About Mia Dee
We, Jim and Mia, come from a multinational background and have lived and worked in many different places throughout the world. Currently we divide our time between Europe and USA with frequent stays in Asia. We continue to enjoy travelling both for work and pleasure, and having spent several vacations in Maine, we fell absolutely in love with the mid-coast area and were lucky enough to drive past our dream home one day which happened to be for sale. We plan to use this wonderful house as much as possible ourselves, and have furnished and equipped it as such - as a home we dream of returning to at any time of year and one we are delighted to share with friends and renters who share our love for beautiful spaces inside and out. We speak English, German, French and Danish.
Mia Dee purchased this House in 2013
Why Mia Dee chose Waldoboro
While vacationing in the Mid-Coast Region, we drove past this unique property one rainy day by pure coincidence and saw a 'for sale' sign. We were enchanted by the stunning views as well as the cosy look and feel of the home and figured “it was just meant to be”. Apart from being a very beautiful home, we love the fact that it has a history going back to 1884. We have albums at the house documenting the extensive remodelling and renovations which were carried out during 2012 when this place was the featured home in the DIY Network's programme 'Blog Cabin'.
What makes this House unique
When planning the renovation of this home, great care was taken to respect the original structure and features and a great effort was made to use many reclaimed materials, either by incorporating them in the new structure such as the original red double front door, now dividing the living space from the hallway leading to the master bedroom suite where again the beautiful wooden paneling is made of the house’s original inside doors. Wooden gutters were used both on custom-built tables as was barnwood reclaimed from an old structure. We very much feel that many parts of the old home which was build in 1884 continue to live on and we hope it will continue to do so for many generations to come.

Whimsy on Dutch Neck
This place will forever hold a place in my heart. It served as a push off point for discovery and provided enough magic of its own. I loved every minute of my stay and will be back soon. Mia and Jim are super, offering great insight to the community. Thank you!

Beautiful house wonderful setting
The Jacob’s Farm is a wonderfully relaxing place for a family retreat. We completely enjoyed our stay and are like looking forward to a future trip there.
My husband and I, our two tweens/teens and my parents stayed here for an absolutely beautiful week at Jacobs Place. It helped that the weather was perfect (only one day of rain). This house is just everything. Sitting on the deck watching the wild turkeys trot by, fishing, cooking delicious seafood meals in a kitchen fit for a master chef (which is not me, but I felt like one in this kitchen). There is a great selection of books and games (we got our kids to play scrabble for the first time). The whole-house sound system was perfect for evening impromptu karaoke or for zen-ing out while reading on the large window seat. In the master bedroom, it was wonderful to open up the wall of windows for morning yoga sessions (or for just laying in bed and taking in the early morning scene.
We also loved Damariscotta and the small coastal towns and the fun and beautiful hike to Peter's Pond (and it is a hike - bring water).
The owner, Mia Dee, was always available and so helpful. Thank you, Mia. I would definitely recommend Jacobs Place to anyone wishing to get away.
Terrific Midcoast Maine House
This is a terrific house. It was very clean. The downstairs is a really nice open space with a modern kitchen that is exceptionally well stocked. The master bedroom is spacious with a comfortable king size bed and a outstanding master bath with a great shower. The view across an open field to the water is excellent. The house is located in a very private setting on a low traffic country like road. It is less than 10 minutes to Waldoboro, 20 minutes to Damariscotta and 30 minutes to Rockland. Found some terrific restaurants in Rockland - Primo Restaurant is exception. Highly recommend the Puffin and Nature cruise from the Mohegan Boat Line out of St. George.
If you are looking for a modern, comfortable, well equiped house with a fine view, Jacobs Place is it.
This is one beautiful place.
My family (wife, 2 sons and their wives) spent a week at Jacob's Place and enjoyed it tremendously. The house is set is such an idyllic place. Trees and a meadow and then the water. Across the way, a lovely forested path to a beautiful and peaceful pond. The house was spacious enough for all six of us and we were able to enjoy meals together, spend time playing games and truly relaxing. The location is central to several parts of Maine that you won't want to miss. Camden and Rockland to the north; Pemaquid and Boothbay Harbor to the south. I am sure there are other places to explore as well. The house is so immaculate and well kept. The deck and patio areas are truly to be used as much as possible to enjoy the fresh air and peace all around. We were all very impressed and have decided we will have to come back again in the future. Thank you Mia and James for allowing us the time together your home.
