do you see that?) AND a generous supply of toilet paper - not cheap stuff either! Refrigerator space is ample; wonderful well water, including filtered through the fridge. Speaking of water, there was never an issue with hot water through multiple showers. We were also surprised to discover the range features 2 ovens, which our cooks found a great help.

Internet/WiFi worked without a fuss.

Owner is very responsive, despite being out of town. There is a local caretaker and specialists on call should the need arise.

During our stay we drove about an hour to the Discovery Center in Binghamton, which is a stimulation-rich, kid-friendly environment. We appreciated that this “museum” featured some unique hands-on exhibits including a fire engine and an ambulance. Ross Park Zoo is situated right next door. Even closer to Deposit, is Animal Adventure Park/Petting Zoo in Harpursville, NY, which boasts a baby giraffe born this Spring.

On our first full day some of us headed into "town" for lunch and landed at Katie’s Café. If you are up for very local atmosphere and just "regular" food, we wholly recommend this stop for breakfast or lunch. On Friday at noon the place was nearly fully occupied by locals, but there was space for us at the counter. We enjoyed full ‘fountain-style’ lunches at an unbelievable bargain.

As a place to gather family from various parts of the county for a relaxing weekend together you can’t do much better than Deposit, New York, and the Briggs Heritage Farm. Beats traditional lodging for my money!!!

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

We stayed there for 2 nights and it was just wonderful. I would definitely recommend this house if you are looking for colorful view in fall. It reminded us of New Hampshire trip. The property is in the farm surround by mountains and huge enough for 8 people. Usually I have seen issues related to warm water in rental house but this house did not. It was secluded and there is a small child play area in the front yard which I think people with children will appreciate. To top of this, gas stations, dollar store, liquor store are all located nearby, 20 min drive max. Just wonderful in one word.

Beautiful Old Farmhouse in Deposit

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful old farmhouse. The property and amenities exceeded our expectations. The house was fully stocked with all the necessary household goods, including very nice towels and linens and many of the appliances seemed to be new. The interior spaces were large enough to comfortably accommodate a bridal party of six while they got ready for the big event. The rural mountain setting is simply gorgeous -- the wedding photographer had her choice of amazing backdrops. Mother Nature was very kind to us -- we could see the Milky Way at night. And the peace and quiet was very restful.

Two local eating establishments were very nice and offered good food -- Koo Koose Grill and Butterfields. The BC Pizzeria's pizza was well-received by the groomsmen while getting ready on the wedding day.

We feel lucky and grateful to have the opportunity to stay at this property we found through VRBO. Thank you, Jennifer!!

A beautiful tranquil place for the family

  • 5 of 5

As soon as we drove up towards the Farmhouse from the road we felt that we got the more than what we expected from what we saw on the site. The website doesn't do justice for this property.

Its is all about peace and tranquility! The green Open Fields and the view of Forest behind it is just breathtaking . The house is a rustic ,beautiful ,historic feeling yet with modern technology and modern equipment that made the house so accommodating for whatever we needed.

There was plenty of room for the family to lounge around and enjoy the home .

I was there with my wife and my four children , 7 ,10 , 14 and 16 year old . There was plenty of games to entertain adults and kids ,costumes for the little kids to play & dress up.

All of us loved the vacation at his home, the younger ones also enjoyed the swing set the older ones including adults enjoyed the tire swing we all were running around on the open field playing, the kids were more entertained and so busy with the cattle watching them going in and out of the barn house .

The house had great AC ,land line and Wi-Fi and much more and was very well taken care of it was verry neat and verry clean.

Our whole family felt that we didn't have to do anything else, just being on the farm grounds was enough and an amazing experience for us to connect with an historical property with all the nature ,did I mention watching the deer on the hill and the wild turkeys, the beautiful birds. I can go on and on but there are no words describe the tranquil feeling that this brought us..

the owner Jennifer was very accommodating very quick to respond to our messages and gave us the comfortable feeling that this house is ours while we were there..

One more thing I have to add the caretaker of the property Louise came by to help us with a special request she was so accommodating and helpful and very friendly she shared with us things to do in the neighborhood..

We recommend this property very much as a vacation the family or a vacation just with friends you will love it!!

Best Spot for Photography and Fly Fishing and Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

I am a professional photographer. I enjoyed the lovely surrounding, Truly many places to explore. Fly Fishing store is in the heart of town answered many questions I had about the hot local spots. Even though it was a short stay for me I feel refreshed and revitalized from my busy New Jersey life style. I recommend this getaway for anyone wishing to unwind from the hustle and bustle. Who wants a relaxing time. The local restaurants offer a variety of choices. The local supermarket offers all quality choices if you have forgotten anything. Cooking in this large spacious kitchen was a delight. I would recommend to a single person, young family or romantic couple. Just a great place to unwind for a short time or a month. Your reward will be a new revitalized view of your own life.
