About Dian Weeks
For many years I have worked as an artist/sculptor...designing decorative elements for the home. And I have managed property rentals for over 25 years. We spend a few weeks each year enjoying our island retreat and getting recharged.
Dian Weeks purchased this Cottage in 1987
Why Dian Weeks chose Kaneohe
We looked for a special location for over 4 years until 1987... when we finally found our perfect island retreat. We built a custom pole house(s) and appointed it with Indonesian/Asian furnishings from our travels and planted extensive tropical landscaping from local farmers. For years we have shared the guest house with travelers from all over the world...with many rave reviews.
What makes this Cottage unique
This is a very unique, exclusive area...located about 10 minutes north of Kaneohe, in an area called Waikane which means 'Water of the Gods'. It's private; has a serene country feel embellished with gorgeous tropical vegetation & fruit trees. Being embraced by the Koolau Mountains and enchanting views of Kaneohe Bay...this property is like no other. Great location...10 minutes to Kaneohe town; 20 minutes to Honolulu & Kailua; 40 minutes to the NorthShore. And close to beautiful beaches all along the coast.

Nice getaway in the country
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Was in a nice area, felt safe. Roosters woke us up each morning but didn’t really mind it. The only drawback was the skylights which made the home very hot mid day, and being from Louisiana we are used to having the AC running full blast and feeling comfortable. We ended up just taking cold baths each afternoon to cool off after the beach. Island life is much different than the main land and you gotta learn to adapt. It was nice to lay out on the hammock and enjoy the nice breeze coming off the water. We were sad to leave and would definitely stay here again.
Enjoyed our stay it was quiet and in the country.
True Hawaiian experience
The cottage is perfect! Peaceful and the true hawaiian experience. Dian is quick to respond to any questions. I cant wait to come back. Chickens are just looking for a hand out so don’t let them scare you. The extra condiments and fully stocked kitchen was great for cook in. Grocery store is close and fresh road side fruit. Locals are great also. True paradise!!
Very nice. Love the view and the chickens were a plus. Fresh bananas and avocados in the trees too. Could use some updating but worked for us!
My husband and I stayed here for our 1-year anniversary and we had an amazing time. The house was great! The view from the porch was beautiful and the palm trees in the front of the house provided nice privacy from the main house. There are a ton of windows, giving you a nice view no matter where you are in the house.
We cooked a lot and didn't have any problems with the appliances. There were even some condiments in the fridge and pantry!
The loft was roomy but watch out for low beams. And the bathroom is downstairs, which was a little annoying at night, but there were lots of night lights to guide you.
None of the fruit was ripe while we were there, but if you go at the right time, you can enjoy bananas, avocados and mangoes from the yard!
The house is in a great location. It's away from the tourist areas, making it pretty quiet and peaceful. We recommend taking a drive north - you're right along the water and there are plenty of places to stop, like a macadamia nut farm, parks, beaches and shrimp trucks. The Kahana beach is about 10 minutes away and wasn't crowded at all. Highly recommend.
We were very happy with this house and Dian was very easy to work with. She was even staying at the the main house while we were there, so we got to meet her!
So glad you enjoyed your stay...and the surrounding areas! I know this was a special anniversary for you...so nice that you were able to relax and enjoy!
It was so nice to meet you...hope you'll return someday!
Awesome April 2019.
Loved watching sun rise every morning. Even though it is on a place with a main house, the landscape makes it feel secluded. Nice open concept and access to the lani that goes around the cottage.
This private retreat is located on the north end of Kaneohe Bay, about 7 miles north of Kaneohe, in an exclusive area known as Waikane-'Water of the Gods' ...on the Windward side of Oahu. Watch the sun rise over the Bay and Chinaman's Hat, a small island off the shore. Just a few miles north is the beautiful Kualoa Beach Park for swimming and hiking, and Kualoa Ranch where there's horseback riding and special events. Kailua Beach and Lanikai are approx. 25 minutes south; NorthShore and Waimea Bay are approx. 40 minutes north; Honolulu is about 20 minutes southwest.
