About Ken Kosal

Hi, I am Ken, and with my wife Michelle, we are offering this cabin for rent. We live in South Lyon and are 'up north' most weekends (we have a cabin across the lake from this rental). We have 2 college age boys and 2 English Setters.

Ken Kosal purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Ken Kosal chose Northern Michigan

Michelle and I purchased this cabin in the fall of 2013 to 'keep it in the family'. We built a cabin on the other side of the lake in 2000, however from the time I was a baby I was coming up to this 'side of the lake'. This cabin is next to other family members and was very important to us to keep it in the family. I have 2 boys that will eventually end up with this place. In the interim we have chosen to rent this so others can enjoy the area/cabin/lake as I have for 50yrs.

What makes this cabin unique

This is a very family friendly location. Lots of room to enjoy the outdoors with the large lot, fire pit, deck, lakeside bench. There is a hiking trail around the lake, accessible from the end of the road, as well as Reid Lake nature area 3miles away. The 'ball diamond' is located in the park 1 block away with 'old fashion' playground equipment, a basketball court, horseshoe pits and is the 'center' of the Biggest 4th in the North.

I felt right at home

  • 5 of 5

From the welcome basket, to the fully stocked EVERYTHING, I have never felt more comfortable on a vacation.

There was absolutely everything you need. Actually, all you need is your toothbrush and food.

The view was gorgeous.

We came here to just unwind and that's what we did. Fished on the nice days, relaxed, and just enjoyed the week.

We plan on staying here anytime we want to get away.

Only 1 thing. ..check out was 10 am. Too early for me.

But other than that, I would highly recommend this cabin.

Ken and Michelle have done an excellent job with this rental. They have a wonderful place.

Nice little cabin

  • 4 of 5

We rented this for a few days for me and my son to go deer hunting in the near by federal lands. Though we did not get see any deer there was a lot of awesome woods to wonder.

The Cabin was over all very good. The welcome basket was very nice addition. Kitchen was well stocked with things we needed for cooking. We were there in the off lake season (dock and boat out of the water) so we can't really speak to the lake quality other than say it looked very clear and had one night with a lovely sunset! couple of minor draw backs was the fireplace shown in pic (we chose this place with that as a feature) was not working which was a bummer (owner did say it was going to be fixed) and beds were clean and in good shape but I would not call them comfortable but ok for a cabin time.

The question is asked would i recommend this to a friend and I would say yes over all with knowledge about the fireplace and beds. It was quaint little town and we drove to near by towns for dinner out and shopping and the hunting land was very close to cabin! Price it right for the overall experience and owner was quick to respond to question regarding fireplace.

Main suggestion fix the fireplace ASAP or tell renters before they go.

Owner's Response: Paul, We are glad you enjoyed yourselves at the Cabin. As you mentioned, the cabin has plenty of land around to explore/hunt/hike etc (it's in the middle of the Huron National Forest). The gas log in the fireplace is being replaced this winter. We have had too many "issues" with guest lighting the current one and as such shut it off this fall. Photos of the new one will be posted. We look forward to hosting you in the future. Thanks Ken & Michelle PS: The gas log has been replaced with a "user friendly" version in Feb 2017. Ready for cool spring and fall evening use.

Owner's Response: George, Our guests agree with your comment, that the view of the lake is great! Whether that view is from the inside of the cabin, sitting on the deck, swinging in the log swing or lake side using the fire pit. The second bedroom will sleep 3 utilizing the bunk bed. We look forward to hosting you in the future. Ken and Michelle

Great property, beautiful lake setting

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here, even though it rained much of the weekend. We brought our two dogs who really had fun in the yard and lakefront area. Would definitely come back again. Lovely, relaxing autumn retreat.
