About Bill Russell
After growing up in Wisconsin I finally moved in 1980 to Yosemite to climb the rocks and mountains. In the winter I enjoy skiing the winter snows and when the snow melts into river water I use the same water for kayaking, rafting and fly fishing. I have worked as a rock climbing guide and instructor at the Yosemite Mountaineering School since 1993 and I'm very familiar with all the scenic and recreational opportunities available in and around Yosemite 12 months a year.
Bill Russell purchased this House in 2012
Why Bill Russell chose Yosemite West
7164 Yosemite Park Way is at the end of the road and in a less built-up part of Yosemite West. This insures less noise and traffic.

Excellent place .
Wonderful . Stayed here many times and will come back . Convenient, clean, and well maintained . Bill is great and lives next door if you need anything .
Comfy and super close to Yosemite Valley.
The property is at the end of Yosemite Park Way, which makes it quiet. Nothing but trees below and no traffic. The house is well equipped and comfortable. We did some great hikes with no more than 20 minute drives to the trailheads. Nice to come back to a hot shower and to be able to make a meal. Well stocked with movies (DVDs). We had a great visit to Yosemite staying here.
We spent 5 days at this property while visiting Yosemite NP. It was very comfortable and enjoyable. We arrived late and Bill was there to greet us. The house is beautiful and clean, and has tons of space, all the amenities you need. Very peaceful. Yosemite West is very convenient to the Valley. We would definitely stay here again if our travels bring us back to this area. Thank you, Bill!
Very nicely appointed home
This was a great property in Yosemite West, with three bedrooms. The home is very nicely done with large windows facing the ridge forest on the back side. It's a bit of a drive to get to the property, off Highway 41 inside the park on paved roads since it is on the very last street in Yosemite West. It's about a 30 minute drive to the Valley Floor, or back to the Glacier Point Road and Mariposa Grove. Very Quiet neighborhood.. No through traffic..
Cell phone service does not pick up in the house, but will work a few streets up the hill on the way out. Also, no cable TV service, but there is a large selection of movies to play on the big screen TV. Overall a pleasant stay.
Good base-camp for Yosemite Valley
It was a good base camp for visiting Yosemite Valley. We had an issue when we had a family member surprise us at Yosemite. The owner complained about the additional guest, but with the spotty cell phone service, the rate for cleaning and the fact it was for a single night in a 3 bedroom house, we feel a whole house is the way we will go on our next trip to avoid this unpleasantness when we bring our little boy with us next trip.
Overall, the house was clean, spacious and the neighbors (who are building to the left) were very helpful on some hidden gems nearby.
Civilized living in the wilderness
Stay here if your plans are to see this side of the park. Location and amenities were all that we had hoped for.
7164 Yosemite Park Way, Yosemite West is located approximately midway between Yosemite Valley, Wawona and Glacier Point. This gives you easy access not only to the many attractions of the Valley but also the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia, historic Wawona, the beautiful Glacier Point road and last but not least Badger Pass alpine and nordic ski area.
