About Chuck or Marti Bauer

Happily married for 43 years, Chuck & Marti Bauer have lived in the Roaring Fork Valley since 1974.

Originally from Southern California, Chuck is an avid rafter, fisherman, hunter and all-around outdoorsman. Chuck has become renowned in the Aspen area for his classic contemporary building style. Aria's Loft and the Bauer's private residence feature Chuck's unique style, pairing his rustic palette with modern sensibility. Chuck's distinctive eye for form and function have made him one of the most sought after builders in the Aspen area.

From Southwestern Michigan, Marti is first and foremost a horse enthusiast. Her genius talent for gardening, art and design compliment their homes' zen-like aesthetic. Marti is a full-time ski instructor, artist, and representative for Nikken, the world's leading manufacturer of innovative products for health and home. Chuck and Marti split their time between their homes in Carbondale, Colorado and Moab, Utah.

Why Chuck or Marti Bauer chose Northwest Colorado

Residents of the Roaring Fork Valley since 1974, forward-thinking Chuck and Marti saw Carbondale as an ideal community to build their dream home. Locally renowned custom builder, Chuck Bauer, took advantage of the close proximity to the Downtown Core to incorporate his love of design with the natural environment unique to this garden-centric property. The final project is a stunning architectural beauty.

Fabulous home and kitchen

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay in Marti and Chuck's home in Carbondale. We feel very comfortable here as the kitchen is fully stocked with cooking equipment and dishes, the beds are comfortable and the hot tub is a big plus when muscles are sore. No negatives at all!!!

Exceeded our expectations!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed our stay at the Residence over the holidays. The Bauer home completely exceeded our expectations. It's evident that Chuck and Marti take great pride in making sure their guests are comfortable. One of our favorite things about their home was the kitchen. One of the main reasons we choose vacation rentals over hotels when we travel is because we like to cook our meals at home. The Bauer kitchen is stocked with all the of the cooking necessities plus extras! We also really enjoyed the town of Carbondale and the surrounding area. It is a very easy drive to both Aspen and Glenwood Springs. We would highly recommend the Residence to anyone. We hope to return to the Residence sometime during the summer to enjoy the backyard as well as hiking in the mountains.

Exceptional Property

  • 5 of 5

Would highly recommend this property. It is convenient to Aspen, Snowmass, Sunlight Mtn and hot springs. Great restaurants are just a few minutes away on quaint Main Street.

The property itself is beautiful and thoughtfully designed. Fantastic kitchen, very comfortable bedrooms, shower in master is fantastic, heated floors, fireplace, room for everyone to spread out and cozy gathering areas. Artwork through home adds to the beauty of the home. Hot tub out back was greatly appreciated after skiing.

It is a lovely place!

Perfectly Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time staying at The Residence! The Bauer's home is so full of charm, along with comfort everywhere you turn. We marveled at the beauty of the architecture and art our entire stay. The back yard living space was probably our favorite place to retreat.

Thank you Bauers! We hope to return to Carbondale next year and can't imagine a more perfect home or location than this one!

Beautiful home, great location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five (3 teenagers) really enjoyed our week at this home. We started our 10-day trip in Rocky Mountain NP, and spent the remaining week in Carbondale in this custom-designed, contemporary home. I recommend the location - Carbondale - as an emerging art/historical town situated between Aspen and Glenwood Springs, since there are interesting hikes and sites in each of those locations. Home could get a little warm in summer afternoons, but a central fan (not A/C) helps make the home comfortable by evening. Kitchen is very well stocked, and the highlight is the back patio/garden area. A short 2-block walk to Main Street, which has several nice restaurants and the market on Wednesdays. Owners are very helpful, and they provide many good tips and recommendations for your stay.
