About Margene Walz

Hi, Welcome to my home – My name is Margene Walz. I am the owner and am thrilled to show you around. Many years ago I moved to California from Nebraska but have always missed the mid-western values and hospitality. Through the advice of my brother Mike Walz of Crystal Beach's Walz Family Builders I seized the opportunity to sell my California condominium and built on Bolivar. I appreciate the area and the hospitality. It is like coming back to my roots. I am very pleased to be able to share my home with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. (By the way...the picture is of my great nephew, Alex. He photographs cuter than I do.)

Margene Walz purchased this house in 2014

Why Margene Walz chose Texas

Since my brother owns a home and a business in Crystal Beach I have visited many times. Each time I fell more and more in love with the area. I decided to invest my retirement money here and I can't wait to share this peaceful stress-free beach with you.

What makes this house unique

The front deck is 16' deep - 8' is covered and 8' is uncovered. Guests are able to enjoy the shade, read, sip a glass of wine or beer or tan in the sunshine. The deck which wraps around 3 sides of the house has private doors from the Master bedroom and Guest bedroom. Each has its own romantic personal space. But the most impressive thing about this home is the spectacular beach front view. The family area under the house includes an enclosed shower, bar with enclosed refrigerator and 2 built-in picnic tables. It is a wonderful area that will accommodate many family members and guests. Plus it is brand new and offers you all the comforts of home with the additional bonus of hearing and watching the surf.

Wonderful Beach House

  • 4 of 5

This is our first time to rent a beach house. We go to the beach every summer, but usually stay in a condo in Port Aransas or South Padre. The kids wanted to take the dog, so we rented this beautiful beach house. We loved our stay there. The home was perfect for our family of 4 kids and 2 adults. It is very close to the beach and there is a lovely view. Our only complaint is that the beach itself was pretty dirty. There were paper plates, bottle caps, forks, gloves, toothbrushes, etc. that washed up to the shore. That was the case throughout the entire beach area that we walked one way or the other (1 mile either direction). We loved the house, but we probably will not return because of the uncleanliness of the beach.

Owner's Response: I was very sad to hear the beach was cluttered with debris during this guest’s stay. As you know Texas and the Bolivar Peninsula have had an unusually large amount of rain, wind and storms over the last two months. With high wind velocity and rain pushing the tides higher than usual, trash was left on the beach. But Bolivar Peninsula has always been known for its clean and friendly beaches. By the end of the week it was once again clean. With all the guests I have had over the 2 years this is my first complaint about the beach. The normal comment is what a great time guests and their children had and how clean the area is in front of the house. (There isn’t a lot of traffic in that area). Just check out the review below this one. They were only days apart from each other and the only mention of the beach was a positive one. I hope this guest will realize this was an unusual time and give Bolivar Peninsula another chance.

We love it!

  • 5 of 5

Our second summer here and we love it! The beach was quiet and not at all crowded, even during peak season. The house is perfect and we will do it again next summer! Highly recommend. Low key vacation, owner is extremely responsive and easy to work with and house is wonderful!

Beautiful, Relaxing, and Clean Property

  • 5 of 5

I went with a group of my teaching friends for one last trip before the school year started. It was a very clean property and was steps away from the beach. The listing is completely accurate, and we even found some things that we were told were not provided! We all enjoyed our days on the deck playing games and just watching and listening to the surf. Would highly recommend this property.

The owner was very customer-oriented and ensured that all instructions were laid out and ready to go for the stay. The only thing I will say is that the TV in bedroom 3 would not work with the DirecTv as it said it was not supported by the cable type utilized. This did not take away from any of the stay, though!

Owner's Response: I always appreciate the wonderful comments from my guests. The mention of "relaxing" comes up again and again. And isn't that the purpose of vacations? Everyone needs a break, especially our teachers. I'm not sure what the issue was with the TV. Sometimes guests mistakenly key in the wrong cable input source and it doesn't work. I did check them and all 4 TVs work so future guests are good to go.

Beautiful home, amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for us. Great location with easy beach access and amazing views. We were traveling with 4 young kids and really appreciated that there were kids size chairs on the deck and night lights in the kids room. Plus a gate at the top of the deck stairs meant our toddler could roam around the deck. Everything about the house was comfortable, inviting and accommodating. Thank you Margene for sharing your home with us. We can't wait to be back next summer!

Owner's Response: Young families are one of the biggest groups to stay at Pelican Bay. I see these cuties in the Facebook pictures the parents post. Because there are so many I just added kids' chairs to the deck. I listen to my guests suggestions and try to accommodate all age groups. Comfort for all is my goal.

Pelucan Bay is definitely a beach home anyone will want to return to! A short walk to the beach, nice-sized balcony, and an unobstructed view of the ocean! Perfect for any family vacation!
