Holly and David have been living in Northampton for over 30 years. After attending college in the area and meeting there, they decided to settle in the Pioneer Valley and start their careers. Dave owns and operates two trade magazines and Holly is a healer working with subtle energy and bodywork. They are also musicians in Dave Russell Kirtan, a world music ensemble that plays locally and around New England.
In addition to work and family, Holly and David love to travel. They have recently been exploring the Southwest United States, hiking their way around the National Parks and Colorado Plateau.
When you stay in the apartment, they are gone, off traveling, because your space is their home! Over the years, they have renovated, rebuilt and created a new house in the old one.

If you have plans to travel to the Northeast in the wintertime, a cozy, warm retreat is a must. My husband and I decided to make the journey to Northampton to catch the trail end of our daughter's basketball season. The weather had been rough to say the least and much more of the same was expected. With blizzard conditions forecasted and sub-zero weather, it was important for us to stay in a home where we would be very comfortable indoors and be able to settle in for as long as the weather made it tough to be outside. This home in Noho was all we could have asked for. The space is uncluttered and comfortable to move into. The home is kept warm in the daytime and evening with a thermostat that adjusts itself accordingly. Space heaters are also available for use. The master bedroom is spacious and the extra room upstairs is very inviting against the harsh winter cold. The homeowner is very thoughtful and reached out to us during our stay to insure that we were doing well, to remind us to stock up on food for the coming storm and to invite us to make use of extra snow boots and slippers that were available for our use. I loved curling up on the couch for a good movie (Netflix) or in front of the picture window to watch the beautiful snow laden scenery. If we had stayed in a traditional motel or inn, we would have been forced out in search of food. Staying in this home was a terrific and reasonably priced option for us and I would eagerly return again....even during a blizzard!
I traveled to Northampton with my parents (mid-70's) to visit my first year student at Smith College. The proximity to Smith and her home in the Quad was perfect! It was a quick walk to school and a nice walk to town. The home itself was more than we expected. It was very spacious and comfortable, clean and immaculately kept. The host went to great lengths to assure that we felt welcomed and taken care of. There were towels and bath sponges waiting for each guest. The bathroom was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, face wash and soap and the vanity cabinet was empty which made my mother thrilled to be able to organize and see her toiletries. There were warm robes for us, a huge assortment of teas, coffee and condiment/spices. There were even luggage racks in each room which made it easy to live out of a suitcase. It was clear that this was someone's home yet we never felt like we were invading space. Instead, it felt like space was purposely cleared for us and that made the stay very easy and relaxed. While I was there, I already started scoping out time for another return trip. I cannot imagine staying in a local hotel over this lovely home! I hope to return soon and often!
I was in town on business and looking for three things in a rental- a comfortable bed, a good shower, and a place to prepare and reheat simple meals. This apartment delivered on these requirements, plus so much more. The location is walking distance to downtown, yet set in a quiet neighborhood. The furnishings were very comfortable, and the owner added special touches like a tea assortment on the counter, french press for coffee, robes, and lovely bath products in the tub. The first was so spacious that I never even made it upstairs so I can't review it.
The apartment is a delight and was the launching point for our perfect late-summer vacation. The furnishings are tasteful and comfortable, including sweet front and back porches; a pretty back yard with comfy lounge chairs; a well-equipped kitchen; a pretty and very comfortable bedroom with high-quality linens; nicely renovated bath with a downright heavenly tub and shower. The owner left us great coffee and teas; soft, cozy bathrobes; and many other thoughtful extras. A second bedroom and half bath upstairs would be perfect for a teenager or friend. The location is ideal--in a beautiful neighborhood of Victorian homes close to Smith, just up the street from a pathway along the river, walkable to downtown. There's so much to do in the area: we hiked in nearby Mt. Tom and the Chesterfield Gorge, biked along the bike path to Amherst, heard music at the Iron Horse Cafe, shopped, ate in some great restaurants in Northampton, picked up the world's best bread every morning at the Hungry Ghost bakery, and enjoyed Smith's beautiful campus.
