About Michael & Leanne Wood

I am a retired Air Canada Captain, my wife is a retired piano teacher, we LOVE living in Nanaimo with its slower pace, access to beautiful trails, beaches, and, of course, the spectacular views that are soo good for the soul!

Michael & Leanne Wood purchased this house in 2006

Why Michael & Leanne Wood chose Vancouver Island

Our property is part of a very private, 3 home parcel of land on about 2.5 acres, surrounded by acres of forest, with some of the nicest views available, all really good reasons to buy! We are also only 5 - 6 minutes from major shopping including Costco, Home Depot, Canadian Tire, etc.

What makes this house unique

The best part of our property is the space between us and our neighbors, which is possible with 2.5 acres shared with only 3 other homes; we enjoy the privacy and the unobstructed views.

Highly Recommended

My wife and I stayed for two weeks in September and couldn't have been happier. We were looking for a place to relax and enjoy Nanaimo and the surrounding area and that's exactly what we got. The location is ideally situated in a nice area of the city with outstanding views of the ocean. The house is fairly new and has all the amenities we needed. The owners, Michael and Leanne, are great to deal with and answered any questions promptly. We are happy to highly recommend this property. The next time we are in Nanaimo we will definitely hope to stay again.

Like living in a post card

  • 4 of 5

The above phrase is one we use to describe our time in the suite when telling people what our vacation was like. We would consider returning there if we were visiting the Island again.

The view was breathtaking, and the scene itself interesting with all the boats traversing the water and in the evenings the changes in horizon colour were great to watch. Bring binoculars!

The geographic location was ideal for a trip exploring greater central Vancouver Island with day trips to Coombs, Parksville, Comox, Tofino, Ucluelet and Chemainus and the like easily done. It is also within walking distance of several parks, but you need good legs and lungs to walk the steep driveway home. Be ready for that.

The suite had all we needed by way of amenities. The many windows which gave a great view also had a bit of a downside. There were times when we would have appreciated more of a feeling of privacy, as there are no curtains and the best place to catch some sun is a common area. We think it would be helpful for future clients to know this going in.

Owner's Response: Hi Pete, hi Amy, It was a pleasure having you as guests, and as mentioned in our email a few days ago, we are replacing the trees in the privacy planter box that was eaten by the deer; beautiful to watch, yet they do get hungry for luscious evergreens! Our spectacular view is to the north, across Georgia Stait to the mountains; great view yet less sun, which is why we constructed the sunny patio next to the fish pond on the south side of our home; this is a common area that we and our guests can share and enjoy. We look forward to seeing you and your well behaved dogs in the future. Thanks, Michael & Leanne

Excellent Stay in Nanaimo

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time in this amazing suit on the Nanaimo harbour. The accommodation is modern and with everything you could ever need for a fantastic holiday. The patio is a perfect place to BBQ, views are absolutely stunning.

Thanks Michael and Leanne for a great vacation and such a beautiful townhouse.

3 excellent weeks in May

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure to rent the lower suit on top of the mountain for 3 weeks in May. What a view.

The rooms were clean and the property very well maintained. Actually better than advertised.

We relaxed in front of the outside gas fireplace and took long walks to the shore of Neck Point Park and Pipers Lagoon and many more hiking trails.

A very pleasant experience for the weary traveller which we can only recommend.

We plan to come back in the future for a longer stay.

Thanks so much

Wonderful one-bedroom suite, close to amenities, gorgeous view.

  • 5 of 5

This very clean, very well maintained suite is perfectly outfitted with everything you need for an extended stay, and is large enough for two people to share comfortably. The location is beautiful, with wonderful walking trails in the Linley Valley accessible just down the road (Burma Road entrance). You are also close to Costco, and a couple of very good restaurants (Nori and Hilltop Bistro). Michael and Leanne have thought of every detail - from the large-screen TV, to the instant hot water, to the Weber BBQ, wireless printer and the infra-red patio warmers...to list just a few. The view across the Georgia Strait is spectacular, and you will see rainbows and bald eagles on a regular basis (at least in March!).
