Stepping Stones is an inviting 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom home in the enchanting neighborhood of Greenwich, approx. 4,000 feet up in Jamaica’s famed Blue Mountains. Located in one of the world’s finest coffee growing areas, the community of Greenwich is built on the site of an early British Military camp, about a mile from the main military training installation at Newcastle, which is still in use today by the Jamaica Defense Force. Steeped in history, and nestled among spectacular gardens, this heavenly retreat will inspire the soul and leave you feeling rejuvenated and at peace.
Go for a stroll in the gardens, filled with a variety of flowers and plants, including: hydrangeas, lilies, anthuriums, coffee, wild strawberries, nasturtiums, ferns, bananas and many more.
The property consists of the main house, Stepping Stones, extensively refurbished in the 1980s, with 3 bedrooms (2 with queen size beds and one with twin beds) and 3 bathrooms, living and dining rooms, kitchen and a large verandah with breathtaking views over Kingston, the harbour, and the mountains. Features include a gas fireplace, satellite dish and Internet. There is a newly-built cottage, Pebbles, completed in 2013 with 2 bedrooms (both with queen size beds), 2 bathrooms, a kitchenette (with coffee maker, small fridge, a toaster oven and a microwave) and a verandah with views over Kingston, the Caribbean Sea and the mountains.
You have a choice of dining inside or on the verandah.
Most visitors explore the area by foot: there is the Hollywell National Recreational Park, with its lovely footpaths; The Gap Café for good Jamaican cooking and fresh Blue Mountain Coffee.
A little further away is the famous Strawberry Hill Hotel and Spa in Irish Town, about 25 minutes away by car; EITS Café an organic farm and restaurant also near Irish Town, (which will deliver to Greenwich); and the Old Tavern Coffee Farm (tours can be arranged), which produces some of the island’s finest coffee.

Come and enjoy the peace and tranquility of Jamaica’s mountains.
Debbie and George were both born and raised in Jamaica, and were married in the gardens of Stepping Stones 25 years ago. They own a successful real estate company in Kingston and enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and traveling.
George Cumming purchased this house in 1987
Like many Kingston residents, Debbie and George visited the area as kids, enjoying hiking and picnics in the mountains. Debbie's parents purchased the property in 1987, and Debbie and George took it over in 2013, adding a 2 bed, 2 bath cottage.
Greenwich is a very special place to all who visit- the views, the air, the walks in the garden and the way time just seems to pass more slowly.
Just a note to let you know that we and our guests had the most wonderful weekend.
Your staff, Antionette, Donovan and Maureen were outstanding in their duties.
Thank you for all your assitance in making it a very memorable 30th anniversary.
This is our second year staying at Stepping Stones, and it is just glorious - the house and cottage are spacious and comfortable, cozy in the rain, perfect for family gatherings. The gardens are breathtaking and the view out to Kingston Harbour is mesmerizing - you could just sit and look for hours and hours. The staff is friendly, capable and unobtrusive - all in all it is a great experience and one that we hope to repeat next year (if not sooner!)
Our stay at Stepping Stones was delightful. The accommodation is exquisite, the gardens a veritable delight and the views spectacular. The staff (Antionette, Donavan and Natalie) are fantastic, with the fabulous food prepared and presented beautifully.
The main house and cottage are tastefully furnished and extremely comfortable with great bathrooms, comfortable beds and lots of space to kick back and relax. Gathering the whole family on the porch overlooking the gorgeous gardens (with spectacular plants and colourful, vibrant exotic flowers in abundance) overlooking Kingston in the distance, was just perfect. The evening by the firepit was fun and relaxing. I'd highly recommend and can't wait to return.
The Blue Mountains are more beautiful than any beach in Jamaica. The views, plants, flowers, birds, are amazing. The weather is cool and perfect - even when the clouds roll in. The home is delightful and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed sitting on the porch. The staff was kind and unobtrusive. My husband and I hiked up to Holywell National Park, drove down a little ways and had delicious dinners at EITS Cafe, sublime coffee at Cafe Blue, read and relaxed. It was just perfect. The drive up the mountain from Kingston is rough but worth it.
