Disappointing rustic retreat

  • 2 of 5

Butterfly Haven was a rustic cabin in a nice area but we were disappointed because the cabin was not clean and really smelled old and musty, so much that it actually woke me up at night. The furniture was very dated and made me not want to sit on it without covering it with a blanket. The cob webs in the corners of the bedrooms and living area had clearly been there for years and the lamps and top of the refrigerator were very dusty/dirty. The used sponges in the sink were not something I would ever use on the dishes we ate on in the kitchen and the main silverware drawer was falling apart when you opened it. The jetted tub did not work and the bathroom was clean, except for the light fixtures and cobwebs in the corners. A professional cleaning service would definitely be in order for this property. The only other complaint would be the treacherous parking (without barriers with a huge drop) and the fact that the wall a/c had to be on full blast in order for the upstairs bedroom to be cooled to a temperature that you could sleep! Sorry, but we will not be returning!

Owner's Response: Thanks Natalie for sending your review....I am sorry your mother did not enjoy her stay- I tried my best to make her happy the most busy day of my life during the eclipse. I did not upcharge anyone or make them stay extra nights like other hotels. She had extra parking-sorry she did not like the space. We are rustic cabins in the most beautiful area of Georgia.I tried to get her in early on Sunday but did not want to promise her because we had guests for the weekend....it is funny that she rushed the cleaning and then complained. I am posting your review and thanks for your business! Daughters review of cabin. Message from Natalie H Hi Stephen, First, I want to apologize because I am not inquiring about a rental - I wanted to leave a review because I had a different experience than my mother, who already left a comment. Sorry I could not find your email. Just wanted to say thank you for your hospitality. The cabin obviously made an effort to be hospitable, and my boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised to find AC, Dish, and even great wifi. My mother is used to a certain lifestyle standard, just wanted to assure you that is not the case with us. We are more adaptable, open-minded, and adventurous, and for that, the Butterfly Haven was just right. This was the first week-long vacation we've ever taken together, and I personally really enjoyed all Blairsville had to offer. I'm hoping I can make it back in the future, next time longer than for two nights! Sincerely, Natalie H

Already coming back!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin and already booked another visit back. Stephen is so nice and does a great job taking care of the property. The cabin was perfect for our 3 adults and 2 kids, but could fit more if need be. Thanks!

Lovely family get away!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin. We made a fire in the clean fireplace. The cabin was clean and quiet. The kitchen was well equipped! It was everything we hoped it would be. We hope to go back again!

Last Minute Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We booked this cabin the day before we planned to arrive and the owner was quick to contact us and was easy to get in touch with during our stay. The views from the cabin were awesome and it's proximity to outdoor fun and adventure are hard to beat. With Vogel State Park just down the road and Brasstown Bald a short drive away, we were able to easily keep our 2 small kids entertained and engaged in the outdoors. My only complaint would be the lack of significant water pressure in the shower but that that is being picky. The cabin was clean and Stephen cut on the space heater to take the chill off before we arrived and even had the lights on as it was dark when we arrived. For a small family who is looking for a quick getaway from the hectic pace of life, this is a great little place to stay!
