Our family cottage is nestled in the East Kootenay Valley under the watchful eye of the Purcell Mountain Range and wrapped by the Columbia River. Renowned for its warmth and comfort, the cabin is an ideal place for couples or a family to curl up and enjoy a relaxed get-away in front of the fire or as a home base for an action packed vacation.
The cabin is fully equipped with all appliances and amenities to make your vacation easy and worry free. The open floor plan allows the cooks, using a well equipped kitchen, to be part of the action in the rest of the front room. The large front deck, with the portable gas barbecue, makes a wonderful place to hang out, enjoying the golfer's swing, or admiring the awesome mountain view. The mountain air will give a wonderful sleep in any of the 2 Queen size or 3 extra long twin beds. Enjoy a soak in the antique claw foot bathtub, or a hot shower in the wheelchair accessible shower. Have a friendly competition with the family on the ping pong table downstairs, or convert it to the pool table and take on all comers.
All you need to bring is your food and clothes - everything else is there for you. Remember your swim suit for the hot pools and swims in the Columbia River that is just across the road.
Fairmont is ideally positioned in the valley making it an ideal destination for year round sporting activities. Look under 'Canada Travel' or 'Explore the Kootenays' websites for activities in the area.
Please call Barbara, or check out the cabin website at the end of this listing, to check out availability and additional information on the property.
The Jewell family built this cabin in 1976 as a family retreat. In 2000 the Jewell family started renting the cabin to family friends and others. We are now starting with the fourth generation coming to the cabin to enjoy the hot pools, golf, skiing, long walks and being together as a family.
Barbara Jewell Lee purchased this cabin in 1976
Fairmont Hot Springs was a family destination for camping during the May and September long weekends since the early '60s. When the opportunity arose to purchase property in 1976 as the Mountainside Golf Course was being built, Bob and Doris Jewell jumped at the idea of family retreat that wasn't in a tent. They spent many happy times at the cabin, and a great deal of time on the golf course. Their love of the area they passed on to their children, and we have passed the same love on to our children and now our grandchildren. A wonderful legacy.
Fairmont area is truly beautiful in all four seasons. From a cabin that provides all the necessities, one has access to many choices for both summer and winter activities. Lots of golf courses, hiking, fishing, downhill or cross country ski/boarding areas. The Fairmont Hot Springs Pools are great at any time of the year.
Lovely weekend break.fantastic to sit on the deck watching the golfers go by and the sunrise over the mountains in the morning.
ping pong table a hit with everyone.
Well equipped kitchen and comfy beds and plenty of towels.superb.will definately be back.
What a wonderful cabin. The cabin was clean, the beds were comfy and the deck was fabulous. We enjoyed our coffee in the mornings and our cocktails in the afternoon while enjoying the beautiful mountain view and watching the golfers as they passed on the fourth fairway. We have stayed in Fairmont several times in the past and this was by far our favorite. There are blow dryers in both of the bathrooms, hand soap, shampoo, body wash, kleenex and plenty of toilet paper. They also provide dish soap, dishwasher soap and laundry detergent. It will be so easy to pack when we return next summer now that we know they provide all those extras. Thank you for that Barbara! The keyless entry is great to have and very easy to use. The bottle of wine they provided was a nice surprise. My husband loved the big screen TV. It was so great that we could bring the pups. They sat on the back lawn and watched the golfers, squirrels and birds. There are many trails nearby to walk the pups. We can see why the first settler in the valley chose his location near the Jewell Family Cabin. We enjoyed the Farmer`s Market on Saturday in Invermere and on Sunday in Fairmont.
Despite the rainy weather,a wonderful time enjoyed by everyone at this well furnished cabin, got to enjoy coffee on the deck a couple of mornings and watched and waved at passing golfers, thanks again Barb for sharing your mountain side cabin.
Fantastic place, quiet and beautiful , clean house. We spent 5 fantastic days there. Every morning was fantastic feeling when I saw the mountains from house's terrace. We will come back .
This cabin felt warm and comfortable from the moment we walked in. It offered everything a family could need during their stay. The location is awsome. And it is super clean. Owners are very accommodating, thanks to the Jewel Family.
Awesome getaway. Very relaxing and amazing view. Enjoyed long walks and coming back to unwind in front of the fire. Kitchen had everything we needed, and we really enjoyed the ping pong/pool table.
Lots of space - comfortable beds!
Would love to go back and stay in the fall!
