Newly built in May 2014 this home has a spectacular gulf view from the kitchen, living room, master bedroom and guest bedroom! Sleeping quarters include master bedroom with king size bed - guest room with queen bed and a bunk room with 1 set of full bunk beds. Comfortably sleeps 8. Sofa bed is provided for additional guests. But the best part is the view! From the 3 decks you can watch the sun rise or sun set. In addition you will see the ships travel in the Gulf and the barges on the Inter-coastal canal. The grill, two built in picnic tables and bar downstairs make entertaining easy and enjoyable in any kind of weather. WiFi - Blue Ray & Pandora are available. About Margene Walz

Hi, Welcome to my home – My name is Margene Walz. I am the owner and am thrilled to show you around. Many years ago I moved to California from Nebraska but have always missed the mid-western values and hospitality. Through the advice of my brother Mike Walz of Crystal Beach's Walz Family Builders I seized the opportunity to sell my California condominium and built on Bolivar. I appreciate the area and the hospitality. It is like coming back to my roots. I am very pleased to be able to share my home with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. (By the way...the picture is of my great nephew, Alex. He photographs cuter than I do.)

Since my brother owns a home and a business in Crystal Beach I have visited many times. Each time I fell more and more in love with the area. I decided to invest my retirement money here and I can't wait to share this peaceful stress-free beach with you.

What makes this house unique

The front deck is 16' deep - 8' is covered and 8' is uncovered. Guests are able to enjoy the shade, read, sip a glass of wine or beer or tan in the sunshine. The deck which wraps around 3 sides of the house has private doors from the Master bedroom and Guest bedroom. Each has its own romantic personal space. But the most impressive thing about this home is the spectacular beach front view. The family area under the house includes an enclosed shower, bar with enclosed refrigerator and 2 built-in picnic tables. It is a wonderful area that will accommodate many family members and guests. Plus it is brand new and offers you all the comforts of home with the additional bonus of hearing and watching the surf.

Family Vacation

To say that everything was perfect would be an understatement. The owner was great to work with and the house was everything that it appeared to be. It was well furnished for all of our needs. Be careful taking a shower outside if someone is coming down the stairs, they might get an eye full. Was not a problem for us in any way. We will be booking again very soon. We have found our diamond on Bolivar. Thanks so much.

My family came back again this year because we so enjoyed ourselves last year. I must say we were not disappointed at all. Peaceful , serene, relaxing. The perfect setting for a getaway. Margene is the perfect hostess and should be proud of her beach house. We love it!!

Great ocean views! Cozy and comfortable.

We stayed at Pelican Bay over July 4th weekend. We weren't sure what to expect being a holiday at the beach but we were pleasantly surprised that the beach was never too crowded to enjoy! The house was clean and cozy with just enough room for our party of 6 adults, 1 teen, and 6 kiddos aged 10 mos to 12 yrs. we brought our own pack n play for the baby and our toddler shared the master bed with us. Ideally we would probably go for a 4 bedroom if we were to travel with this group again. But overall, everyone was comfortable.

We enjoyed a lot of front porch sittin' during the warmer hours of the day and hit the beach mid mornings and late afternoon into the evening.

4th of July on the beach was a whole new experience for us. You truly cannot go 100 yards without some sort of fireworks display taking place. And they could be heard pretty late into the night, but that can be expected almost anywhere that fireworks are allowed :)

Our first day at the house we had a power outage that we later found out was basically the whole peninsula. We had contacted Margene about it and she responded right away with a phone call letting us know it should be back on within an hour or so.

I had read previously about the house swaying with the wind. We did experience that quite a bit, but it wasn't an issue.

The house keeper had checked with us on the new tv's that had been installed before our arrival. She later (another day) returned with a brand new grill for the patio, as the one that was there had only half a metal grate for holding coals.

Travelers should know that resources are pretty limited in general on the peninsula, but even more so after 9pm most days. If you have special diet requirements you should probably bring your items from home if possible or make a drive to Houston where you will probably find more specialty type of stores like Whole Foods or the like. The Big store is a great option if you're not looking for much in the way of organics ;-) the Family Dollar was a complete mess of a store, but also a viable option for necessary items if you aren't in a hurry!

If you plan to fish, you may want to plan ahead and order your fishing license as there was only one place to buy them and it turned out they weren't sold after 2pm on a Saturday when we needed them. BUT you can buy them online and write down the number in case you get stopped.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would refer others to this property for sure!

Owner's Response: I'm glad this guest mentioned the purple martins. We love them flying around the beach house. They help with the reduction of mosquitos! Plus they are fun to watch.

Just Amazing

Our stay was absolutely amazing, the house has one of the cleanest I have stayed in. We caught a lot of fish from the shore and the sunrises and sunsets were great. The view was amazing.The breeze from the gulf made it so it was not to hot to sit under the covered deck. Can't wait to rent again. The owner was very friendly and there if we needed anything and easy to get ahold of.

Owner's Response: I really appreciate this guest commenting about the cleaning crew. I think I have the best on the Peninsula!!! As many of you know most of the working crews do not live on the peninsula but come from an outside area. I have been blessed to have such a great consistent cleaning service. I know the guests appreciate it too.

Rented this wonderful place for my birthday celebration.

Very cozy but with plenty of room.
