Aloha! Welcome to our remodeled ground floor unit. Our unit was recently expanded is fully furnished and equipped, so all you have to bring is your bathing suit to enjoy the beautiful landscaped grounds and facilities of Colony I. The Hawaiian theme architecture of the complex has all the community facilities to enjoy your stay and feel the aloha spirit.
A beautiful pool and koi ponds welcomes you during the day and the hot tub is there for your evening relaxing. A community area by the pool with three large grills is available to barbeque your dinner if you desire and to socialize with other guests at a relaxing pace.
The adjacent golf course is very affordable and open year around. If golfing is not your thing, it's a short walk to the dramatic black sands beach where you can swim with the resident sea turtles or just watch them from the shore.
Local fruits and vegetables as well as crafts are available at the farmers market at Naalehu every Wednesday and Saturday. The prices are great and the quality and selection excellent. It's also just a short drive to Volcano National Park to see an active volcano and to the town of Volcano where there is also an early morning Sunday farmers market which is great fun.
Come for a short visit or stay a while. This is the place to relax by yourself or with your family and enjoy a real Hawaiian vacation!
Anna and I live at Fragaria, Washington a really small town near Gig Harbor. We bought the Colony 1 condo as a place to relax, unwind and enjoy real Hawaii as we love the big Island and have been coming to it since 1965. Of all the islands in the Hawaiian chain, this is the one that has retain the Hawaii charm and the aloha spirit. Until I retire: hope fully in a few years, we make our annual pilgrimage here and always come away wishing we could stay longer.

Colony I is not even close to your typical high rise; take an elevator to your unit, complex. It is like a low rise Hawaiian village with the most beautiful landscaping and community facilities. It is a relaxing place and Anna and I immediately fell in love with it the first time we saw it. One year later, purchased the unit that we dreamed of having. In a few years we will retire here and in the mean time hope other folks will enjoy the unit and the area as much as we do.

Our unit is one of only 4 that has a high vaulted ceiling. This gives the unit a very spacious feel and with the ceiling fan and the gentle breeze that flows though because of the location in the complex it is never hot during even the summer months. We recently remodeled the bathroom and the kitchen area was expanded to make a separate dining area while retaining the sitting bar in the kitchen. We believe it is more then unique and comfortable.
Colony I at Sea Mountain is a lovely timeshare/condominium community in Pahala. It's a great jumping-off point for day trips to South Point (green beach), Punaluu Black Sand Beach, and Volcanoes National Park. This particular unit had a great location within the community (end unit with rear lanai facing the golf course and ocean) and within walking distance of pool. However, the unit itself is in need of some serious TLC. Obvious signs of wear and tear and general lack of maintenance... And based on the notes in the guest book, the owners have long ago been advised of the problems, they've just not chosen to do anything to address them. Issues that we noted during our end of August 2015 stay include: (1) The rattan kitchen chairs were falling apart; the backs were broken causing little "sticks" to poke you in the back. (2) The sun shade/blinds were falling off their hooks in the kitchen. (3) The "King sized bed" was really just 2 twin beds pushed together with 2 mattresses of different heights. There was also a rubber mattress pad on top of the bed, making it deathly hot to sleep on (no A/C) and ill-fitting sheets that kept pulling off during the night b/c they weren't deep-pocketed. (4) The knob to the ceiling fan in the living room was missing/broken off. (5) The dryer was out of service (according to the service note posted on the appliance, it's been that way since March 2015). (6) The Master Bath has a tub/shower that is sunken into the floor, so you must step down to get into it. It's definitely not accessible or easy to access especially for the elderly or persons with disabilities. And finally, (7) the entire house is in need of a deep, thorough cleaning. Tops of cupboards, fridge, bathroom fan/vent, etc. have lots of dust, grime. Bottom line - this property has a lot of potential, but needs some attention and work. Until that happens, I'd be hard-pressed to recommend this unit to any of my family or friends.
We have been here for over 2 weeks with 1 to go.The condo is well stocked, even has snorkeling and boogie boards. Quiet , safe, and the pool as well as the view is as good as it gets. Be sure to bring food with you. We have alternated between golf, sightseeing, hiking, and relaxing at the pool.Staff and guests are friendly and willing to help. This is an out of away spot away from the crowds. If you want to just take it easy and learn about the hawaiian culture, you should consider this a stop. We love it and dont want to leave
Easy walking to the ocean and many beaches including the spectacular black sand beach. The adjacent golf course is available to all renters of the unit. Pool and hot tub at the complex and community barbeque units also.
There is a $85.00 cleaning fee at the end of one's stay. Paid to Property Manager
Payment to the Property Manager with deposit required at time of reservation. Call or E-mail the Property Manager for deposit amount and details. Deposit is based on length of stay, taxes and cleaning fees.
