Northern Michigan Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Waterfront (3 Bed, 2 Bath-sleeps 7) Wi-fi, Sat-sat Rentals. Pets Considered

The Lazy Lodge is situated near the end of a quiet peninsula with over a 200 foot long private drive. Tucked away from the road on a wooded lot surrounding this lakefront home which has an incredible view. It also features a large private backyard that is perfect for relaxing. We have 85 feet of private frontage with a hard sandy bottom with no immediate drop off.

Our cozy cottage has 3 bedrooms 2 full bathrooms, is over 1,500 sqft. and built on more than ¾’s of an acre of land. The cottage is one level and only three steps throughout. We have 1 queen bed, one full bed and the third bedroom has a set of bunk beds plus a one twin bed.

Our expansive floor plan provides space for the whole family (or two) and includes a large farmers table that easily seats 8 adults. The waterfront side of the Lazy Lodge has large expansive panoramic windows that take advantage of the beauty of the lake which is a mere 25 feet away. Much of the rustic charm comes from the solid pine board living areas, wood burning fire place and limestone hearth.

Green Lake is a 2,000 acre, crystal clear all sports lake with a large portion of its shore line dedicated to state parks, nature preserves and the world famous Interlochen Arts academy. Green Lake is a quiet and peaceful in addition to being perfect for swimming, fishing and boating.

The Lazy Lodge is just minutes from Traverse City, Crystal Mountain Ski and Golf Resort, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park (Voted by Good Morning America as the most beautiful place in America), numerous Wineries, concert halls, Casinos and Golf courses.

Summer time requires a 7 night stay and a Saturday check in/out date.

About Holly Schmude

I grew up in Traverse City and moved away after college. I found that the only time I truly escaped was when I was up North taking in all of the natural beauty, culture and pace of life. To find a place up North it allows me to spend quality time with my family and the peace we were all seeking.

Holly Schmude purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Holly Schmude chose Northern Michigan

You will immediately realize you are someplace special as pass under the Pennloch Colony sign you enter the private peninsula. As you near the end, the peninsula widens and becomes very private and wooded. This is where you will find the Lazy Lodge. For those that are seeking peace and serenity you have found it. Our Cottage is has the space to spread out and know that your family is safe and contained within this piece of heaven. Come fall in love with the Lazy Lodge like we have.

What makes this cottage unique

You can sit on the end of your private dock and listen to concerts. The warm and cozy pine board walls and large limestone fireplace set you at ease and into vacation mode. The main bathroom is large with a huge soaking tub for after those long fun days. The front room can be used as a 4th bedroom as it has a hide abed with its own private bathroom. You have a 2000 acre all sports lake with a hard sandy bottom and a gradual slope with no drop off (Not all places can say this). You have room for all your water toys and their trailers. Welcome to the Lazy Lodge!

Green Lake gem

  • 5 of 5

Our family - 2 adults and 5 kids - stayed for a week this summer and we had a great time. The lake and water are as described- beautiful and clear. The kids spent hours in the water, and we enjoyed the kayaks that were at the house. Being so close to the water made our stay in Interlochen even more relaxing than usual. The fire pit for s'mores was happily used frequently. The house is comfortable and clean, but it doesn't have a dishwasher or washer/dryer. I thought the house was roomier and brighter than suggested by the photos. If you're looking for a home just yards from a beautiful lake, that is close to all of the local sights- Interlochen, Sleeping Bear, Empire, and Traverse City- this is a wonderful place to stay.

Elopers in Autumn

  • 4 of 5

Eloped and the whole small wedding party for here, nice and quiet (in the off season), spacious and right on the water. Bit of a drive to go out anywhere, about 45 to Traverse City, it is near the end of the peninsula. Great, nice owners and overall positive experience.

Loved the lazy lodge!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed for a week this summer at the lazy lodge cottage. We truly enjoyed every day, the water was beautiful, the views amazing and it was wonderful to be close to our family who also lives on the peninsula. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies necessary to cook each day and the grill and bonfire pit were great too. This cottage was cozy, clean, roomy and comfortable for our family. Thank you and we would love to stay again sometime!

We had a great week with great weather. The Interlochen music camp was nice to see again. I went to this camp in 1964, so I had memories from then and made more with my family. It sure has changed in 50 years. Traverse City was wonderful to tour and the wine trail was nice also. Lots to do in upper Michigan. The rental was clean and had everything that we needed. The only thing that would have made it a bit better would be to have some air conditioning. It got a bit hot at night to sleep but there were fans that helped. We would recommend this property to our family and friends. Thanks, Vaughn and Diana

W had a problem with sewer as soon as we moved into home. Waited till monday to call and it was fiixed quickley. We needed more trash cans for six adults. Also we had no good sorce to get rid of the fish cleaned by-products. The home was great and the people around us were fine. We caught a bunch of fish and it was a fun trip.

Beautiful Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Interlochen and this rental had everything we could possibly need for a true home away from home. Very well equipped house in a beautiful setting on Green Lake. Incredible evenings spent laying on the dock listening to music and star gazing. Haven't seen so many stars in quite awhile. Convenient to Interlochen Academy of the Arts, great restaurants and shopping in Traverse City and a short drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes. We would definitely stay here again.
