Beautiful home on a beautiful setting on the Manistee River. The home owner was fantastic and the accommodations were everything we thought, and more! We loved our long weekend and look forward to booking more time there in the upcoming months! There was nothing we would change about our stay...the description on the website matched what we experienced. Thanks!
The home was absolutely gorgeous with so many neat little details at every turn. The pictures don't do the home justice! What was even better was the view of the river. We had 5 kids ranging from ages 1 to 10 and they all had a blast in the river. We tubed and kayaked down the river several times. We also went to Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City.
The owner of the property lived down the street and was a great host! Our party could not say enough good things about him. He did not bother us just stopped by to take out the trash and offered an awesome tour of his property. What a great gem we found. We are going to try and do this again next year but bring more couples to enjoy it also. Just so you know the cell service is extremely spotty at the house but was able to get full service 2 miles down the street if needed. He also has a land line for any emergencies.
My family composed of two 1-year olds, three couples in their 20s, and two grandparents in their 60s. ALL ten of us had an absolute blast. There is so much this house has to offer! It has so much character and warmth, but also has the rustic feel of a true log cabin (with all the amenities, of course).
We had bon fires, fished in the Manistee River, took advantage of the huge yard to play outdoor games, lazily floated down the river in tubes, hiked at nearby Sand Lakes Quiet Area, and did all sorts of activities in Traverse City and the surrounding area. The owners couldn't be friendlier or more accommodating.
Most of my family had not been to Michigan or ever been this "detached" from it all (there is usually no cell service at the cabin). But everyone loved the peaceful nature scenes all around them and quickly forgot about their cell phones. By the time we left everyone was in love with this part of the country.
My only caution would be how far off the beaten path the cabin is. It's about 30-minutes off I-75 and feels out there, but again, we loved how peaceful everything was.
We host an annual camping trip every year with friends and finding a place big enough to house everyone is a challenge. However, this place was very roomy and plenty to do! The river is just a quick walk for tubing, an amazing fire pit and plenty of yard to play games. Lilly and Jamie were great hosts and answered all our questions about the area. We are definitely keeping this on our short list for next year.
Such a great place! Very private and fun time with a group of friends. Tubing in the river, laying out watching the stars at night, playing corn hole, or just hanging out around the fire pit. Lilly and Jamie were amazing and very helpful with answering our questions about the area. This is definitely on our short list for next years annual trip!
Make sure you make the trip to Traverse City for the National Cherry Festival in July. Many family fun activities, and the ever popular sweet red cherries. The festival features parades, sand castle building contests, food and spirits, movies by the bay, concerts, and fabulous fireworks display over the Grand Traverse Bay. Enjoy a stroll down the historic streets of Traverse City which offer many boutiques and cozy restaurants. Also has several night clubs for an evening of fun! Or if you enjoy local wine, schedule a tour on the beautiful peninsula, wine tasting and tours just 35 minutes away.
