Overview

Hoffman House Rental Photos and Description

Unique Property With A Lake On Each Side Of The House.

You can look far and wide and never find one like this again. We have a four bedroom house on two lakes! You can watch the sun rise over one lake, then watch it set over the other one. Too windy today on one lake? No problem, it's perfectly calm on the other. Never miss a moment of enjoyment. There is 335 feet of private lake shore to enjoy with a private beach!

We now have a 20' pontoon boat available for rent. See our new cabin at http://www.vrbo.com/713808. We can rent you both cabins for extra large groups. We also have room for a trailer if you need.

This lake home has the ideal location. The back deck and bedroom windows are about 15' from the water of Lower Elk Lake. Enjoy a cool morning breeze through your bedroom window. Out the front there is another 165' of private shore on Elk Lake to go with the 150' of shore on Lower Elk Lake. We have a private sandy beach, hammock, fire pit, dock, and a boat lift on Elk Lake. There is another dock on Lower Elk. Along with the pontoon boat we also have kayaks, paddle boats, and a stand-up paddle board for you to enjoy. There is also a 14' fishing boat available if you ask and even fishing rods if you need.

The home features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, dining room, rumpus room (with foos-ball table, electronic dart board, video games, and board games), eat-in kitchen, deck, two patio doors right on the lake, all on two-thirds of an acre. There are seven beds that will sleep up to ten people in this 1,600 square foot home. The kitchen has plenty of counter space and there is a washer and dryer. We have a flat screen TV, high-speed internet, and a WDTV (to watch cable TV over Slingbox software. If you have a Netflix account you can log in on the TV). You can bring up dogs if you'd like (if housebroken).

Elk lake is the best swimming lake in the county. There is a public sandy beach with lifeguards (Certain hours only) only a very short walk away.

Both Elk and Lower Elk are great sand bottom fishing lakes. In either lake you can go after Walleye, Northern Pike, Large mouth Bass, and Sunfish. In 2014 we heard they're even catching Crappies on Elk. You're able to fish from the shore, the docks or from a boat. There is even a fish cleaning table by the garage.

Only two miles away you can find Hoffman, MN. Hoffman is a small quiet town but you'll be able to get most of the necessities you'll need there. It has a gas station, two restaurants, a bar/restaurant, grocery store, liquor store, service station, and other shops. There is even Red Rock Golf Course located three miles away.

If you need a little more action than sleepy Hoffman is able to provide that's not a problem as you're only about twenty minutes away from Alexandria MN. Alexandria has lots of shopping at dozens of antique stores and other shops. There are plenty of restaurants, retail stores, golf courses, and even a winery.

We'd really love to share our little bit of heaven with you.

Key words: Sandy Shore, fishing, walleye, kayak, cabin, pontoon, golf, relaxation.

Very comfortable lake home vacation for us!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time here. We had a family gathering and at one time we had 16 people in the house. The kids LOVED the beach which is just a few steps away from the house. It was nice to have a lifeguard on duty also for part of the day. We spent lots of time at the beach! We also did a lot of kayaking. There were lots of games to play and we did need them. We had a couple of rainy times during our stay. The kitchen is nicely supplied with what we needed, even for 16 people. When we need another summer vacation getaway with our family, we would definitely consider coming back to this house. Tim was great to work with. Thanks Tim and Jody

Enjoyed our stay.

Well equipped house and nice location. Outstanding patio overlooking the lake with mist and loons and jumping fish. Got a 3 day fishing license at the gas station 2 miles away and used the fishing boat with electric trolling motor. Awesome serene fishing.

The view off the back deck makes it all worthwhile.

  • 4 of 5

The view off the back deck is stunning. Besides being beautiful, it is quiet and peaceful. While we were there, we watched a nest of robins in the pine tree just off the deck grow up and leave. The martin families are amusing as well. The fishing was great; the kitchen well stocked, and it was nice to not have to worry about linens and towels. Our family enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards as well as the paddle boat. The television worked well and internet service was really good. The beach was well enjoyed, as well as the playground within easy walking distance. Having a washer and dryer at our disposal was great, as was the second refrigerator. There are a sufficient number of fans, however, the air conditioning consists of a single small window unit downstairs.

The house was clean. I enjoyed looking at the vintage decor, however, I was concerned family treasures might be damaged during our stay. The hot water gets VERY hot, and we decided immediately to buy bottled water for drinking. I am accustomed to well water, but I could not drink the water out of this tap and there is no system for filtration. The bedrooms are pretty small; we could not use the basement area due to the smell. There is no egress window in the basement, in any case. The half bath in the basement is not pleasant.

Great Location for our fishing group.... Good accomodations....

  • 4 of 5

Our group consisted of 3 couples and a couple of miscellaneous single adults. In addition, there were 3 other couples in the group who parked their travel trailers in the park about 2 blocks to the southwest. All of us were able to congregate on the deck, and there was ample table space in the kitchen and in the dining room for our group meals. The Kitchen appliances were excellent, and there was plenty of space for at least 5 women to work at a time. ( These wives were very compatible, however ) We were able to serve food buffet style on the kitchen counters for group breakfasts and dinners.

The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms well ventilated. Everyone slept very well. The living room area was large enough to accommodate the Jigsaw puzzle on the windy and rainy day. The TV worked and we watched the Indianapolis 500 on big screen. Wifi was up and running too.

The bathroom on the top floor got most of the use, as the bathroom on the basement still needs to be remodeled, and is pretty primitive. One of our single women slept on the futon in the basement recreation room, and was delighted that the room stayed cool enough to sleep under a blanket.

I found this listing last October on HomeAway, after spending 20 minutes on Lower Elk Lake and catching a couple of really big Largemouth Bass, earlier in the year. I was surprised and delighted to see accomodations available on the Elk Lakes. We had room to park 5 vehicles including 3 boats on this property. Tim also , generously, made another boat stored in the garage available to us if needed. We didn't need it, but a nice offer is always appreciated.

Our guys fished primarily for Largemouth Bass. We did very well, and are very impressed with the average size of the fish we caught. I have never fished better Bass lakes anywhere, any time. We released most of our fish after catching , measuring, weighing and picture taking. What a wonderful way to spend 9 days at the lake.

We don't know where our wives went or did for our stay, but they spent their days going to antique stores, wineries, grocery stores, and lunching somewhere in the vicinity. They were all happy, so, we were happy too.

Thank-you Tim for your gracious hospitality.

The property was neat, clean, and well stocked.

  • 5 of 5

The weather was beautiful and the fishing was good. We had some of our best fishing right from the dock. Supper on the deck at night was very relaxing. The cabin has everything that one needs to enjoy your stay at the lake, including the towels.

Everything was great!

  • 5 of 5

Everything went great. The view from the sunrise and sunset onlooking the two lakes were beautiful. The home was nice and tidy and really made us feel right at home. We were able to spend time closely with each other and we wouldn't recommend it any better.
