Duncan Ralston purchased this house in 2005

Why Duncan Ralston chose Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains

We origionally came here on a family caravaning holiday at Messange:- a little village near Vieux Boucau and just fell in love with the area.We bought this property from a retired english couple who had lived here in Vieux Boucau for many years and had lovengly renovated it to a very high standard.

What makes this house unique

We have three children , two boys and a girl we always have a fab ulous time there !! we never seem to get board of things to see and do even after all these years - the locals think of it as a hidden gem!!........ we think they are right!!

Nice holidays with kids

  • 5 of 5

Confortable and really spacious house, with a nice big garden. Le Vieux Boucau is a friendly and peaceful area, where you can easily ride bicyle. Every thing (shops, restaurants, beaches) is less than 5 minutes away by bicycle.

We had a very good stay in that house this summer, and we definitly recommend it.

Spacious villa, near beach, town and forest.

  • 4 of 5

This spacious, modern bungalow sits in a large garden, just 10 minutes walk from all amenities and the beach. It is well equipped for most holiday requirements. As the property can accommodate up to 8, its layout enables privacy for quiet times as well as large spaces for gathering comfortably together. Two bathrooms and three toilets are a bonus!

However, this is not the property for those people who are looking for a quiet, away from it all, base. The garden is bordered by the local cycle track which is used frequently during the day and the road outside has plenty of walkers passing too and fro from the camp site at the end of the lane. This gives the house an atmosphere of being part of the bustle of vibrant resort. Personally, I liked that and the fact that it was very quiet at night and early mornings was a bonus. However, the photo does not give this impression so someone who hoped for more a more private location, might be disappointed.

The convenience of its location is excellent. Everything is available by a short walk( beach, shops, local produce markets, restaurants, bars and cafés) It would be possible to stay here without using the car and as there is good parking within the closed gates, in a town where parking spaces are at a premium, this is ideal. The selection of facilities and activities offered by Vieux Bocau is excellent. The beach looks very safe for young children, the surf beaches are a short ride away for the energetic, there a flat walks and cycle tracks everywhere, good restaurants and snack bars. Our stay was at the end of September and we were pleased to find that nearly everywhere remained open, the weather was excellent and there were plenty of other holiday makers to create an atmosphere.

The house would suit all ages. The corridors are wide and could accommodate both pushchairs or wheelchairs and all ages in between!

I would certainly consider returning here again and will recommend it to friends.

Great french holidays

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to spent typical "family holidays". Before we arrived the information provided and the communication with the owners were easy-very good customers service. The house is in the midst of Vieux-Boucau near a camping place (at the start a little concern of us). But to our surprise the house was very quiet in August, the main season. The house is well equipped, clean, cool during nights. The place is marvellous: shopping in the centre is possible-e.g. bakery, butcher, souvenir shops, tourist information, pharmacy and restaurants can be reached by a walk. We can just recommend it.

2 semaines à Vieux Boucau

  • 4 of 5

3 weeks of heaven

  • 4 of 5

The house was just perfect set within its own grounds minutes away from the town centre and with the cycle trail passing by the house. The house is very comfortable with everything you could need to enjoy your stay. The kitchen is well equipped and with a super sized fridge to store all the lovely local seafood. There is even a little cafe near by that sells frites, and pizza, for when its too hot to cook. Would strongly recommend this holiday home in this lovely area of France.
