Bar Harbor House Rental Photos and Description

Fabulous 3BR, 1 Bath In-Town Location - Walk Everywhere!

This is our home, and we would love to share it with you! Located on Federal Street, Moose Manor is a 1904 New England-style house with all the upgrades and conveniences of modern living. Freshly painted throughout with exquisite, fully-equipped designer kitchen and a fully updated bath. All the comforts of home in one perfect location, walking distance to everything.

There are 3 bedrooms which comfortably sleep 6. One bedroom has a queen bed, the second has one full and twin bed, and the third has a twin. There is one bathroom (with a wonderful claw-foot tub!) on the second floor. Each bedroom includes wall mirrors to reduce demand for bathroom mirror time. Master bedroom includes a dressing table with light/mirror. All bedrooms have abundant sunshine and ocean breezes.

The front of the house features a wonderful enclosed porch with a bistro table/chairs, rocker and futon. Perfect for morning coffee or an afternoon nap. The soft sound of local seagulls is often present.

In the back of the house, just off the kitchen, you'll find a small wood deck with a Weber grill and chairs to enjoy the cool afternoon breeze while your steak is grilling.

The kitchen has everything you'll need if you choose to prepare some of your own meals during your stay, including some basic pantry items for your use. Top-of-the-line small appliances (including Bunn coffee maker!) are available as well. Other items include Belgian waffle maker, 4 slice Cuisinart toaster, blender, food-processor, Crock Pot, pots/pans and bake-ware as well as an OVER-SIZED lobster pot for boiling your own 'catch' right at home! Easy instructions provided.

Although you'll probably want to get out and enjoy all that Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park has to offer, the home is also supplied with 'rainy day items' should you choose to stay indoors. 32' LCD TV, DVD player, iPod dock/radio, and a wide selection of books, DVDs and games are available for your enjoyment.

About Paul Strathman

We are Paul and Joy Strathman and we have lived in the Midwest for the past 20 years. It all began when we took a trip to Maine, simply because we'd never been there before.

Since then, we've been back to various parts of Coastal Maine every year and while we enjoy all the towns we've visited, we have fallen hopelessly in love with Bar Harbor. As so often happens when one visits a very special place, one's mind wanders into the possibilities of someday living there.

Our home in Bar Harbor is truly a dream come true. This 1904 New England-style residence is perfectly located right in town; walking distance to everything. We have filled Moose Manor with things we love and have included all the comforts that we enjoy when we are there. We hope that you will enjoy our very special home and likewise fall in love with Bar Harbor.

What makes this house unique

While on one of our early visits to Bar Harbor, we went for a walk. As we passed by this house, my wife said, 'Paul, please buy me that porch!' We both chuckled and continued our walk. Little did we know that we would not only someday buy the porch, but the wonderful home which sits behind it as well!

This inviting home has been lovingly cared for by each owner since the house was built in 1904. We are only the 4th family to own this property. The warmth and charm of Moose Manor is captivating and it's fabulous location cannot be beat!

Stunning Fall Display in a quaint harbor town

  • 5 of 5

I had never had the opportunity to visit Maine. A fall trip to Barharbor came highly recommended. We arrived at Moose Manor after a day's travel culminating in a beautiful flight on Cape air. The accommodations were fantastic! The house is warm and oh so comfortable!! The home is in walking distance of the town and all it offers. There are shuttles that transport you to Acadia National Park for hiking and sight seeing. Maine in the fall is stunning. I don't think there was a better place to stay than Moose Manor. The house location is perfect; the home has everything you need for your stay;and it is like staying in your own home. If you have a longing to go to Barharbor, Maine in the fall or at any time, I recommend staying at Moose Manor.

What a wonderful vacation we had! Moose Manor is a lovely appointed, comfortable and convenient home base to experience the beauty & diversity of Bar Harbor, Maine. The owners have thought of every detail to make the stay like home. The kitchen is fully equipped, the appliances first rate, the beds very comfortable and the bath towels lush & plentiful. The location couldn't be better --- walking distance to shops & restaurants. All in all, the perfect place to stay in Maine! Can't wait to go back!

Great stay at Moose Manor

  • 5 of 5

Thank you to the owner of Moose Manor for the wonderful house which reflects the beautiful location of Maine. The house was very inviting and so much was included that I couldn't name it all. There is a fully stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture, great beds and lots of room in this century old home. The location to the activities of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park couldn't have been better, everything was in walking distance or a free shuttle service would take us there.

Beautiful home and close to everything!

Perfect week with our family! One thing though...the mail trucks are extremely loud for the people staying in the back bedroom. Otherwise, perfect!

Great and gracious stay!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 had a wonderful stay at Moose Manor. The home was so comfortable and truly homey! It had real, home like furnishings, and in particular, all the "little things" that make a building a home - some laundry detergent for the washer; cooking utensils, pots, pans, dishes of the quality we would want in our home; pleasant bedrooms which truly felt homey.

One the best surprises was the professionalism, graciousness, and responsiveness demonstrated by Paul. He always answered when we called and addressed things promptly! It's clear he likes things run well and if they weren't he was quick to seek resolution. This is also evident in the excellent upkeep of this century old home!

Finally, we were so blessed by the location. Truly we could park our car and enjoy everything bar harbor had to offer!

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Moose Manor for our 25th anniversary! We had never been to Bar Harbor, so it was going to be a totally new experience for us. Paul and Joy's house was located so conveniently to everything!! They had told us we wouldn't need a car while we were there and that everything was within walking distance...and it is absolutely true. The only time we used our car was to get to and from the airport and to drive out to a place where we went on a boat excursion to Somes Sound. You can walk out the front door of Moose Manor and be at the bike/kayak rental place in 2 minutes and dozens or restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream places, shops, etc. within 3-6 minutes. And the harbor and Shore Path are only a 5-minute walk away. It was WONDERFUL! The house itself is spotless, cozy, nicely decorated and has everything you could possibly need during your stay. We really enjoyed sitting on the front porch with its big windows and very much appreciated having a washer and dryer available. And Paul and Joy were so kind to give us lots of information about Bar Harbor and things to do there before we went. Finally, we really enjoyed that there was a keypad code to the front door and that we didn't have to mess with a key all week. We already had lots to take with us whenever we went hiking, biking, kayaking, etc., so that was a really nice convenience that my husband and I commented on several times while we were there. Bottom line...we LOVED Moose Manor and Bar Harbor. It truly was one of our best vacations ever!
