Come relax and let all your worries float away as you relax on a private deck while listening to a babbling creek. Warm your toes with a crackling fire, as you watch the sun slowly dip behind the mountains.
Keep your eyes keenly attentive to the many opportunities to see wildlife at its best. It is very common as you pour your first cup of coffee, to see a bald eagle perched in a tree across the creek. Nearby a deer is going about it's daily activities unaware of your presence, and trout finding its first meal of the day in the clear water just off the edge of the bank.
This cottage features a fully equipped kitchen with many on hand ingredients ready to whip up your favorite meal. Comfortable living room with a leather sleeper sofa, large flat screen T.V., as well as a gas wood stove to take the chill out of those chilly nights. A cozy bedroom with a queen size bed, nice size bath with freshly washed towels and linens.
Attractions: Centrally located to many interests, Finger Lakes Wineries, Breweries, High class restaurants, Trout fishing, Hiking, and endless amount of state land for hiking and bird watching. There is also two kayaks/ life jackets, and fishing gear available to make your stay that much more enjoyable.
We are a young, active, married couple, with no kids. We are currently involved in full time volunteer construction work, in New York and Pennsylvania area.
Nate and Tara Potter purchased this cottage in 2011
This home is perfectly situated to enjoy wildlife, as well as swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking, shopping, and many more activities.
When we first saw the natural beauty of the surrounding area, it was love at first sight! It has been said, we have the nicest view of Owego Creek, and we would have to agree. The sounds of nature, and the creek, have a nice calming effect. You will enjoy it as much as we do!
Tara and Nate are an incredibly busy couple, yet this little cottage on the river shows immaculate care, attention to detail and consideration for their guests. Nothing is lacking! Their cottage reflects a high taste level, with all the amenities you could ask for in a cottage! Not only the river, but the wonderful fields surrounding the property, offer privacy and tranquility, as soon as you drive onto the property. While my husband worked in the Binghamton area, I enjoyed reading and relaxing by the river in the Swingasan chair. Perfect! We loved hiking Buttermilk Falls State Park, Taughannock Falls State Park, and the Cayuga Wine Trail wineries. The high quality fire pit was perfect for al fresco dinners on the deck overlooking the river. We enjoy eating out while traveling, but not while being at this cottage! After a day of hiking, we longed to return to enjoy the grill, and soak in the surroundings! Binoculars with a nice bird book was ready for our viewing the Eagle one morning, and many other active, lovely birds in the trees. Many detailed ideas on planning day trips, restaurants, and sightseeing ideas were provided for every sort of trip desired. The local Shoe Outlet was a great suggestion too. We enjoyed their movie selection, great home theater system and fun games! This cottage was perfect for a relaxing getaway! Loved the Himalayan Salt lamp! We also loved being able to have our 3lb and 5 lb Chihuahuas with us too, a nice crate was available for their use too. The hosts, Tara and Nate were lovely to work with, we hope to cross their paths someday, and return to enjoy their cottage again in the future! A multitude of thanks Tara and Nate!
Have stayed here a few times and it just keeps getting better with each stay, looking forward to my next stay already. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage.
Not only did we enjoy the pretty location of this rental, we enjoyed the peace and quiet too. The owners answered all of our questions and everything was clean and tidy.
This home is a wonderful getaway. Everything in it is top-shelf. We were very comfortable and the outdoor surroundings are magnificent. We would definitely return for another stay. Absolutely wonderful!!
The cabin was so cute! Very clean and inviting. There was a nice bottle of wine on the table waiting for us when we arrived. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary cooking utensils, which we took advantage of. The town of Owego was so quaint and clean. There was some great places to eat and we really enjoyed the antiquing!!! The property was perfect for what we wanted. It was private but still close to town. The scenery was so pretty, the fall foliage was gorgeous. The stream was beautiful. The neighbors German Shepherd came over to visit us, he was very friendly. The only thing we can say that was not desirable was a bad smell coming from the kitchen. We only seemed to smell it in the evening. It was a dirty water/moldy kind of smell. Not sure if the drains didn't drain well or what. We noticed the most after running the dishwasher. If it weren't for this, we would give it 5 stars. All in all, we had a great stay!!
Our home is located on Owego Creek, yearly stocked with a variety of trout. Owego was named coolest small town in 2009. Close proximity to Cornell University and Ithaca College. Many different wineries and breweries to choose from locally.
